Any word on the Mimban Trooper?

Conventions / Colorado Springs Comic Con
« on: August 25, 2017, 05:03 PM »
Starts today.

It's obviously not the biggest and best Con out there, but we get Billy Dee Williams!  I'm taking the boys tomorrow, and I've actually never been to a Comic Con before, so I figured baby steps are in order.

Watto's Junk Yard / Shameless plug for a friend's new book.
« on: June 21, 2017, 11:53 AM »
I have a friend that is a great storyteller and TOR is finally releasing his first novel.  It's called Graveyard Shift and it's available for preorder and will be out next month.  You don't have to go into this Chapter One is available online now.

He wrote this as an anti-twilight book (unfortunately, it's been held up for about 5 years), but he's given me insight into the characters when we were working together and I'm excited for him that this book is finally coming out!

He has a great idea for a story about the Star Destroyer Avenger crew Mutinying after Vader kills Captain Needa.  I'm hoping that his book does well enough that Disney/Lucasfilm will buy that idea!

The Wookiee Arcade / Star Wars: Uprising

I don't know if anyone else is playing this one, but I have for a while and it's got a pretty good story taking place right after the events of ROTJ.  Basically, the Regional Governor of the Anoat sector has set up an iron blockade and has supressed the news of the Emperor's death at Endor.  As you grind through missions and advance, you eventually find a blocked transmission from Princess Leia about the death of the Emperor and you go on to try and liberate the various systems in the secotr.

There's a lot of grinding and resource gathering and leveling up.  But the story is pretty fun.  There's also a guild (known as Cartels) system, and I recently started a Jedi Defender cartel if anyone ese is playing.

Watto's Junk Yard / The Expanse
« on: December 17, 2015, 08:35 AM »
I've kind of been sucked back into the Sci Fi channel and started watching the Expanse.  The first two episodes have aired, and the pilot is readily available on Youtube.  It looks pretty good so far.

The Sequel Trilogy / The new TIE Fighters
« on: September 24, 2015, 01:45 PM »
Ok, so this one has been bothering me for a while, because I really am not sure what to make of it.

The original TIE fighters were white/grey with black "solar" panels.  The new ones are black with light colored panels.  Now solar panels are black because they absorb all colors across the visual spectrum (plants absorb every color of the spectrum except green so they don't overheat).  Now a light colored solar panel would be completely inneficient, so why have a light colored solar panel on the new TIE fighter?

Are they not solar panels like we've thought for the past 38 years?

Is this just another JJ Abrams "Look I reversed it so it's new!" tactic like he and that moron Lindeloff did to Star Trek?

Does the technology work different in the SW universe?

Am I overthinking this?  (Quite possible!)

What do y'all think?

Other Collectibles / Anyone here in the 501st?
« on: April 30, 2015, 08:49 PM »
I saw on the front page a while ago that deal for Stormtrooper armor a while back and after researching the company and all I could about them on the FISD boards, I decided to buy a kit ($350 until May 4th I couldn't resist).

I have a friend in my squadron who is in the 501st and he's been trying to talk me into it.  Hopefully, this armor will be able to pass muster with his help.

I was curious if anyone else around here is a member.  I think they do a lot of cool stuff for kids, and my oldest loves Stormtroopers, so I thought I would give it a go.
