Empire At War Site Goes Live

It's launch time for the new Empire At War game's website. Shaping up to be the ultimate ground combat experience in the Star Wars Galaxy, Empire At War expands on the Alliance and Empire's already vast military arsenals.

Check the site out for video downloads that visually explain what unit types do and how they interact. Also a nice gallery of stills and game information is available. This looks to be one you'll want a PC upgrade for!

RAH Stormtrooper Pics

Medicom's Real Action Heroes 12 inch Stormtrooper is starting to arrive on the doorsteps of those who preordered him, and we've got some great pics to show you. Many thanks to forum member He's No Good To Me Dead for the above collage of photos. As you can see, the Stormtrooper's sculpt and articulation are amazing! It follows Jedi Luke and Darth Vader as the third figure in the line, and in the new year we will be treated to a ROTS version of Darth Vader as well.

Another Vader Figure Case?

While on my Black Friday journey I hit a couple K-Mart stores for their Buy-One-Get-One-Free sale (wasn't a bad deal given that I haven't shopped at a K-Mart since 4/2), and I noticed something new on the shelves. There was a new issue of the Darth Vader Carrying Case, but this time the figures packed in it were Darth Vader and Obi-Wan Kenobi. This is something I'd not seen before on shelves, and a local buddy confirmed to me that he saw the same thing at his K-Mart store as well (exclusive?).

For the uber-completist this may be something they have to track down now.

Sideshow to Distribute Medicom 12 Inch Figures

Sideshow Collectibles has just announced that they will be the exclusive North American distributor of Medicom's Real Action Heroes 12 inch figures. They are planning to sell them between $100 and $150. So far, they are only carrying a couple of the Evangelion and Sex Pistols figures, but it will be interesting to see if they carry upcoming Star Wars figures as well, considering Sideshow just entered a contract with Hasbro to produce their 12 inch Star Wars figures.

    2005 Holiday Darth Vader Update

A few readers have alerted us to the fact that the declared ship date listed at StarWarsShop for the 2005 Holiday Vader has slipped to January 2006. Upon further review, it seems as though the 2005 Holiday Vader with the revised January ship date is listed with a different product number than the December ship date version had. Does this mean all orders are delayed or will the existing pre-orders still be shipped around December 9th (the original date)? Stay tuned for more info as it becomes available.

    TRU 2-Packs Round 2

While out on a random toy run this evening I happened upon new sets of the Toys R Us Value Packs. The sets, for those unaware, are 2 ROTS figures bound together for around $8. The sets caught my eye though because I noticed Tarkin, Mena Tills, and Ask Aak were now making the rounds. Also I've heard tell of figures like the AT-TE Gunner resurfacing in these.

While I'm not a variation hunter myself, the "white" Mena Tills was the version I saw as well. Looks like Toys R Us may be worth a stop if you're still hunting for any of those figures and for a decent deal.

Also remember that the Pennsylvania Star Wars Collector's Society will be accepting donations for their annual toy drive in conjunction with the 501st Stormtrooper Legion's Garrison Carrida. They'll have a booth set up at the show, but if you can't make the show you can still mail donations to Bill Cable at the PSWCS.

What Not To Buy: Star Wars Edition

Or what not to buy according to the "WATCH" (World Against Toys Causing Harm) organization. In an article on CNN Money the group lays out its top toys not to buy this Christmas season due to potential harm/injury they can cause.

This year Hasbro's Star Wars line made the list with its Energy Beam Blaster roleplay toy due to its compressed air can ammo. What ever happened to the good old days of "Bag 'O Glass" and other fun toys like that?

    Hasbro Update: Best Buy Vader

Hasbro officially updates again today, this time with the Best Buy exclusive ROTS Unleashed Darth Vader. They describe it as being available in stores now, but it's unlikely you'll be that lucky as they flew off the shelves during the ROTS DVD release at Best Buy. That being said, it never hurts to check your local store, you may be surprised! This subtly repainted version is actually quite dramatic and will make a great display for those of you lucky enough to get one.

New Review: Shaak Ti (Jedi Master)

JediDefender.com dishes out the goods on another ROTS figure. We take a look this week at Shaak Ti (Jedi Master), and Hasbro deserves some applause for all these "apology" Jedi we got in the Revenge line this year, honestly. Unfortunately, Shaak's not the best Collection 2 Jedi you'll find due to some corner cutting, but she's still lightyears ahead of her AOTC counterpart. Check out the full review for the scoop.
