Vintage Kenner / Re: Do You Display Your Vintage Figures?
« on: January 15, 2019, 12:39 PM »
Sadly, my vintage figures are all being store in acid-free bags in SW figure cases under my bed. I'd like to build a custom display case with some UV protection glass before breaking them out for display again.

I would agree that 3 AT-ATs are the general wish, but I'm curious if there were any purists why say 5 due to the establishing shot with 5 in the frame. Where did those two go anyway?

I own 5 BAT-AT's and would love to display them all if I had the space. I only opened a 2nd one for my time-lapse video.

There's one shot with 14 of my 16 AT-ST's.

Have you guys not seen my time-lapse video? The link is in my signature.

It's my 1000 trooper Imperial Battalion.

I agree that the sandstorm Lando is pretty much the ultimate Skiff Guard Lando. Won't begrudge Hasbro at all for re-releasing this with a photo-real head, minus Sandstorm gear.

2) EV 9D9 update
3) 8D8 update
4) Hoth Bikerscout (from incredible cross-sections)

6) Commander Praji
7) Theron Nett: Red 10 -  the last Yavin pilot to make!
8) Velken Tezari
9) Mon Calamari officer update
10) Bespin Guard pictured in the vintage photo

But all the tooling is complete.  Am I missing something here?

I think so. And me as well. My mind says the same thing, but apparently it's a factor. I don't know what that means exactly on the manufacturing/production end. But, I've interview Hasbro many time and they keep saying that tooling is a huge factor. Jedi-Jman can probably shed some light.

I'm a die hard 3.75" collector. The 6 inch scale is nicely done and interesting to dabble in but, I'll put my foot down with the 5" should it come to fruition.

Truth be told, I'll be perfectly happy with less product per year, just as long as we get some product.

I'd take a new Y-Wing, though I like having 4 unique fighters that we have now.

My chief vote is what I had been saying - X-Wing with decals/stickers to create custom fighters - Red 4, 6 etc. But, I'd take Red Leader and Red 2 re-do's as well.

Would LOVE a new Imperial Shuttle. I wonder if it'd be possible to do something modular? -- make an Imperial Shuttle that you can disassemble/reassemble to add a troop transport cabin. I'd buy 2. Could be a great Haslab project.

I'd be curious who is driving the crazy price on this one - it its Hasbro, Wal-Mart, or some combo.  For all we know Hasbro sold it to Wal-Mart assuming the price point was going to be $50 and they marked it up a ton more.

Hasbro's been saying for years that the tooling costs keep going up. Said that if the Big AT AT was released today, it'd have to retail for $250.

Iím all ears.  I just am happy when stuff I like is available.

I got a Mimban Stormtrooper and itís depressing me I canít have 100 more...  itís a really awesome sculpt.  They really improved the Stormtrooper.

I feel like that EE Stormtrooper pack from back in the day was the best idea ever. I would have gladly bought many packs of updated Stormies. In my delusional mind, Hasbrotoyshop is going to allow us to buy shitloads of Stormtroopers.

I'm very seriously considering trying to replace the 250 stormtroopers I already own with the new sculpt and cost aside, I feel like there just won't be enough available (in the sense of me having access to.)

At least this is readily available to those who want it.

I purchased 2 at full price. However, I'm waiting for a good discount or clearance to purchase several more.

I liked Bumblebee a lot. It's the only one I've seen in the theater. I actively avoid Michael Bay films and always felt the robot designs were just awful. My inner 12 year old boy just kept smiling the whole way through Bumblebee over the simplicity of the story and design of the characters.

They certainly aren't making it easy to support this line.

It's all about having the right pulse on consumer interest. Thinking a little more about it, I wonder who is responsible for more of the blame for over-ordering any particular wave. Wave 1 sold well in the first month or so of release. But, retailers in certain regions (maybe most?) just kept getting that same wave, over and over and over. If they moved onto the following waves, sales would have absolutely been stronger. So, who's fault is the glut of Wave 1? Hasbro overproducing and overshipping that wave? Or the retailers for not understanding the consumer and not paying more attention to how turn over product more profitably. I suppose, it the end, on the retail side, the people ordering have little understanding of concept of waves and have little control over that, but I'm only guessing.

Retail is certainly losing out to e-tail, though. I bought 3 of the 4 Vintage waves by the case from EE.

I agree with your list Brian. I'll just add:

Best Vehicle - Imperial Combat Assault Tank (though I'm super happy with the TIE fighter as well.)
