Yeah that's what I meant about d/m missing.  It makes the story much less complex and feels strange.  Makes me appreciate the show more.

It's definitely a different dynamic in the comics. IMO the lack of Dixon brothers is made up for by some characters from the show, like Tyrese, having bigger roles.

I finally opened up the 18" Gipsy Danger last night. What an incredible figure! I can't wait for the upcoming Knifehead.

I think I have a problem:
Passed on these for sooooo long. Which sucks now because I have held wave one in my hands numerous times year or two back when they first came out. Anyway finally caved on the Walgreens Rick a few months back. Then wanted Maggie, but found Glenn first. Then got Maggie. Then bought comic Governor. Then remembered the sports card shop by me had some WD stuff so stopped there and bought Tyreese, wave 3 Michonne and wave 2 Shane all for $13.95 a piece which is an awesome deal for Michonne and Shane. Then stopped into TRU with my 15% coupon and bought the lone Daryl/Merle 2 pack they had. And had to buy a Bicycle Girl off ebay. Good God. My wife is going to kill me.

So what's the problem? ;D You definitely snagged great deals for Michonne and Shane. As long as you don't go full-on completist this line won't be too painful on the wallet. Most of the 2013 figures are relatively cheap, and McFarlane's trend seems to be releasing 3 waves per year which is pretty light. The early figures, exclusives, and variants are where the line gets pricey.

Oh, shameless plug: if you want some cheap Wave 4 figures ($10 a pop) let me know. I have some extras I want gone.  :)

Here you go Brian: http://news.toyark.com/2014/02/17/toy-fair-2014-bridge-direct-hobbit-118442

I think the Smaug box, Beorn, and Bard are the only new products. From what I read on other sites, Bridge Direct is trying to get Smaug and the remainder of the Dwarves out through "specialty" retail, which I guess means online and such. Hopefully some retailers are willing to carry the line.

I didn't think I would be overly interested these Rebels figures due to the stylized look AND 5poa, but watching the character intro videos is slowly winning me over. The figures match the animation well, and the vintage-style articulation suits the simplicity and old-school feel of the designs. I will at least be picking up Chopper, Zeb, the Imp Officer, and some stormies. I won't be surprised if I end up getting all of the figures though.

Also doesn't help that these will be relatively cheap.  :P

Yeah the bulk vehicle sets are tough to swallow if you want more than one.  I'd like that Flint (classic looking) as I don't have one for my meager ARAH shelf.   :-\

The EEL/Night Landing stings worse than the rest as it was slated for a release by itself in the Retaliation line, but I guess cancelled. *fingers crossed for discount store release at Christmas*

I'm not a huge fan of the "versus" format for the vehicle sets. I don't mind the 2-pks for figures since they should be relatively cheap and the figures are all good, but 2-pks on the vehicle sets means higher price points. I also would have loved to army build the Night Landing sets, but it's a pain in the ass to do when it's packed with another figure and vehicle.

After thinking on it more, I am also slightly put off by the apparent straight repacks like Lowlight, Hawk, and Blowtorch. While I appreciate Hasbro trying to get those back out for collectors who may have missed them, I would have preferred even basic repaints. A Lowlight with urban camo or a desert Cobra Trooper would have been sweet. The unreleased green/tan Blowtorch should have been a no-brainer to release instead of red/yellow. Clearly there was nor problem repainting the Night Viper or Snow Job, so why not go all the way by giving all the figures a fresh new paint job?

Hopefully this new assortment will be on display at Joecon. I am looking forward to finding out about pricing, as well as seeing the final packaging and finished looks for figures.

Star Wars Rebels / Re: Star Wars: Rebels - Class II Vehicles
« on: February 15, 2014, 10:59 PM »
are these vehicles supposed to be in the same size range as the earlier "shrunken" offerings, like Slave 1 and the Jedi Fighters? Also how tall did the walker appear to be? From the pics the vehicles seem fairly large, but there isn't really anything to compare with.

In-between.  Definitely not "super-small" like the 2012/2013 stuff.  Closer to the old vehicle scale, but also not surprisingly smaller ship choices as a result.  The Phanton is small... but it's supposed to be.

The walker is pretty tall, not any smaller in height than the AT-ST.  Lots less articulation than the ATST which is why it's cheaper I'd say.  Should make the legs sturdier for posing/standing it up though compared to the last ATST.

Glad to hear that the vehicles grew in size. Based on the pics I expect the walker to be similar to the tripod walker from several years ago, with only a couple points of articulation in the legs. I actually prefer the less articulation, as the AT-ST had too much and suffered because of it.

One other note... these have a $25 price tag on them now.

Didn't take long for the all-new, all-smallish Class II to creep back up again, did it?

Sorry to pester you with questions Jeff, but are these vehicles supposed to be in the same size range as the earlier "shrunken" offerings, like Slave 1 and the Jedi Fighters? Also how tall did the walker appear to be? From the pics the vehicles seem fairly large, but there isn't really anything to compare with.

Overall, cheap seems to be pretty cheap. :) I don't have any interest in the "striker" type vehicles, but the $5 and $10 sets could be tempting.

Ree Yees looks awesome! If the final figure is on-par with Vizam in terms of paint, I'll be pleased.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Everything eBay! Scams, questions, etc...

Thanks Greg.  My take on offers is that its ideally helping out both seller and buyer.  If you intend to sell an item for $100, you're going to have to pay eBay and paypal fees of at least $5-6.  And after being up a whole week, you have no bids, so chances of selling at that price are greatly reduced.  Then someone comes along promising to buy direct for $90.  The buyer clearly saves $10 vs. the initial price,  but the seller is only getting $4 less than he intended with no fees and no Ebay siding with seller complaints. I typically get buyers to see the light, but amazes me how many people don't get it.

Ah, I see where you're coming from. Honestly I skimmed your earlier post (:-[) so I missed that buying direct part. You're 100% right though, making the deal outside of eBay does save fees and should reduce the price. I actually don't think I have gotten any offers for making a deal outside eBay, just offers to lower my price on eBay.

Personally I don't think I would do any off-eBay deals, since I don't know if eBay checks messages and regulates stuff like that (I know they have an annoying disclaimer on all messages). I've been working on getting a small toy business right now, so I wouldn't want to screw things up by getting my eBay account banned or something. I play things overly cautious though, that's just who I am.

This line could be fun. I like the Hoth and Clone Wars stuff at least, like the AT-TE, Battle Droids, and Snowtroopers.

Jeff, did you hear anything about pricing for these? I want to know just how cheap is "cheap"!  :P

I like the Roman Legionnaire style helmet on Kallus. He looks like an officer who doesn't mind getting into combat. I'll probably pick up the figure, and I look forward to learning about the character on the show.

Aren't they deriving most things in Rebels from McQuarrie? I don't mind one bit, as his concept work is possibly my favorite aspect of the Star Wars universe.
