Anyone know where to go to get a new plastic picture window thingie?  I can't find one without buying a new wallet and don't really want/need a new wallet.

Here's a stupid question, where do you buy comic books? Do you subscribe to them?  I've done searches for comic book stores in my area and they are either out of business or just don't exist. It not like I'm in a rural area or anything. You would think they would be more plentiful in southern california.

I think subscription has taken away a lot of the retail business.  In the Midwest, there are a handful of toy/comic type stores in bigger cities.  If you're not an avid reader, Ebay is actually not a bad place to find deals on older stuff.

I personally used to shop at a local store until December when they took away their discount.  I now use a subscription service called SciFi Genre - they offer great discounts, cover selection, super cheap shipping, AND you get a free bag and board with each book.  Pretty awesome deal.  I buy at least ten regular titles, which gives me a 20% discount on everything I buy.  They have carry a limited assortment of toys, which are also discount priced if you're a subscriber.   ;)

I think between TB and Hasbro, we've gotten most of big name characters in fairly good versions.  However, if you follow Hasbro logic for Star Wars, they should be releasing versions of the big guns every year or at least every other year.  We see a Vader, Luke, Leia, Chewie, Yoda, etc. pretty much every year and to my shock and awe, these seem to sell every single year.  Kids coming into the franchise want the big name players, so regardless of what has been available in the past, I think there's room for remakes or even rereleases of some of the bigger name characters, especially if that helps gets more waves out per year and brings news/excitement to the line.

As a collector, I only grab the Avengers and am pretty happy with these releases to date:

Giant Man BAF - Awesome
Wasp - two solid versions plus a mini from the Goliath pack
Hulk - decent enough
S1 or Face off Cap - Good enough
Iron Man - Between FA, Series 1, 90's, and current versions, there are more than enough Iron Man figs.  I'd love to an upgraded 80's version (remake of S1), but otherwise he's good
Thor - could of good versions between the TB and Hasbro lines

Other figs that are good enough as they are:

Quicksilver - good, but wish I could find the green suit variant
Scarlet Witch - okay, but not my favorite sculpt
Black Panther
Ant-Man (full size and mini)
Vision (Phasing and regular)
Ms Marvel
Captain Marvel
Modern Wonder Man (see below)
Spiderwoman (Both versions)
Moon Knight
Young Avengers Box Set Figs

Figs that I think they either need to make or redo:

Black Widow - both of these versions are horrible. Body is okay, but redo the head
Wonder Man First Appearance and/or Red overcoat - can't believe they haven't made one or the other yet.
Black Knight - Sorry, but the latest Hasbro version is awful.  Would love to see a better 80's version and or his grunge look when he work the avengers bomber and held a laser sword
Quasar (Male Version)
Tigra - coming out in wave 4, but not sure if she's any good
Remaining Young Avengers - I have customs of Stature and Kate (Hawkeye), but would be great to release these for others.  Can't believe they made Iron Lad instead of Stature!  And what about Speed?
Avengers chicks in general seem to get the shaft. Where are all of these figures?
Moon Dragon

Again, I've got customs of 3 of the 5, but would be nice to see these in wide release.

Here's what I'm reading:

 X  Avengers Classic
X  Avengers: The Initiative (dropping this with issue #12 I think - kind of bored with it)
X  Captain America (just started, not very impressed yet)
X  Invincible Iron Man (New series, looks good)
X  Iron Man: Director of SHIELD (Getting a little bored with this one - move the plot along already)
 X  Marvel Previews
 X  Mighty Avengers
X  Ms. Marvel (Awesome book.  Funny, lots of action, great stories)
 X  New Avengers
X  Secret Invasion (Can't wait to see who's actually a skrull!)
 X  Star Wars: Dark Times
 X  Star Wars: KOTOR
 X  Star Wars: Legacy
 X  Star Wars: Rebellion
X  Thor (one of the best books I've read in a long time - highly recommend it)
X  Transformers Spotlights & Ongoing Series (Think Mirage and Grimlock are the next ones to hit)
X  X-Factor: Quick and the Dead (I have a soft spot for Quicksilver, so I'm giving this a shot)
X  Young Avengers Presents (Really missed this team - happy to have them back even on a limited basis)

The Legacy Collection / Re: The Return of Saga Legends

Please please please just make all of the new Legends figs versions of Darth Vader throughout the years.

I'd buy.  :P

But seriously, Vader is the most identifiable character from Star Wars.  Don't you think it makes sense to have him on the pegs frequently?  (I'm not aiming this specifically at you Jman, just JD'ers in general).

LOL - I know you would!  I do think there's something to be said for re-releases of the main characters despite collectors already having 20+ versions.  These are the most popular characters for kids, so makes sense to have them available in some form most of the time.  I didn't buy any of the common characters in the Legends line this last year (Vader, R2, Chewie, etc.), but they all seem to sell, since none of those are on the pegs at the store I'm shopping now.  That means somebody's buying them, so kudos to Hasbro for trying to satisfy everyone.

All that being said, I would be totally fine with them never releasing another Darth Vader ever again.   ;)

Pittsburgh,PA actually.

That's unusual.  Have any of you West Coasters been checking DPCIs?  I know a few of us in Minnesota have been checking regularly, but no sign of them in the stockrooms around here yet.

My Ultimate Battle Pack Idea is no more Ultimate Battle Packs.  They're too big.

I agree, but I think you'd find more room if you opened your sets.  I also think it's probably the only way we might get small playset type settings from Hasbro.

Well, the other way to get a small playset would be for Hasbro to cancel the battle packs and start up a new assortment of small playsets.   ;)

That's to make ice cream, I don't think it requires Force Powers for that.

Egg-zactly.  ;)  You're reading too much into it Steve

And I don't think all of the non-jedi picks were jokes, but I don't want to name names.  You know who you are.
