Three days until I set the scoring system.

I am not opposed to changing the scoring a little to favor general production a bit more.  And I am not opposed to the negative points in the original scoring system, though I'd accept them being dropped to -0.5 (or is it already there  :P)

Any other comments?

I finally got on to the site and checked out current scoring.  Not sure how you would have folks vote on this, but I'd be in favor of getting rid of the -1 for missed kicks.  Everything else is fine with me.

Check out this lett I received back from Target Guest Service after complaining about the price moving from $8 down to $7, then back up to $8 the next week.  I'm going to print a few copies, shred them, and spread them over my garden as I believe this will make great fertilizer.  >:(

"Thanks for taking the time to share your thoughts and feelings about our price matching policy for the Star Wars action figures. We've established our policy as one way guests may expect value and low prices on all our merchandise. Target doesn't price match or price adjust with other competitor stores. (REALLY? I used to work with Target for Ctgy Mgmt and we would specifically audit local Wal-Marts to check prices!) I'm sorry for any inconvenience or disappointment this may have caused.

We're always looking for ways to make the Target experience better for every guest. As a result, I'll make sure to share your comments with our Store Operations team.

Thanks for shopping with us. I hope we'll see you again soon at Target.

Target Guest Relations"

Thanks Garry - definitely hope to see YOU on my next shopping trip so I can tell you what I think in person.  I'll be picking up my SW from Wal-Mart despite the added gas prices and inconvenience of getting there, or worst case spending my $8 per figure at TRU.

I saw She-Hulk at a couple Targets last Wednesday.  Almost caved and bought all 8 between a few Target stores but in the end couldn't do it.

A number of these, including absorbing man, are up at  Shulkie is out of stock, but Mikey found one for me anyway :-*

So she is out and around the twin cities!  Spidey - do you remember which Targets you saw her at?  Probably long gone now, but hoping to find one of these local instead of resorting to evilbay.  Thanks!

I think with the inclusion of a second officer, it then switches back to figure production adding to the overall cost as they have to produce twice as many officers than the other figures to fill out the 5 figure format.

Okay, help me with this math:

$8 per fig - Basic Fig
$4 per fig - Clone Wars 5 Fig BP

We know profit margins on these items are high - Hasbro makes a profit on what they sell to retail and retail makes a profit off of us.  Lets be conservative at 60% markup for Retailers and 66%.  That means Hasbro's cost structure per figure is as follows:

Basic Figs:  $8 Retail     $5 Selling Price       $3 Hasbro Cost
BP Figs:      $5 Retail     $3.13 Selling Price   $1.87 Hasbro Cost

Its not like the BP packaging is free, so let's assume the figure itself costs $1.  That would mean basic figure packaging costs $2 and the BP packaging costs $.87 per figure for a total of $3.48.

This would follow Adam's logic that packaging adds quite a bit to the cost, but additional figures would only cost $1.  Certainly doesn't seem like rational to raise the retail price an additional $5 for adding one figure.  :-\

Of course, TRU raises their prices by $5 for no reason at all... ::)

In addition to the Madden cover, Favre has to overcome the mojo of playing somewhere other than Green Bay.  It's a tall order.

I also heard that he walked under a ladder on his way to camp, tripping over a stray black cat, and fell smack into a mirror, shattering it.  With all of this bad luck, I predict he will spontaneously combust into a fireball of ash by week #3.  Sorry Jets fans.   :(

I had to get on wait list... >:(

also could someone explain what sideshow points are for?

You build up points for every purchase.  The more you spend, the more points you get.  Next time you order, you can use your points to lower the cost.  I think you need like 75ish points just to get a couple bucks off, but if you order 2-3 figs, you can build up enough points to make it worthwhile.

WARNING: I found this out the hard way - save your points for cheaper priced items, not expensive items!  When you use points on an order, you don't collect ANY points for the remaining purchase price.  I used my points on the Clone Wars Obi Wan to save a few bucks, but now I'm not getting any of the points for him and he's worth quite a few.  You're way better off collecting points on the big tickets, then using them on something smaller.

I would sign up for all of the above if not for all the discussion about why Hasbro did not include a 5th figure in the Sheild Generator Battle Pack.  If your rationale is correct, it should cost next to nothing for them to include the additional Imperial Officer proposed.  But Hasbro decided that they could charge $20 for four figures or would need to raise the price to $25 for the five figures including the 2nd duplicate officer.

If the bulk of the cost is wrapped up in packaging, then why the need to charge $5 for an additional figure?  Something doesn't add up there.  I get that packaging per figure costs more, but I'd really be shocked to find that it costs twice the price of bundled figures.

I'm hoping that they will be easy to get as well. They are a great deal considering that you get four clones AND a Jedi for $20 when four clones by themselves will set you back $32 now that Target has returned to the $8/figure pricing.

I hadn't thought of that - buying the five figures seperately would cost almost twice as much as the 5 figure BPs.  Who the heck at Hasbro is setting these prices?

Out of the reg figs, I think the hardest one to find/fewest I've seen around is Padme, which I thought was surprising.  I've seen lots of Wave 1 and Wave 2 here and there, but Padme is by far the one I've seen the least of.  Figured troops or Tiin would be selling better - is she short packed?

Are you guys sure that the TRU sale is this week? I stopped in and they didn't know anything about it. They said the latest ad comes out next week.

On the annoying side, I did take some comic packs up to purchase (to see of they came up on sale,) but somehow, the legacy comic packs, of which they had a ton, weren't in the system yet.  ???

Which sale are you referring to?  The buy one get one for 50% at TRU should be on right now - they have signage up and it automatically rang up that way on Sunday.  Someone also posted cheaper prices on basic figs, but I think that was at TRUs in Canada.

They should have held off on this one until they needed the 2008 Holiday Trooper.   ;)

She is shipping but i think at only 1 per case in only one of the assortments. Kind of stupid for a BAF wave, they should be packed evenly

I actually took the time to look at the package today and she should be shipping with all of the current figs.  The three shadowed "coming this fall" figures were absorbing man, gray hulk, and some other dude, but looks like all the BAF figs from this wave should be out right now.  That's a real bummer, seeing as how the pegs are full everywhere I go.   :P

You guys and your curses.  I think the Jets will do just fine this year with Favre at the helm.  Pennington is kind of a weak guy - shouldn't be surprised that he was getting banged up.

Couple of savings ideas for those feeling the pain of Legacy spending...

#1 Comic Pack sale this week is buy one, get one 50% off.  They are still $11.99 at TRU, so huge savings over Target if you can find what you want.  My TRU didn't have any more of the new ones, but they are the same DPCI at Target, so if you find new ones at the Red Dot, buy those and return your TRU ones.  I found my new CPs at Target last week and picked up two older ones at TRU today.  Excluding tax, I spent $26.58 at Target versus $17.98 at TRU for a savings of $8.60.

#2 I received a coupon booklet at TRU while making my purchase and it has two coupons good for 20% a single item.  One can't be used until 8/15 and the other can't be used until 8/22.  These are perfect for big ticket items like the BMF or AT-TE.  I was groaning about paying $40 for my B-Wing this week, but I took it to the service desk with my coupon and she took 20% off my B-Wing, which knocked it down to $32.  She noted that the coupon wasn't supposed to be used until later in the week, but I asked her nicely and she fixed it anyway.   ;D

Still not a fan of the increased pricing, but there are some good deals to be had at TRU!
