Other Collectibles / Re: Star Wars Passes
« on: August 5, 2005, 10:42 AM »
Well, my C3 set of passes showed up today and I am impressed.  The box is a little bigger than I thought it would be, but then so are the passes.  They're larger than the Insider and C1 passes that are already in my collection.

The etched cover completely slides off to allow access to the passes inside which are securely held in by the protective foam.

The pricepoint may be a bit hight, but considering what I would've paid to try and get each pass individually off of ebay and the nice box, I think it's not so bad.

Just a shame that none of them are autographed like they were in my C1 set.  (ok so it was only the Jar-Jar one but of them's autographed!)

I think I saw the same one that SLC saw.  Which I had picked it up as well.

I can't say enough how I like the use of legos.  I really like the Imperial officer in the Pith Helmet!  Very creative stuff.

Only thing I saw was a small inconsistency where they were told they could leave their ship in the hanger and the very next line has them flying the Falcon to the mansion.  Very minor stuff though.

Nice effort I like the story idea, but I would've liked to see some more.

Maybe you could work on backdrops instead of furniture as a setting so you could use older pics in the future.

That video is crap. Maybe I just liked Nancy Sinatra too much.

You guys know somebody hacked Vida Guerra's cell Phone cam, right?

Ok, I'll bite, who's Vida Guerra and why should I care?

The C3 exclusive wasn't a gold was the Dark Chrome ROTS Obi-Wan saber.

Sith Lord Chaos managed to pick me up one when he was there, it's a sweet looking saber.

Gamespot has a preview of the game, including some videos.  Some of the levels look the same (Geonosis, Yavin, Jabba's Palace), but you also get a look at Courscant and an updated Kashyyk.

Check it out here.

Metallica - Master of Puppets.

Dare I say, the best in the Metallica catalogue.

I am on a permanent boycott of Metallica.  I refuse to listen to a band that would sue their own fans!  >:(

The ISS has always relied on the Shuttle for orbit correction.  The Shuttle can use its engines to correct the orbit much better than the ones on the station itself.

I just finished a course for my Master's Degree dealing with Aircraft and Spacecraft design and we spent a lot of time discussing the Shuttle and the ISS.  The Shuttle's engines are truly amazing and they were a huge challenge when they were designing the shuttle.  Not only for the thrust/power requirements, but they are also the first liquid propellent rocket engines that are reusable!

I remember the mission where the paint chip hit the shuttle's window and went about 3/4 inch into it.  It brought the issue of space-junk into light.  I think it happened in the late 80's (maybe early 90's) to Columbia if I recall correctly.

I doubt that's much to worry about.  It's nowhere near any of the leading edges and will not feel a fraction of the friction.
