Original Trilogy Collection / Re: We Need More Cantina Figures!
« on: March 16, 2004, 09:30 AM »
Yeah, I'm kind of hoping that this news isn't true...as far as being a K-Mart exclusive (although, that is better than not getting it at all).  There is one K-Mart somewhat close to us, but it has always been a wasteland in the toy section.  I haven't visited it for over a year, because they rarely had anything...it was out of the way for us...and the prices were always higher.  Last time (and only times I think) that I bought something there was the 300th Boba Fett way back when....and then I found a Jedi Starfighter a few weeks earlier than they were supposed to be out in 2002 and was excited for some Episode II stuff, so I picked it up.  Anyways, I'm not too crazy about K-Mart getting this, but I guess it is better than nothing.  I've enjoyed Target having many of the exclusives, I think I have at least seen every single one so far this year.

Saga '02-'04 / Re: Packaging Heaven
« on: March 16, 2004, 09:27 AM »
I agree as well.  I found the Target glass sets this weekend too (picked up Obi, left the Maul for now), and I have really been admiring the packaging on these too.  I have been thinking the same thing recently, that Hasbro has really done a nice job on improving their packaging.  I really liked the Animated Clone Wars packaging, although like Matt said that may have had some Cartoon Network influence, either way, it really popped on the pegs I thought.  Even though I check the Star Wars section each time every time, I think others in the aisle would have had their eyes drawn to that.  I'm in the same boat where I am really looking forward to the upcoming OTC packaging.  Although much of that line is re-releases, and I'm actually an opener, I have been considering picking up the re-releases anyways just for the cards.  I guess I'll have to wait until we get further pictures...but the packaging looks great, and I hope that they keep that style for quite some time.

Other Toy Lines / Re: Muppets
« on: March 15, 2004, 04:09 PM »
In case anyone didn't see it, I was looking around Palisades' site today and they have some updates in the Muppet Bits including pics of the backstage playset with Gaffer the Cat.  Also, today they posted a new update with a pic of an upcoming exclusive "Super Beaker" figure.  Most of you probably already knew this stuff, but I'm new to reading about the line so thought I would post it just in case:

Although I still don't have any figures from this line, I have been really tempted lately to start in picking up a few of my favorites.  My wife and I picked up one of those "Best of the Muppet Show" DVDs this past weekend, so that doesn't help either I suppose.  I'll probably hold off and see if I can get an Indy Kermit to start things, but Palisades really does a nice job with this line.  Anyways, Action-Figure.com has some pics from "Megacon" that includes some upcoming Muppets pics.  I think that Sweetums figure looks pretty nice.  Anyone else here still collecting this line?

Saga '02-'04 / Visual Guides (formerly of ArtoosNews) Back Online
« on: March 15, 2004, 12:14 PM »
In case anyone hadn't seen them yet, the visual guides (in the style of, and from the same people I believe who did them at AN) are back online at the following site (Jedi Temple Archives):

Jedi Temple Archives Visual Guides

I always enjoyed their visual guide style, and it really allows for some good views of the figures.  Just thought I'd post if anyone was interested.

Has anyone heard anything new when the SWS might be opening back up?  It sounded as if they would let everyone know in advance, so I am sure all the collecting sites will have it posted, just curious.  I kind of thought it might be back up sometime this week (hopefully soon).

Nothing new past the Tatooine wave again this weekend, although the Target nearest us had the Obi-Wan and Maul glass sets (2 of each).  I picked up the Obi-Wan, but held off on the Maul one for now.  I haven't decided if I want to get the prequel glasses or not, these sets are pricey enough the way it is.  Packaging looks nice though.

Well, when you've got me, you've got me Matt.  Hopefully everything is fixed to your liking

Well, I suppose that's a little better Bri.  You could've just switched the teams names though.

Yeah, I'm gonna have to say no for now.  At least until you've sat down and thought about some things, and this surprisingly bad attitude you've suddenly developed!

Yo' Celtic fan!  You need about half a case of those upcoming VOTC figures?  I've got some (pre-ordered) extras that have suddenly become available...

I'm just curious what kinda strings Scott's pulling behind the scenes here in this strangely developing situation.    Whatever he's up to, I'm gonna get him back!

Ok, ok....go....er, um.....go NBA LAKERS!  I hope EVERYONE'S teams do the best!  I can't stop using exclamation points!  How exciting!  Now can we be friends again?  :-[

Yeah, the Vin-man is kind of a sad story.  I hope for his sake that he gets his life in order.  I don't know why everyone was making quite as big of a deal about who would sign him, as I don't know if he is all that great anymore.  Maybe a 10 and 6 type of guy, but those aren't exactly impossible to find anymore.  Not surprised the Knicks picked him up though, Isaiah is on a spree over there.  Should be a dandy tonight, with full lineups in tact.  Hope it is a great game, where everyone plays well....and that's all :).

