I've got one carded.  I wish I would have been able to get more, but they hardly showed in my area...or if they did, somebody got to them first.  I managed to pick up a second one at one point, but traded it for a bunch of old spaceships that are becoming my custom ship project.

Funny that something like this is mentioned.  I was talking to one of my classes the other day and we were talking about the things we played with growing up.  They've grown up in the now generation (13-14 yo) and we had to work for some of our stuff.

Also, they have grown up not really having to use their minds for much as when I was growing up in the 80's, I didn't have any game systems (didn't get one until I was a Jr. in college), most of my friends didn't either.  Instead, we played outside and used our imagination on things.  Maybe that is why the late 70's, 80's generation is so creative.

Now, that's not to say kids today arent' creative, I know,  I deal with them everyday, but they just don't seem to have the same things ticking as we did.  Of course, I'm sure that's how every generation feels about the one after it.

That's what I was talking about.  I probably should have looked at that website.  How's that for a History teacher who studies special ops.

Hey guys,
I'm working on putting together a 12" figure and am still needing a few parts.  Due to this being a primarily SW site, I'm not real sure if I should look for parts there.

I recognize names here and know I'm not going to get ripped for posting this here...but put this elsewhere if need be. :)  So first, thanks for being much better than RS about slamming people with honest questions.

I'm still looking for kneepads, camel backs, and a couple of other things.  I've got several of the 3.75" elite force figures (probably close to 20 w/ accessories), and I have the ATV as well, I know it's called a chunnelwick, but I can't seem to find the correct spelling.

Anyway, the ATV is used primarily by the SEAL teams, but is labled as USMC dessert patrol vehicle.  Let me know if anyone can help me out here.

Just an update because a few people mentioned some interest in my figure.

I've ordered through OpsToys and eBay some good stuff.  I've got an M4 w/tac light, boots, gloves, uniform, radio, a couple of mag pouches, 1 grenade pouch, and an assault vest/flak vest combo.

I'm waiting for my pistol and drop down holster to show, along with the helmet and goggles from ebay.  After that, I still need to order a few magazines to stuff in the pouches, a camel back, and a couple of grenades with pouches.  Then, kneepads and I should be finished.  I may add a day pack (ruck), but probably not.  My figure may even get a cool pair of shades, but we'll have to wait and see.

I may replace the tac light w/ foregrip in favor of a 203 launcher.  If I do that though, then I'll have to add a bandolier or more pouches for the 40mm grenades.  We'll see on that one though.

Unfortunately Derek, the figure and equipment you sent me didn't fit right with the other stuff I had. :'(

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Gas Prices
« on: August 12, 2005, 04:26 PM »
After putting $50 worth of gas in my truck yesterday, I actually considered selling my beloved 4X4.   If I could find another pickup, possibly the Titan, with better mileage, I might consider getting rid of it.

Although gas really is creaping up slower than inflation, it has made a huge jump in the past year and a half.  Living on a teacher's salary that increases at a lower rate than inflation, this is shortly going to become a sticky situation.  Lucky for my wife and I (both teachers) I don't drive my truck except to work...but she drives about 30 miles one way in her little Hyundai Santa Fe.  Her mileage is pretty good, but not so much for my Ford.

FWIW, if you guys are having some issues, a tune up and regular oil changes will help to a degree.  The engine will run more efficient...also be sure to keep your tire pressure at the recommended levels.  Preventative maintenance will help with fuel efficiency, as well as long term damage to the pocketbook when something breaks.

Sorry that's long, my mind is kind of jumping all over the place.

Good job.

Just an update.  Going through eBay I picked up a Dragon figure.  Then using Optoys I picked up Dragon gloved hands and a couple of Dragon uniform parts.  Then going back to eBay, I picked up some Dragon body armor, a Dragon M4, and a BBI helmet clip mike and radio.

I'm going to wait for all this to show and then see how it fits together.  I've managed to get a figure through a trade here and it's in the 12" scale so I'm going to use it first and see if the equipment fits.  If it does, then back to ebay the DML figure goes.

Super trade.  I got more than I asked for and received my package two days after we finished negotiating.  Super communication and really friendly.  Thanks!!

Actually, they were navy berets.  I'm  not doing a beret thought, probably a helment and goggles.

I've also been looking at Optoys and from a 12" seller on eBay with some good stuff.

Thanks JJ.  That was what I was thinking but before I go off and start picking up gear, I wanted to make sure I didn't screw myself out of money because the equipment didn't jive.

FWIW, I'm making an USAF Security Forces soldier from Iraq.  It's what I did when I was in the AF.

I'm working on a custom military figure and before I get too far into it I want to check on something.

For you 12" guys, are Dragon and BBI figures the same? I can't seem to figure this out. I've guessed that they are different figures. However, if they are different, will the Dragon accessories work on BBI and vice versa?

I know they are all in the same scale (which someone at RS was kind enough to point out to me)  ::) but are the accessories, such as hands, helmets, assault vests, etc.

Any help would be appreciated.

I love sunflower seeds, so send him on over Mikey! 8)

On a less positive note, my Angels, who were steamrolling along quite beautifully throughout June, have hit the skids here after having gotten swept by the lowly Mariners in a 4 game series. Still have a decent lead in the West, but this is definitely not the type of momentum we wanted to carry into the All-star break. But hey, at least the break will temporarily halt that momentum...

Dodgers... Well, they suck far worse right now. Since 3/4ths of our team is out injured (for most of the season), I don't even know any of our current everyday lineup outside of Jeff Kent. Freakin' pathetic. Even worse when you consider that we removed all the names from the jerseys this year, so most Dodger fans can't even figure out who the **** is on the field at any given time (without matching numbers up in the media guide). ::)

I wouldn't worry about it.  My ******* Rangers have lost 5 of 7 since the All Star break.  My wife and I are headed out tonight and Sunday so hopefullly we can jump back into second and take the next three from Oakland.
