The Vintage Collection / Re: Hasbro Weekly Q and A
« on: December 20, 2006, 11:25 AM »
I feel the same about Unleashed though...  I know there's some guys who LOVE the 7" line and want new figures.  I wish those guys the best that they could have new figures, but the fact is Hasbro said they're abnormally expensive toolings and costly production pieces that have done traditionally poor at retail despite the claims of collectors (a key thing to remember here of course).
that alone makes them less than reliable on everything they feel will sell.

As one of those 7"Unleashed guys, I kind of feel that Hasbro killed that line all on their own with the Force Battlers... I remember a number of times when I'd be in the store looking for Unleashed and see a kid look at the unleashed and say "I want this one mommy" only to be told "but THIS one has battle features" and after a bit of talking to her son, they end up getting the Force Battler (I have an even worse opinion about them than the SW transformers).   While I'd love some "new" unleashed figures, I'm won't be too bumbed with repacks even though I have all the originals.  Why?   1. The new Sideshow 12" line will feed my "larger figure" needs and 2.  I don't collect with intent to resell or stash for retirement.  If they redo some of the Unleashed I paid secondary market prices for, it's not going to bother me that my loose stormtrooper I already have won't sell for as much as it would otherwise.  It'll be 18-20 bucks I can spend elsewhere.

As for playsets,  I haven't been to enthralled with the few playsets Hasbro has given is "the modern era" in the first place- I'd rather they spend time and money on improving the 3 3/4 figures and vehicles instead.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Battle of Hoth Wave
« on: December 15, 2006, 02:29 PM »
I've noticed the comeback as well. I'm debating on whether or not to pick up some move Veers' for customizing.

The Hoth wave has been clogging pegs for months here in the DC area......   I guess now that it's Winter, they figure that reshipping the Hoth wave is appropriate?

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: 30th Anniversary Cards?

Now that I've seen the first two waves packaged with this new packaging, it's not that bad. It's really growing on me.

Now that I'm an opener, I really couldn't care less about the packaging or the pack-ins...  except that they add to the cost of the figures I'll want to get.   I care much more about the figures themselves and am just sick and tired of repacks and "repaints"....  Viva new characters!

1:6 Scale Figures and Collectibles / Re: Sideshow 12" Darth Maul
« on: December 15, 2006, 10:34 AM »
I got mine today, very nice. I like the new shipping material they use, i think it protects better.

I got mine last night and the new shipping method is great.. unless they fold a corner of the box when they insert the styrofoam!  So I start with a damaged corner   >:(

Not too huge a deal since I will free Maul shortly.. but still a slap in the face.

Still sitting on one myself, although it does seem like everyone else in my area is sitting on "Zero."  The local TRU, who it should be noted are having a "Free Figure with a 19.99 or more purchase" sale this week, have about 20 of them hanging on the pegs.  People are taking Jerjerrod and Lushros Dofine before this guy.

The Naboo Soldier:  You Can't Even Give Him Away For Free (and TRU has tried)!  ;D

Ain't it the truth.  I walked into our local TRU one day and was greeted by a wall of yellow :o  It was quite a site to behold, about 40-50 Naboo soldiers mixed in with a bunch of Gungans.

And here I'm am... still unable to find one of the yellow guys   ;D

It is just mine or is Jax supposed to have the left leg longer than the right one.  Should have kept them in the package.

Mine's left leg knee-to-foot just looks off- like the angle is wierd.  I can't get him to stand upright (or up right!).   I wish they'd articulated the ankles- it's impossible to get them to stand in an action pose otherwise.

Oh well.. they're pretty cool for the most part!

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: Anyone else losing interest?
« on: December 13, 2006, 12:18 PM »
So when I'm seeing a commtech (1998/99) Han coming out in 2006, I ain't buying the 3 month lifespan argument.  That's 8, count 'em, 8 friggin' years.  Time to retire it.  'Nuff said.

Whew, we better not get started on the 1977-1983 molds for vehicles that have resurfaced in 2006!

You mean the exact same molds but without even the "ahead of it's time" electronics?

New loose and carded pics at SSG

Luke looks so much better now.  I knew it was just the paint.

I'm still confused how they can have the picture on the card show Luke as irrevocably blond yet the figure cleary has BROWN hair.....   The face also looks more "Han-ish" than "Luke-ish" -  I like the head sculpt from the POTF figure better.

Is it safe to say that Jeff is the only one keeping track anymore?  :-*

This is definitely a thread that would be very VERY bad for me to get into so I'll make tracking my purchases part of my New Years Resolutions  (assuming there's gonna be an 07 challenge) ;D
What I recollect:

November:
Starship Battles- 4 cases & 1 starter   $384
Target Shuttle- $64
Pod Racer Pair- $6.75

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Star Wars Girls
« on: December 12, 2006, 02:51 PM »
In Star wars there is maily only four human women. The best one is Padme. Then her daughter  leia who is not that good looking. There is Shimi Skywalker, and another one from Tatooine Larz's wife. that's why not everyone likes star wars.

Don't forget all of Padme's handmaidens!  Sabe was acutally played by Kierra Knightly!

What a kick in the nuts.  Take one of the most sought after, if not the most sought after, figure and paint it black.

I'm still buying it though, I like it.  I just wish it were white.

Same here.  I'll pick it up (if I can find it), and I do think it looks kind of spiffy, but it would have been nice to see the "regular" Stormtrooper released again.  I finally gave up hope on being able to get a hold of one, and picked up an extra Han Stormie unleashed last year and just leave the helmet on him.  Not quite the same, but it will do.  I'm not paying the prices on ebay for the real Stormtrooper, and it doesn't seem like it will be getting re-released anytime soon.

I want to see NEW Unleashed figures... not repaints!   We get enough of that crap in the 3 3/4 line!    And I'm totally against re-releasing the Stormtrooper as it was unless Hasblo is willing to refund the difference between what I spent and retail   8)

Well... I finally caved on the tins-  at least for now I just picked up the Cantina set.   I have the original Mailaways for them but the "new" details on the instruments just made the decision for me.   Also, the artwork on the Tin is one of my favorites from the Topps Galaxies I set.  Still undecided about the other tins though.    Also finally found a Gagra to pick up- It seems the only way I find this wave is finding a single figure from it amongst the crap from the hoth wave.  Go figure!
