Wave 3 is up for pre-order at EE.

Looks like Han Solo gets the nod as the first carry-over figure.  Makes sense I guess as folks may want a second to display with all those hand/belt/gun combos.

Or it could be the universe's way of continuing to tempt me to buy into this line by giving me another shot at Han.   :-\

You don't appreciate losing based on a sweet 3-on-2 game tying SHG?

You don't appreciate not capitalizing on a cold goalie who was just this AM taken off IR and has had 11min game time in the last month and one practice in the last week?

You didn't enjoy the sick slow burn that was Coyle SO winner?

Cuz I seemed to think it went ok this afternoon.   :-X

The Black Series 3.75" Figures / Re: 16 Most Useless SW Figures

Useless is in the eye of the beholder for sure.

To me, the countless ROTS Anakin resculpts are pretty useless at this point...  and I'll be perfectly happy if we never get another new TPM 'lil Annie too.

Hooray for Amazon sales.  Picked up my first set at the $50 sale price and now I just ordered one for $40.  That works out to $7.50 per fig for some nice army builders and two freebie droids.  I'll wait to grab a third set until they hit $30.  :P

Like others have said, if Hasbro wanted to toss out a droid factory 8-pack like this via Amazon to get us the two 'lost' Astromech BADs (R8-B7 and R5-X2), that'd be A-OK with me. :)

Apologies to those of you collecting this line, but more and more I'm glad I was happy just picking up a 3.75" Gandalf from this line.

Gotta be super-frustrating hearing one thing from TBD and seeing stuff pop up OUS.    :-\

35 Star Wars Items $5 or less at BBTS.

I put it here since it includes the Black Series Wave 1 commons (Bigss, Anakin, Vader, Scout).  Also has some older Vintage Collection, Clone Wars, and some other nice fodder figures for army builders or customizers...

With the holidays approaching, I guess it's time for another round of 'Is this the end for Toys R Us?' articles...

Not to pick on you personally, Jeff (I know you're a Green Lantern fan), but the movie figure line for Green Lantern?  OMG, what a bomb!

Hey, I don't work for Mattel or I could have told them they were headed for trouble.   ;D

The GL line was a perfect example of way over-producing.  They had the 7" BAF stuff for their core 7" collectors, the gimmicky 3.75" stuff for the kids, and a "trying to please kids and collectors" 3.75" basic figure line, which featured tons of GLC figures that kids didn't care about and no real bad guy to fight.  Also, those tons of GLC figures were based on movie re-interpretations/versions that comic-readers didn't really like and they had crappy 5-POA that the average 3.75" adult collectors thought was lame.

Excellent example of trying to serve too many masters (aka throw a bunch of stuff at the wall and see what sticks).  It's kind of that way with Bridge Directs' Hobbit stuff.  Some 3.75", some 7".  Trying to hit all three markets (kids, 3.75" collectors, 7" collectors), but never satisfying any because it's too spread out.

Next year they go on the house in October.  At least anything that requires a ladder or me climbing on the roof.

We're about a month behind you weather wise, but yeah.  Early is better.  This past weekend about half of the new neighborhood was out either measuring their new house for lights or putting them up.  I'm still in the pre-planning stage, but hope they go up this week.

And FWIW I got a membership to Costco in early October and they had Christmas stuff out then.

FWIW, I have a membership to Costco and I bought some of their Christmas stuff in late October.   :-[

We recycled our 12-year old outdoor lights when we moved (they were on their last legs anyway), so I picked up brand new LED outdoor lights for the new house...  :P

Had blast last night thanks to 1200 rowdy (drunk?) Jets fans (first time I've ever heard the home goalie taunted in his own building).  Yeah you guys 'invaded' our building, but it really only made the hometown crowd louder.  Was nice that both teams put on a pretty good show too.  And of course, it helps that we won. ;)

I'm loving my squad right now (13-4-4), with full understanding that Josh Harding's ridiculous 1.25/.946/10-0-0 home record won't hold up forever.  Still, it's a nice run for the moment and so nice to keep pace in the ridiclous West.

Seriously, a 13-4-4 record (30pts) gets you the 5th in the West?  The 8th ranked Colorado (28pts), who were leading the Central just a day ago(!), would still be #1 in the East.   :o

what the hell is a 'beer snake'?  We had one break out in our section last night...  Is this a thing you guys seriously do up there?   ???

I had to look it up on wikipedia and saw...

As a result of several minor injuries that occurred when a beer snake collapsed during a regular season Canadian Football League game, the Winnipeg Football Club banned the creation of beer snakes during Winnipeg Blue Bombers football games.[3]

Yeah... that sounds about right.   :-X

So maybe its a historical truth that big movies/TV shows have toy lines that bomb, and we are just blinded by the solitary exception.

Well all the stuff me or my brother loved as kids was either A) Star Wars or b) based on a popular after-school cartoons we watched - GI Joe, Transformers, He-Man, Superfriends, MASK - way more than any movies we saw.  They all, just like Star Wars flicks, had repeat exposure for me.

All the other "blockbusters" of the era that I saw never really captured much of a toy line.  Indiana Jones was probably my second biggest movie toy line as a kid, but even that never really took off.  Maybe you're right and it's just the fact that Star Wars is/was a really special thing and everyone has been chasing it ever since...

2008 = the launch of Clone Wars, both TV show and the CW theatrical movie push.

It also kicked off the mega-vehicle craze with the AT-TE and BMF/Falcon.

Other Collectibles / Re: Hasbro Force FX Lightsabers
« on: November 13, 2013, 09:45 AM »
Just a note that EE has a one day sale today on the Darth Maul Force FX lightsabers - regular edition is $80 and the removable blade edition is $90.  Both come with free shipping.  Nice deals if you've been toying with the idea of picking up Maul sabers. ;)

I think if they use it for army builders (Sand/stormtroopers) or variants (alt pauldron sandies, etc) or uber-popular guys like Fett/Vader, it may not be so bad.  But yeah, if they repack R2 or  Slave Leia or ROTS Obi-Wan or something it'll suck fast.

Since it sounds like Anakin has been jettisoned from Wave 3 (or is that 2014 Wave 1), I've spun off his NYCC debut posts into this thread since we assume he'll be the first figure in Wave 4 (or 2014 Wave 2, whatever you want to call it). ;)
