Who is Amelia?

Are you asking about Amelia Karanthes, the Judicator of Ryloth?  If so, then the answer is: A Smokin' Hottie!  ;D

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: LOST

This is a little overdue....I'm not sure if anyone here listens to the Official LOST Podcast, but I got around to listening to the final episode (prior to the finale) today.  Anyways, in the Q and A, they get on the subject of whether or not Stormtroopers think they are "bad guys" (in a question relating to the LOST baddies).  They discuss Star Wars for a bit, and its sort of funny.  Anyways, just wanted to pass it along for anyone interested.  Its a pretty good podcast overall to listen to anyways if you enjoy the show.

Linky?

You know we're going to get the BAD figures in some kind of Legends/Greatest Hits offer a year or two down the road anyway.

I don't get the size reference - any chance this is same size as Binaltech/Alternators?  Can't seem to find a good picture, but the ones I have seen look Amazing!

Deluxes are the $9.99 Transformers.  That should give you an idea on size.  Good or bad   :-\

The carded ones?  Boo!  Iron Hide Move Version in the box is almost Alternatorish (yes, that's a word), but apparently that's not the size they're going with.   >:(  >:(  >:(

Mace Windu to Padme in ATOC re: Dooku being her assassin?

Good guess, but no.  It happens later in the chronology than this.   ;)

No other guesses?   :(

Anakin says this to Palpatine in Episode III.

We have a WINNER!  Nice find - I thought this would be more of a stumper.  You're up JG...

Transformers Alternity

Apparently that Nissan is Prime/Convoy and this is a new line that is "slightly larger than deluxe figures"  I'm fine with that if they want to start up a new line because Prime looks amazing and apparently I have money to burn, but with that name - you'd think they'd release them in the states, but who knows.

found these all at walmart today; thing is, I only want the x-wing luke/r2, vaders' imperial protocal droid and maybe the r2 with watto, that's it.

You should pick up the others and trade your spares to those of us who have no chance of finding anything at their own craptastic Wal-Marts.   ;)

Thanks to J-daddy on the Shadow Stormie and Kubie Battle Droid hook up!

We'll have to see how it pans out, but it sounded like Hasbro was making an effort to put droid parts in figs from similar scenes or grouping by main characters versus secondary ones.  I'm going to get them all, so don't really care.  Think about this though - how pissed would you be if the droid parts were just randomly inserted with each figure?  So you could buy every one of the BAD figures and still not be able to build the droid - or have all of the same droid piece.  :P  Just saying - it could be a lot worse.

The Legacy Collection / Re: Hasbro profit question for you guys
« on: June 22, 2008, 02:43 PM »
This though also varies greatly depending on what we're talking about...  Put VOTC Han out now, and he's almost pure profit to Hasbro.  Repaint the E3 Jedi Fighter, and the same...  The fixed costs are in, so those items are just gravy.

That's a really good point.  All depends on how you calc your return on investment.  If they still consider development costs of an older figure as part of the total cost to make a new figure, then ROI wouldn't be that much better.  But to JJ's point, a lot of this is already sunk cost.  In cases like this, they should be making much more profit on re-issues than anything new.  Funny to think that the new TAC stormtrooper was likely less profitable than the reissued shadow stormie.

I actually work in a field where we evaluate return on investment of consumer goods.  Not really toys, but I have picked up some toy knowledge over the years.  Retailer margins on most action figures are around 100% or greater.  Manufacturers most often operate at a similar rate and their products do not differ greatly in terms of profit margin.

As such, I would estimated that a $7 figure costs Target $3.50 and they make $3.50 per sale.  Likewise, Hasbro probably makes them for $2 or less (including design fees, new molds, production costs, etc.).  If the Falcon is going to sell for $150, Target is probably paying about $75 for it.  That means Hasbro probably incurred about $40 or less in cost to make.

Haven't really been buying too much Hasbro recently but I did see a Neyo and Blackhole Stormtrooper at KB Toys so I picked them up.  I passed on the Utapau trooper.

Wow, does KB still exist?  I think they all closed here in Minnesota.  What are they charging for basic figs these days?

Picked up a second Stap/Super BD TRU Battle Pack today.  This set has grown on me, but still not happy about the $25 price tag.   >:(