Saga '02-'04 / If You Had to Choose
« on: March 12, 2004, 04:03 PM »
Just something I was thinking about this afternoon....although this is a tough question for me, if you had to put away/sell, etc. your modern collection, and could only keep 12 figures, 1 beast/deluxe, 1 small-scale ship, and 1 large ship, which ones would you choose?  Would you go by which figures you think are the best done, your favorite characters, the most iconic characters?  Just curious which ones you would choose for yourself, from POTF2, POTJ, Episode I, or Saga.  I'll leave OTC and VOTC off for now, because I think many of us (including me) would choose some of those VOTC figures, but since they aren't out yet...we'll just leave it at the current releases (even if you don't have them yet, you can go by online pics if you like).  For me, I would probably go by the main characters, or favorites...just if I had to limit my display to this many only.  I'd also go with all OT characters I think, just because they are more appealing to me.

Figures:
1.  POTJ Han Solo - Bespin Capture
2.  Saga Chewbacca - Cloud City Escape
3.  Saga Darth Vader - Masters of the Darkside Repack/Death Star Clash
4.  Saga R2-D2 - Jabba's Sail Barge
5.  Saga Luke Skywalker - Jabba's Palace
6.  POTJ Boba Fett - 300th
7.  POTF2 Commtech Stormtrooper
8.  Saga Yoda - Jedi Master (would rather take one of the upcoming OTC/VOTC versions though)
9.  POTJ Ben "Obi-Wan" Kenobi
10.  A version of C-3PO (I only have the shiny gold POTF2 version, and the Escape Pod one, neither is great...would rather, again, have VOTC version)
11.  POTJ Princess Leia - Bespin Escape
12.  Saga Lando Calrissian - Skiff Guard Disguise

Beast/Deluxe:
1. Saga Ultra Jabba the Hutt or possibly Ultra Wampa

Small-scale Ship:
1. Saga Landspeeder

Large Ship:
1. POTF2 Millennium Falcon

Personally, I don't have all of these items (Lando, Jabba), but if I could only have a small, one shelf display...these are the ones I would choose.  Of course, if we're talking future figures, I'd take probably the entire VOTC collection for the figures, and leave the others the same.  Sorry if this is a stupid question, our servers at work are having troubles, so I've been just sitting and thinking :P.

Toy Reviews / Re: New JD Review: Jedi Luke (Jabba's Palace)
« on: March 12, 2004, 03:35 PM »
Nice job Jesse, I really enjoyed the review.  Look forward to more.  This is one of my favorite figures, and one I have been looking forward to for a long time.  I'm definitely on board with your comment that this figure could have used ball-socket elbows.  That would have been really nice.  I like the soft goods cloak too, but I just can't get it to sit just perfect....and can't decide if I want to display him with or without it (for now, with).  The paint job on the head of figure I have leaves a little to be desired though, and the knees seem kind of loose...otherwise, a great figure, and one of my favorites.  Definitely the best ROTJ Luke we have had, and probably the best Hamill likeness we've seen.  Again, good job!

I feel bad that you haven't gotten yours yet either Mikey, that is strange.  Mine had been pending for quite a long time (couple months probably), and I finally e-mailed them to just politely ask what was up...they told me that they would all be shipped this week sometime, and actually my status went from "pending" to "shipped" the next day after I wrote them (last Friday).  I got them on Tuesday I think.  Hopefully yours are on the way soon.

That is funny, nice piece of artwork there :).  I'm starting to think Kobe is going to get off too, and if he is innocent, he should.  The only thing I don't want to see is everyone being all "poor Kobe" even though he was still an admitted adulterer....a label that is overlooked way too often with athletes and celebrities I think.  But, if he didn't rape her, then he should go to jail, I agree.  Hopefully they will find out the real truth in this case, whatever it may be.

Big game between the Wolves and Lakers tonight, both will most likely be at full strength too.  Wish the game was on ESPN or something...but NCAA conference tourneys will put the kibosh on that I think.  Should be a good one, have fun at the game Scott!

Oh yeah, I forgot about Simpsons...add that to my list as well.  Just interested in the line because I like the show so much, always wanted to pick up a Homer and a Ralph...but I know that would lead to more.  So far behind now though, used to peruse the ebay auctions once in awhile for those figures though.
