Watto's Junk Yard / Re: breakin crap

Not much for the waste of time, energy and money anymore, but...

When I was in college (many years ago), I used to get so fed up with all the stress of trying to get through 20 units a semester and working, that when I'd taken a particulary nasty calculus test, or O. Chem., or something of that sort (where the wise-ass professor thinks it's fun to pepper the exam with trick questions), I'd walk out of the class, go to my car and methodically destroy my $9 calculator. Just break it in half so that I could hear the soothing sounds of cracking plastic and silicon. I am so glad I'm done with college.  :P

Fan Art / Re: kez-iban

Thanks, guys! This is definitely one of my funkier pieces...I mean, afterall, it is Kez-Iban.  :P

Thomas, I only use the "chalk" pastels (Rembrandt soft, to be exact). The oil pastels were too much like oil paint, for me. And since I did a lot of oil painting already, I'd just as soon stick with the paint. Besides, the Rembrandt pastels are very forgiving.  ;)

Okay, since Kez was my one and only Star Wars piece, and someone said something about seeing something else I've done (I think ;)), here's a few non-Star Wars pieces:

pastel portrait (about 18" x 24")

oil painting on canvas board (about 12" x 16")

oil painting on canvas (about 12" x 16")

It's a shame I haven't really drawn or painted in almost two years.  :( Hopefully, I'll get some time in the near future to pick it up again. Okay, sorry, enough non-Star Wars stuff. Thanks for allowing me to reflect on my past.  :P ;)

I did a pastel portrait of kez-iban (directly from the figure) when I was studying art a couple years ago. Finally got around to taking a digipic of it. First and only Star Wars (or science fiction) related piece I've ever done; everything else is just various realistic drawings and paintings. When I presented it in class, no one had any clue as to who or what it was.  :P

I'll probably see it eventually. However, I have a problem with how this movie is being portrayed as the end-all "fair and balanced" truth. It was written, produced and directed by self-admitted left-leaning persons and is totally supported (it seems) by the Democratic Party. I find it hard to believe that it's not just a little skewed to the left. Furthermore, though I am absolutely no fan of the current administration, I fear that many undecided voters will see this film, take it as the whole, absolute truth, and let that information rule their votes in the upcoming election. And that all sounds just a little "undemocratic."

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Simple pleasures
« on: June 24, 2004, 04:43 PM »
silence.

I was up last night at about 2:30 rocking the baby to sleep, and it suddenly occurred to me that I hardly ever experience complete silence. There's always the sound of traffic, other people, the refrigerator or the dang dog. As I was rocking, all I could hear for a few minutes was the baby's breathing (which is also a simple pleasure) and the slight whoosh of the rocker. Other than those, nothing. If it hadn't have been 2:30 am, I would've been overjoyed. :-\

Woke up late yesterday and had to drive to work, so started my day in the driver's seat with:

Queens of the Stone Age - Rated R

But after a long day and almost equally long drive home, opted for:

Jeff Buckley - Grace

Elliot Smith - Figure 8

BTW, that Liz Phair CD is a great choice. Reminds me that I should break mine out for another impromptu drive to work.

Another super-duper deal with Matt. Helped me complete my animated Clone Wars set by finding and shipping me an elusive Yoda. Thanks a bunch, Matt!   ;D

Is that a Leia figure packed with the Amidala Force File (or vice versa)?

Well, I don't get out to Target much (or anywhere, really ;) ), but on the few times I've looked, I've only seen the Dookus, Asajjs and Anakins. I'll fire off an email to you momentarily. :)

Thanks, Matt. I, too, saw some of them at Target the other day, and figured I'd try to see if anyone had any loose that they wanted to get rid of. That $6.99 price at Target made me cringe a bit. Haven't seen the Clone Trooper, though, and that's the one I really want, so if you can get a hold of that one and a few others I haven't seen (like Durge, Mace, and Obi-Wan), I'd take you up on your offer!

I added a couple things to my list of wants. Looking for any deals for these. Thanks! :)

Never wanted or liked kids when I was younger, but when I got into my 30s, something clicked and I started to actually like other people's kids and want some of my own. Now we have a 6-month old and the world is a different place because of it. I have absolutely no alone time (except for at work), no more sleeping in at all, and my worry level is at a constant high, but when I come home from work and I get that big toothless smile from our little girl, welcoming me home, those things seem like nothing.  :)

btw- Virex, your sig. quote is hilarious. I think I recognize that quote from a certain movie addict in this thread. It made me laugh then, and still makes me laugh now.

What's the toy/pack-in for an adult Happy Meal? When I was a kid, that was pretty much the only reason I'd want one. What's the big draw for an adult Happy Meal? Whoops, forgot I'm posting on a toy-collecting site.  :P

Getting back to the topic, I'm an editor for a chemical research company. Basically, I edit (and conduct research for) large reports that detail the manufacturing processes, production, supply/demand, trade, etc. for major and minor commodity chemicals. Or a better translation...just try to stay awake during the day.  ;)

Geez, there are a lot of old threads!

I hoarded my Vicodin to the point where I have 5 or 6 left.  Might come in handy someday to sell on eBay in case I have some severe back pain or something
Ha! I do the same thing. I've still got about 20 or so left and also have some liquid codeine. Whenever I have a cold and am feeling awful, a vicodin takes away the achiness and really helps me sleep. The liquid codeine has come in handy also for coughs and sore throats. There should be a way to get mini-prescriptions for this stuff for those one or two times a year when colds/flu really knock the wind out of me.
