Thanks! Move in date is August 26th since school starts on the 29th.

We were just at Ikea picking out cabinets for the Star Wars office. They had some pretty cool Star Trek-looking office chairs there. I'll have to start that office thread over in collections soon.

It's tough to top IKEA's Billy bookcases for storage and value.  I've got a few and they're pretty good.  But you really do need to fasten them to the wall for stability.

Spring for the glass shelves for your Billy cases too.  I replaced the wood shelves with glass in all my Billy cases.   You can fit more of the glass shelves into the cabinet (total of 6 glass shelves per case; 3 top 3 bottom).  They let more light through the whole cabinet and show off the figures a bit better IMHO.

They finished the stone work on the front of the house. The interior has its coat of primer on the walls. We are ready to paint next week.

Ding Dong!

Come on in!

Thanks everyone.

Kitchen cabinets go in tomorrow. I believe we are going for a black finish on the bottom and white on the top. The sink has two selections to it and is black and will be installed underneath the counter top. The counter tops will be a white quartz. Quartz is very in-thing now-a-days.

Once those are in we can get the floor mesured and get those counter tops and flooring ordered. We are cutting it close.

I believe the dish washer (the only new appliance we are buying) is on order. We had to get a new dishwasher since the heating unit crapped out. We were doing dishes by hand for six months! I think we are buying a very cool black Samsung with an enclosed heating element. That way if something plastic falls, it doesn't melt. All the other appliances are under three years old.

We had our first painting party and had some friends come over to paint. We got the kids bed rooms painted, the kitchen and office. The master bedroom shower is being tiled. Office paint can be seen in the Star Wars office thread over in collections.

Kitchen countertops are in. This is quartz with some pretty cool crystals in it. Kind of like broken glass.

Closet doors being painted.

More tile work in the shower. Still needs grout.

Wow, the kitchen looks great!  Are you redoing the entire house?  Pretty sweet changes you're making.

Thanks!  :)

Yes, the entire house has been remodeled. We figure there was so much to do why not do all of it and get it over with. Carpeting and the built in book shelves will go in next week. Hopefully the driveway will go in too. We want to move in late next week.

Wow, I am so jealous.  I'm sure it is a chore living through a remodel, but pretty amazing opportunity to redesign everything all at once the way you really want it.

We are so tired but excited at the same time. It's hard work buying all the stonework, tile, carpet, paint furnture, lighting, etc and making sure the final details aren't overlooked by our contractor. Fortunately, we've had an amazing contractor do all the work himself. He is totally on time, on budget and extreemly detail focused. You never hear sucess stories on any contractor but ours is one in a million. We couldn't be happier with him and his work.
