The Sequel Trilogy / Re: Star Wars Episode VII
« on: September 19, 2014, 09:28 AM »
Apparently Zack Snyder (Batman V Superman) and JJ Abrams have been having some weird cross-over twitter battle - between the two of them there have been pics posted of superman with a cloak and lightsaber, C-3PO (The C3Ped Crusader) standing watch over Gotham, GCPD officers arresting a stormtrooper, Batman and R2bin, etc.

Check out the twitter feeds (@ZackSnyder, @bad_robot) for a look at them.  I guess this video was the latest round of Batman vs. Star Wars thing they have going on...

The Black Series 3.75" Figures / Re: The Future of Star Wars Collecting?
« on: September 18, 2014, 10:33 PM »
Was discussing the explosion of large scale Star Wars figures with someone this morning.  It's kind of incredible how fast it's spreading.

Since Hasbro kicked off the 6" line last year, we've had...
- a new 6" line from Hasbro
- a few 6" MAFEX figures from Medicom (Japan)
- a few 6" SHFiguarts figures from Bandai (Japan)
- a new 12" 5POA line from Hasbro
- a new 12" announcement from Hot Toys (1:6 scale)
- a new 13"-15" line from Disney Stores
- a new 18" announcement from Hot Toys (1:4 scale)
- a new 21" line from Jakks Pacific
- a new 31" line from Jakks Pacific

And there could be more announcements out there

Now we can add...
- a few 6" Revoltech figures from Kaiyodo (Japan)
- a few 6" Play Arts Kai figures from Square Enix (Japan)

That's now FOUR Japanese companies with planned Star Wars figures in the 6"-7" size.  All of them with plans for Vader and at least three are planning on Stormtrooper too.

I said it before, I'll say it again - it's just amazing to me how fast and wide this large scale figure wave is spreading.  And you all know the merchandising ball is just going to get bigger and bigger as it continues to roll to Episode 7.   :-X

New pics of Revoltech Vader today.

Stands 17cm, so that's 6-11/16" by my math.  Ball jointed cape looks a little wonky, but it sets him apart from Play Arts Vader, MAFEX Vader, SHFigurts Vader, Hasbro Vader, etc. ;)

The Bullpen / Marvel "Super Awesome Me" Action Figures
« on: September 18, 2014, 11:18 AM »
Get your own Super Awesome Marvel 12" Iron Man or Captain America figure!

Think you'd look just as good as Tony Stark in an Iron Man suit? Beginning this week, you can test that theory for real.

Hasbro and 3DPlusMe are teaming on the Super Awesome Me experience, allowing kids of all ages to see their face on a customized Iron Man or Captain America action figure. The initiative launches on Friday as part of Disney Consumer Products' Marvel Super Hero September in 10 Walmart and two Sam's Club stores around the country.

Locations in New York, Los Angeles, Chicago and Houston will be outfitted with special in-store scanning stations where the machine will capture the likeness of potential superheroes, folks choose between the two characters, and their Super Awesome Me toy a personalized 12-inch articulated figure with a full-color printed head for $45 will be available to pick up at Walmart stores or shipped to Sam's Club members in four weeks.

Visit for a complete list of participating stores

I wonder how long before Disney does this for Clone Troopers and/or Stormtroopers...?   :D

Looks like pre-orders are finally going up for the first wave of Rebels/Legends figures.

It will be interesting to see if these are actually going to make it to the stores before the show airs on October 3rd.

You know...after living through Kirby Puckett's fall from grace I vowed not to ever get that emotionally involved with an athlete again...and I haven't

Not even those you baby-sat for? #didIevertellyouaboutpaulmartin

Other Toy Lines / Re: Dream Toylines

Watching Princess Mononoke tonight made me realize how much I'd love a 3.75" scale action figure line for it - Ashitaka, Yakul, San, the Wolves, Lady Eboshi, Jigo, and more.

Dammit Japan, you're really letting me down here.   :(

I saw this bumped and thought for sure it was going to be Giancarlo getting plunked in the face by a pitch...  :(

I have a place for it in my backyard if they're looking for a place to keep it after filming is done. #ultimatehancollectible

Well, we did our games draft last weekend and training camp is right around the corner so I thought it was time for a new thread... :)

After all the drafting, ticket-swapping, and game-sharing was agreed to, it looks like I'm set for 12 games this year for my 1/4 share:

Thu, Oct 23 Phoenix
Sun, Nov 16 Winnipeg
Sat, Nov 29 St. Louis
Wed, Dec 17 Boston
Fri, Jan 2 Toronto
Thu, Jan 8 Chicago
Mon, Jan 19 Columbus
Mon, Feb 9 Vancouver
Tue, Feb 24 Edmonton
Sun, Mar 8 Colorado
Sat, Mar 28 Los Angeles
Sat, Apr 4 Detroit

A nice mix.  Four from the Central (WIN, STL, CHI, COL), four from the Pacific (PHX, LA, VAN, EDM), and four from the Eastern Conference (TOR, DET, BOS, CBJ).

The Black Series 3.75" Figures / Re: The Black Series 3.75" - Wave 6
« on: September 10, 2014, 10:49 AM »
Case of 12 is up for pre-order at EE, with free shipping too!  September expected date.

2x #01 R5-G19
2x #02 Luke (Wampa'd Face)
2x #03 Darth Vader
2x #04 Darth Malgus
2x #05 Starkiller
2x #06 Yoda

Did they pre-sell out or take it down for another reason?

In addition to the set of 6 Jesse mentioned above, the case of 12 is back on the website again as well...

I'm still not sure why EE pulled it off the site for a few weeks - don't know if they listed it too early and had to pull it or if they were worried about allocation or something, but it's back now along with the set of 6 half-case.

Star Wars Rebels / Re: Star Wars Rebels Hero Series X-Wing

I know there's this unbridled hate for this ship, but it's really a shame people don't look at it with a more positive light.  The thought of building this from the ground up was always daunting to me.  Now, I'm just ecstatic they've put out a solid base to work with.

Hasbro apologist!!!  How dare you enjoy something they made without bitching first... if you're not careful some websites are going to be demanding you turn in your collector card.   :-\
