I think there were some ideas that he had in mind all along and some he didn't.

Vader being Luke's Father?  Definitely.  I think there were clues in ANH about this....the exchange between Owen and Beru about Luke.

Luke and Leia being brother and sister.  Maybe I'm reading a little too much into it, but I think there are subtle hints in ANH for this as well.  Just the way Ben looks at Luke after viewing the message from Leia.  I think it was one of those ideas GL was toying with, and when he made the sequels, he decided to expound on it.  (afterall, Luke needed someone to train post ROTJ.)

Some things he made up along the way: Qui-Gon Jinn (not originally part of the grand scheme but he fits quite well), Jar-Jar Binks (probably best kept out of the whole thing), Watto (another idea that popped into his head) and stuff along those lines in the prequels.

Good writers always have some over-arcing plot, but they leave room to add things.  Hell, GL even substituted wookies in ROTJ for Ewoks because he made Wookies far less primitive than he needed for the script.

From what I can tell, the "fuel tank" sequence was to occur just after Grievous murdered Shaak Ti in front of Anakin and Obi-Wan on The Invisible Hand.  Once Grievous had impaled her from behind (minds out of the gutter!), loads of droids would converge on Anakin and Obi-Wan, who would then use their lightsabers to cut a hole in the floor (similar to what Anakin did with the elevator) and drop through to the next level.

How could Grievous kill Shaak Ti when you see her in the Jedi Coucil later on in the movie?

I think I remember George Lucas saying something similar to what MommySkywalker just mentioned.

I thought he did overthrow Sidious....did y'all miss that part in Return of the Jedi?  :o

Can I scratch them off and send you the ones that don't win? ;D

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Any ROTS figures you will pass on?

I've skipped on the Battle arenas and the figures with the cups.

My Air Force callsign is Obi-Wan.  No big mystery here!   ;D

Very cool looking.  I have the Luke (btw...what's up with that pose on the Luke off to the looks like he's about to drop a deuce!), and I have a Vader pre-ordered (should be here soon!).

The quality is amazing on these....I'm thinking that stormtrooper is a must have!  How about an Obi-Wan in the future Medicom?!

The Original Trilogy / Re: The Meeting
« on: June 4, 2005, 06:38 PM »
Meh....I think it's ok.  I would think Vader would be more out to prove he was right rather than pissed off.  He's also had about 20 years to temper his fury for revenge.

It is a dish best served cold btw.

The Original Trilogy / Re: Why have a 2nd Death Star in ROTJ?
« on: June 4, 2005, 06:36 PM »
Believe it or not, I totally can buy that it took 20 years to complete the first Death Star.  If you ever look at how the military brings a new weapon system from the drawing board to the front lines, it's a long process and takes about the same amount of time.

Plus, dealing with a prototype, there's going to be all sorts of unforseen problems which slows down the production.  I could see this being even worse with a moon-sized space station!  Once you get the first one done, making subsequent modaels are much easier, since you have learned to overcome most of the obstacles making the original.

I could also see that the Emperor would want a bunch of Death Stars.  These things aren't exactly the fastest moving vehicles in the galaxy, and you'd really need a bunch of them to keep the rebellious star systems in line.

I think they all look good, but I'm kind of suprised that they didn't go with soft goods for Obi-Wan's cloak so he could sit in the starfighter.

Just an odd choice imo.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: What figures are hard to find now?
« on: June 2, 2005, 08:18 PM »
The two toughest to find figures for me have been:

Red Royal Guard (never saw him at retail)
AT-TE Gunner (only saw twice at retail)

Power of the Force 2 / Re: The Beginning of POTF2

When the POTF2 figures came out, I stumbled across them in the store and thought it was pretty neat to see SW figures on the pegs after about a decade, but didn't collect them.

The first POTF2 figures I got were two Theater Edition Lukes when I went to see ROTJ SE in the theater opening day.

I didn't really get into collecting them until 1999 when TPM came out, and then I was mainly collecting Episode 1 figures,, but eventually went after the POTF2 stuff as well....especially when the quality improved.
