The Force Awakens / Re: Force Friday: What are You Buying?

Good question. I took September 4 off of work since I have to go to Houston the next day anyway, otherwise I wouldn't be able to go (like most sane people). I'll probably hit TRU since there's one 5 minutes from where I live. Only problem is it's at an intersection of 2 major highways, so it will probably be crowded. I figure I'll go mostly for the experience, then hit up a Wal-Mart afterwards.

I'm going to hit up the LEGO store the next morning and grab whatever they have too. I was there the other day to get the TPM poster and talked with the manager, who said they already have the sets in the back, will put them out on the 4th, and it will be cheaper than TRU.

How bad are TRU MM crowds? The only one I've done was for Clone Wars, and I just hit a Wal-Mart and had to battle a crowd of roughly 8 people. Might be worth just going to a Wal-Mart and skipping TRU entirely.

PLEASE just be a hologram voiced by the dude who voices Tarkin in Rebels...

I dunno, the CGI Arnold in Terminator Genisys was alright, but you literally see a quick shot of his face followed by a bunch of quick cuts during a fight scene. Tarkin doesn't fight, he just stands there and talks. We could hit the Uncanny Valley really quick.

Other Collectibles / Re: Medicom 6" MAFEX Star Wars figures

They look good, but considering Vader hasn't even been released yet, it will probably be a few years til we get our hands on them. :P

Had a chance to open up Luke over the weekend (but too lazy to take pictures, go figure). It's a great figure, and matches well with the SH Figuarts Vader and Stormtrooper.

Probably my favorite feature is the alternate heads... and they worked in the Japanese "face swapping" mechanisms. Essentially, you can either swap heads, or swap just the faces, so for example, you can have a neutral expression Luke with the windy hair, or angry Luke with normal hair. Another feature I love is that the right wrist joint is flesh colored, so it looks like the glove comes "untucked" from the sleeve. Very weird thing to like, I know.

I do have the Hasbro Black Series Jedi Luke and did some comparisons... I do like a few things better on Hasbro's version, shockingly. For example, Hasbro had the separate chest panels for if you want to display Luke with his shirt's flap up or down. None of that with the Figuarts figure. Also I like Hasbro's lightsaber better, as the handle is more rubbery and easier to put in the figure's hands. Also, Hasbro painted the belt buckle silver while Bandai left it black. Not sure which is the screen accurate version.

Can't forget about the alternate unmasked Vader head that Luke comes with. It's something that should have come with Vader, but no complaints. It looks great, especially since Vader comes with a chopped off hand piece. Fooling around with the two though made me realize that Bandai's Vader is a tad bit too short... Luke comes up to his nose when I feel he should come up to Vader's chin maybe.

Just wish I could track down a few more Stormtroopers. :P

I kind of like it as well... as an updated/modified POTF2 Falcon, it looks great. Only part I don't "get" is the Nerf cannon. I won't be buying one, but I bet it will sell well.

I was pumped until the last few minutes of Talking Dead before the show when the producer dude was like "The reason people will like this show is because they know more than the characters!" Umm, no. The reason I was looking forward to it is because this is essentially Walking Dead that isn't tied to the comic, meaning we have no idea what will happen with the characters. Literally anything can happen and anyone can die! I was also looking forward to the possibility of learning what started the outbreak. But that line made it seem like they didn't understand the audience at all.

I mean I'll stick with it unless it gets REALLY bad (plus the 22 year old girl playing a high schooler is attractive enough for a few watches) but not a great start.

Got Jedi Luke in the mail yesterday. Haven't had a chance to open him yet but I'll snap some pics this weekend since I have the Hasbro Black Series version too. One thing I notice from the packaging: the hair looks gold, as in it's shiny. Love how it comes with the alternate unmasked head for Vader.

- LEGO Millennium Falcon
- BB-8/scavenger set
- Ahsoka/Vader Rebels set
- Zeb/Chopper Rebels set
- Black Series 6 inch Finn/Rey/Kylo/Stormtrooper
- Micro Machines (all)

Trying to keep my budget at around $250 for MM and spread out the rest of the purchases over the coming months, with the 3.75 inch stuff being on the chopping block if I feel I'm spending too much. I eventually plan on snagging all of the LEGO sets and some of the 3.75 inch stuff, but the LEGOs are all expensive for some reason, so I'll wait for some deals.

Didn't want to start a new thread, but I saw pictures of the new Micro Machines in the TFA Product Catalog and I could not be more hyped for this line. I think I'm looking forward to these than anything else. Lots of OT, PT and TFA goodness.

That's 10 cents more than what they're currently charging for Black Series figures! I'm thinking everything for this line is a "Wait for BOGO/Clearance"

Agreed with what has been said already...

The BB-8 set is a must-buy for BB-8, and like Jesse said, aliens are aliens (and they could be army builders too?). Zeb/Chopper is a must-buy for people like me who have never even seen a Chopper in the wild, so kudos to Hasbro for that set. I'll probably pick up Ahsoka and Vader for the novelty of having an animated Vader.

I WANT a 3PO/R2 set, but I mean I have the OT version already and managed to get that set with decent paint. Never saw a Rebels version with good paint, so we'll see, but I can't help but think a TFA 3PO would be one of the first figures in a SA line since we have some SA 3PO's already that they could easily repaint.

Got Wave 2 of the Die Cast ships at Target earlier. Red 5 X-Wing (with open S-foils), Red 3 X-Wing (closed S-foils) and the TIE Fighter. There's also a Vulture Droid from ROTS in the wave.

I am all in for this format change. I try to get involved with basketball each year, but I still don't even know how the scoring system works. All of my guys could have great nights and I'll lose 2 points, then I forget about the league for 2 weeks and find I've gained 10 points despite starters being injured or having terrible games. Would be easier to stay interested too.

It's weird because the two dudes on the right make this feel, to me, like a goofy adventure flick instead of a Star Wars movie. I like the OT elements in the rest of the cast, even the PT elements in the background. ;)
