According to Adam May's Blog ovet at GH, the Rebel Ground Crew figure may be a prehash of Willrow Hood's body.

And we may not get this figure in the set after all if ICMG is in production at the same time. Seriously, what will they substitute with? A Rebel Honor Guard in grey? The POTJ Imperial Officer/ATST Driver mold? Neither is right, and now that I've seen it, I want this Ground Crew figure!

Way to plan, Hasbro!!

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Is Yoda a coward?
« on: July 25, 2008, 03:42 PM »
I go a completely different way on this.

The whole point of the Prequel Trilogy (to me) is that the Jedi were doing things the wrong way and wound up getting destroyed because of it. The only Jedi who got it right was Qui-Gon Jinn--rather than listen to the Jedi Code and the millenia of assumptions made there, he listens to the Living Force.

When the Jedi die in the Geonosis Arena, they are gone. When Qui-Gon died, he continued to exist as a part of the Living Force, to the point where he could communicate with Yoda (seen in AOTC) and eventually Obi-Wan (cut from ROTS).

Yoda sees the triumph of Qui-Gon at last when he is nearly defeated by Sidious. If he had died then, it would have been over. To truly be able to defeat the Emperor, he will need to be able to go on even after dying. So he goes into exile, to learn from Qui-Gon's spirit how to fully commune with the Living Force, and effectively admits the Jedi Order was wrong all this time.

None of this even touches on the Skywalker kids (who I think Yoda did not want trained, but that is a different subject entirely.)

I'm looking forward to the new Falcon too. I haven't bought one since my parents bought me gave in to my relentless pleas back in '79. Cool as it was, it was not a favorite toy through the years, and I wound up prefering my Slave I and B-Wing for figure adventures.

When the vintage one was rereleased in '95 (and '04 and '05) I was not bothered by passing on it. I figure holding out on the three previous modern releases has paid for the new one.

The Clone Wars '08-'13 / Re: Not a Lot at Target?
« on: July 17, 2008, 07:21 PM »
I was at my local Target this afternoon and they were set up (without having anything out yet.) Tags were in place for figures, ships, battle packs, evolutions, and the at-te...

...but not the falcon...

hopefully it winds up on its own endcap display. I have a giftcard I want to use toward the purchase as well.

Here is a big poster showing this wave (I think for the first time?):

Grievous may just be correct scale, now how will his arms work out?

126
Isn't it strange, but I'm excited about Jodo Kast as well...the most obvious repaint of all time, but a figure I've wanted since the line started.

Edit: Found a picture of this wave over at Galactic Hunter too...

now what's the difference between an Imperial Engineer and a Gunner..?

And it will potentially save slots in the Basic Figure lineup for more collector oriented characters.

Except we are getting a new Tatooine Ben in the ANH wave, correct? Unneccesary overlap there (esp. since the new one will probably have knee joints.)

I am really hoping for a VOTC Luke here. I have always been a champion of the figure, and with a different fabric for his tunic it could wind up working better than the original (also might be even more poofy, but I'm trying to be optimistic.) At the same time, I would totally buy the set if it came with 30AC Luke with a different headsculpt. I just pray it is not EB Luke!

As far as the bad guys, the biker BPs (and the new Clone Wars BPs) don't include an enemy to fight either, so there is precedent.

My take on how this set got greenlighted is the success of the EE Mandalore's last year. Multicolored bodyswaps and some ringers. Hasbro was looking for something else in the same vein and came upon this old concept.

On the one hand, at least it is already existing EU and not something they totally made up like the rainbow Mandos. On the other hand, Mandos are uniquely Star Wars looking, while Royal Guard Trainees are boring-old earth ninjas straight out of Mortal Kombat.

Nothing here to make me want it. (and for the record I passed on the EE Mandos too.)

In a QnA over at Sandtroopers, Habro confirmed there will be a Battle Pack this fall featuring Luke, Ben, Threepio and Artoo specifically to go along with the BMF. All are repacks.

So what are we looking for? I'm figuring the POTJ Ben (since it was the robeless variety), VOTC Luke (with POTF2 helmet), VOTC Artoo (with the interchangable panel again so he can "plug in" to the ship) and probably ROTS Threepio (since the more appropriate Saga2 Threepio will already be out in the legends line.)

Would be nice if they could fit in a VOTC Leia too to bring this home as a 5-figure pack, but I wouldn't hold my breath.

Star Wars Dioramas and Displays / Home One Shelf Display
« on: July 12, 2008, 01:10 PM »
Hey guys. I've finished another one. A little bit longer than I was expecting to take, I had a heckuva spring with my wife in the hospital and all sorts of work stuff, but I have completed my Home One Shelf.

A big part of the slow down in work here for me was due to trying to figure out how to build the step-ups. I seriously redid the three levels four times before settling on this configuration (which of course is almost exactly the same as my first version.) That got me burned out on this thing for long stretches of time, and I think it's more of an abandoned project than a finished one, (some areas are not as good as I'd like) but so be it.

I have to say I really enjoyed the back wall and all that panel work.

Once again it is designed to hold another, slimmer shelf above, this time thru the jutting doorways.

I did more sticker design on this one than I've done since the Death Star. I'm pretty pleased with the results of the big wall terminals in particular.

Look for updates more frequently, as I'm gonna tackle some of the smaller shelves for the second tiers of these things, and I totally expect those to go much quicker. I've got one more big one to do, but as it is going to be EU themed I haven't quite decided what the motif will be.

Thanks as always for looking!

The Legacy Collection '08-'10 / Re: Wal-Mart Droid Factory Sets
« on: July 7, 2008, 09:32 PM »
Another question for those of you that have purchased these sets already...

Do the R3PO and K3PX figures come apart as build-a-droid figures, or are the joints fixed? If they do break down, do the parts swap with C3PX parts?

I have a suspicion they don't come apart since it hasn't been mentioned, but this would go a long way towards getting me to buy these buggers.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Ye Olde Nintendo

Has anyone here picked up WiiPlay?

I did as well. The shooting game was fun, pool was good once you get the hang of the control, and the "find Mii!" game is a lot of fun (IMO) especially if you have a lot of identifiable friends/family/random Star Wars characters saved in your Mii's. Fishing, light hockey, ping-pong and whatever else are pretty skippable.

I would totally recommend the package deal.

10. Lumiya

Pretty sure Lumiya is confirmed for a comic pack...looks like you get another pick!!

Joruus C'Baoth
Borsk Fey'lya
Khabarakh/Rukh 2-pack (c'mon, Noghri are supposed to be small)
Corran Horn (pilot gear)

Joe Defender / G.I. Joe Toys Thread

Never thought they'd do Cobra La in the new line. I guess Crystal Ball and Ice Cream Soldier can't be far behind? That pack's a definite buy for me.

Not only is Crystal Ball coming, but his head is being p/rehashed for the Star Wars EU Talon Karrde figure:
