Power of the Force 2 / Re: AT-AT walker
« on: June 30, 2005, 07:38 PM »
I was poking around inside the POTF2 AT-AT, taking the batteries out for long-term storage. Anyway, I couldn't find a way to take the stupid electronic box out. Is it possible? I'm just curious, since they stopped working on one of my AT-ATs, even after I put fresh batteries in.

I was going to try, but never go around to it. I think you can, but you have to do some dissasembling.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Ever Walk Out of A Movie?
« on: June 30, 2005, 01:19 PM »
^ A week or so ago I slept through Casablanca in my Intro to Film class. Most of the films we've seen so far are interesting to one degree or another, but I've never seen Casablanca and it just doesn't appeal.

I don't have to worry about it being on a test because everything in the course is take-home essays; if need be I could rent the DVD and watch it.

Casablana is a "How to write a screenplay" movie. I you like movies, you won't regret watching this.

I kind of had a similar thing with Citizen Kane, but instead of sleelping through it, a couple of guys in the class and I skipped it to go skiing. I don't regreat skiing, but I do regret not watching the movie. I never saw Citizen Kane until 10 years later when my friend got it for me as a gift. IMO, it's one if the finest films ever made and I was kicking myself for going so long having never seen it.

On Topic:

I've only ever walked out of movies where other people are talking or had brought babies.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Official Movie Thread
« on: June 30, 2005, 01:07 PM »
As far as the sappy ending, I'm glad the Speilberg sticks to his guns. It seems that people these days want down endings, but he doesn't care, and does it his way.

*****SPOILER*****

I think people want realistic endings, one fitting of the film just viewed. We had just watched 90 minuties of the human race being exteminated starting with big cities like Boston. Everyone was on a run for their lives, and here are four people who looked like they just stayed at home and watched the caos from the windows. Definately a questionable artistic decision, but not a questionable studio decision. I'm not arguing that the familiy should have died, I just think they could have at least showed that they had gone through hell too. I expect better from Spielberg.

*****End Spoiler*****

Overall I liked it though, very intense for me.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: TRU Exclusive Clones!
« on: June 30, 2005, 12:30 PM »
I still don't understand why these are exclusives.  Ok, I get that Hasbro/TRU can crank the price, knowing we'll buy these, but they also know that any clone, whatever the color, is like money in the bank.  Would you want 50,000 of them out there, or 100,000?  More?  These colors would sell forever as part of any future assortment.

Let's just hope there isn't a limited run, just because they are going to be exclusives doesn't automatically catagorize them as limited.  I also think TRU does a better job with quantity in general.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: New Clone 5 Pack!
« on: June 30, 2005, 12:27 PM »
Hmmm..if this is a Tarhet exclusive, it could get pricey.  Let's see, they charge 12 for one clone, so five clones should be 60.00!

$64.99 to be exact. ;)

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Can Sith Beat Titanic?
« on: June 29, 2005, 12:29 PM »
Episode 3 is very top 10 worthy.. However, JP beaten by Titanic? LOTR? That's what I don't get.

LOTR's success was very impressive due to the length of each film alone, it's very unusual for such epics to do that well. As for Titanic, it's already been stated, Titanic reached and appealed to just about every target demographic, especially the older generation who seldom flock to movies.

JP was just a dinosaur movie. ::) ;D

Vintage Kenner / Re: Wow
« on: June 28, 2005, 08:31 PM »
Because of this thread, I randomly went onto ebay yesterday just to poke around. I don't have any carded vintage and, but plan to start when I have better cash flow. Anyway, sorry to not have the link, but I found a 12 back stormtrooper with a BIN for $50. It was in decent shape with rough edges, but in a case they would have flatted out. I seriously must have missed it by 30 seconds because it was just listed and already bought. :'(

Turns out, a guy was getting rid of some of his carded stuff and was listing a new one every 15 - 20 minutes. I kept refreshing, but I couldn't get any, as soon as they got listeded, someone was able to buy it before I could click on it. It was like trying to win tickets on a radio station. Among what he listed was a 12 back Leia in excellent shape for $110 BIN, Lobot, an At-At driver and Teebo for $50 BIN each and an Ugnaught in excellent shape for $30 BIN. Some day, I will get good deals like this.

Eeeeeeeeeeeek!  I just went looking in completed auctions. The Ugnaught went for $29. Stormtrooper for $49. Jawa for $30. by the same bidder. The Leia, Dengar, Chirpa, AT-AT Driver and Lobot auctions were ended by the seller. "The seller ended this listing early because the item is no longer available for sale".

I would not be surprised if the bidder contacted the seller and made a deal for them all.

How about that Stormtrooper though? Not bad, huh?

Irony is in the air. We complain about the new scuplts for the basic figure clones and the deluxe gives us the same deluxe sculpts that we don't want. ???

For some reason where I live(winter haven, florida) with all the Targets , Wal-marts and toys R us near me. I still cannot find one on the shelfs. I might just have to purchase one off line.

They just started hiting last week, and only at TRU. Give it a few weeks for them to actually start hitting in force and at other stores.
