Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Are there any products you endorse?
« on: January 10, 2005, 12:41 PM »
I've been driving (in winter) on Arctic Alpin's now for six years.  The difference with winter tires is pretty remarkable.  I expect they're not too sensible in places that don't have continuous snow, but up here I don't know how I used to drive without them.

Agreed.  They're worth every penny, even if those pennies did add up to $900.    :)  -> ::)

What I don't like?  Being forced to buy the lug nuts from the GM dealer.  I bought steel rims from Canadian Tire to use just with my winter tires, but of course they wouldn't work with the lug nuts from the mags that my car came with.  So my only option was to spend $150 on bloody new ones that, of course, only GM makes.  Somebody at GM is making some money.   >:(

Brrr is right.  -33oC right now, I think I'll be waiting a couple hours before I go anywhere.  It's my day off, and I'm happy to stay right here and hang out with my daughter.

No wind chill at the moment, so it's positively balmy ::)

At least we've got that going for us too.   :-\

Although, there is a chance that I've got some Star Wars figures waiting for me at the post office...  Ah, yes, another advantage to small town living - no door to door postal service.  Frick.

Good luck!  And at least you know he's going to waste his money on toys, not booze (or whatever other unacceptable expense should be inserted there).  Let us know if he turns out to be a Jedi or Sith.  :)

Michelin X-Ice Winter Tires.  Incredible, absolutely incredible.  Last year, my wife and I bought our 2003 Pontiac Vibe GT in August - the 6 speed standard is very fun to drive in the summer.  But when the winter came, I absolutely hated the car.  The peppy engine loved to rotate those tires and I could never get any traction, whether trying to move or stop.

But this year?  It's a totally new car.  I put these on about a month ago, and I'm enjoying the car again.  Granted, the tires will still spin, but they'll grab a lot sooner, and I havent slid through an intersection yet since putting them on.  Stopping is good!   8)

Now that looks sharp in the frame!  My brother is a huge Reservoir Dogs fan, he'd love that on his wall.  Lucky man, Dave.   :)

On another note, a Chrome Sandtrooper showed up on eBay, but was grabbed pretty quickly.  The buyer grabbed it for the BIN of $500US.  If  it didn't have a BIN, I think this could have gone for a LOT more.

What's with this obsession over chrome at GG lately?

Even though I've got the Chrome Vader and Jango, and 2 of the regular Stormtrooper busts, I think I'll be passing on this one.  I just don't think that the Chrome version can live up to the original version.  Thankfully, I'm not feeling my completist gene kick in on this one...

I was just checking out your website Brad.  Great stuff.  I think my favourite is the warrior against the dragon here.  I really like the way the dragon's claws extend beyond the border of the picture, it makes the warrior seems in even greater danger.   8)

The Reservoir Dogs pics here and here are also pretty neat.  I think I actually prefer the uncoloured drawing.  I know that they are coloured based on their names, but the colouring seems to take away from your art.  In this case, simpler is better.   :)

Original Trilogy Collection / Re: VOTC/OTC Purchases

I also had the chance to be annoyed at myself for paying full price on an OTC Falcon, to finally see it on clearance for $24.

Yikes.  It hurts to hear that - I paid $90 CDN for my Falcon ($73 US) at TRU.  And they're still that price today, and with about 20 of them on the shelves at one TRU.  I almost don't want to see them go on clearance, knowing what I paid.

Kubricks / Re: Power of the Kubricks!

I came across it during my search for loose Fett chase pieces and gave it one of these:   ::)

I agree, my  :o was more out of "are you kidding me" than "thats awesome". I guess  ::) would have been appropriate.  ;D

I'd give it one of these:  >:(

I understand using AFA to "prove" to people the condition of an item, but this is just stupid.  Plain and simple.

Anybody know if they are going to be selling them to foreigners outside the UK??

I just went to their website, and went through the ordering process as far as entering my credit card info.  When I entered my country, it never told me it couldn't be shipped to me.  Now, I didn't actually order it, because I'm not willing to spend this much.  But it appears that I can be ordered outside the UK.

That being said, I decided to e-mail them and ask first.  When I get a response, I'll let you know.

Polish 3rd Generation Bootlegs

Well, at least the Polish make their Imperial Commanders happy!  That must have been Veers' smile as he blew up the shield generator.   ;)

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Super Hero/Comic Book Movies
« on: January 8, 2005, 12:02 AM »
I'm personally really looking forward to the Man of Steel returning to the big screen.

I totally agree.  It's been too long since we've since a well done Superman movie.

On an unrelated note, Nicholas Cage is going to be Johnny Blaze, otherwise known as Ghost Rider.  Well, I love Cage's stuff, but I'm not sure he can pull off role.  We'll see.  Ever since Marvel started this craze of super hero movies, GR has been at the top of my list.  My brother was a huge fan, and got me hooked.  And now that the technology exists to do the special effects properly, this could be one hell of a movie.

I signed up as #1541.

Hah!  I loved  #1543's statement.

Speaking of Ashlee S., a funny editorial article on MSN, detailing why she should leave the professional singing industry.  Check it out HERE.

That's got to be one of the most hilarious editorials I've read.  My favourite line: Ashlee’s singing sounded like a cross between a political prisoner being tortured and a test of the Emergency Broadcast System.
