My God is that stuff ever stale.

Blech.

If Hasbro claims this stuff isn't selling, they can hold a mirror up to themselves and blame their own case packs and distribution.  It is the root of all evil.

Yeah I can too actually.  Maybe not THAT much, but I think $120 isn't out of the realm of possibility.

When I saw that MTT hit my TRU shelves last October for $208.99, I vowed to never be surprised by TRU's pricing ever again.  The manager explained to me that they are a "test store," at least the branch closest to my house in Orange County NY, corporate checks sales on these items in the test store and if they are selling well at the, um, enhanced price point, then the price becomes standard in most stores.

Good news is they typically collect dust and the price comes down.

So TRU wanted $209 for their MTT when it debuted, I waited, and got it for like $70 or whatever on Amazon.

The Gunship is different because it's an exclusive though I think.  But I don't even really want another Gunship unless it gets resculpted.

Don't be surprised if these hit the shelves at $149.99 or more, I can easily see that happening.

I saw the Avengers 3-pack at Target over lunch (Red Hulk/Modern Iron Man/Thor Repaint).  Tempted to get this one, but it was priced at $27.99.  Too rich for my blood.

But you collect Avengers!!!

I do not like this trend to cheaper, less articulated, junky Marvel figures.

I hope their target audience buys enough of these things to make up for the fact that I am buying zero.

Thank God the Marvel Universe line is still going.

I bought the 3 IM3 Legends figures at Target today.  Checked TRU, 2 Walmarts and 2 Targets and only 1 store had IM3 out after the street date.

The Legends figures are good.  The Iron Monger parts are nice.  All of the 3.75" figures SUCK epic proportions.  Really horrible.  I won't be buying any of those.  One line is the Assemblers, the articulation sucks.  And you're able to swap body parts across figures which makes no sense and is stupid.  And the other 3.75" figures are the $5.88 price point which are 1980's Kenner articulation with really nothing cool anyhow.  It's just junk.  Real hardcore junk.

At least the Legends are pretty good.

I saw a similar Iron Patriot at Target, which spokes phrases...including "I'm here to back you up, Iron Man"

Wait, I thought he was the villain!

He is.  Was.  In Dark Avengers Earth-616.  But in movieverse and Ultimate Universe right now he is good.  Iron Patriot is Norman, Rhodes, Stark respectively.

As far as I'm concerned Earth-616 Iron Patriot is the one to measure all others against.  He was the best.  Psychopath that he was.

I hate exclusives, and especially KMart exclusives.  KMart is a **** store, and I don't even have one within 35 miles of my house.

If Hasbro put as much effort into their Star Wars figures as they do cooking up these exclusive schemes, maybe they would have a better showing at Toy Fair.

The last couple years I have been noticing a figure swapper striking at my local TRU.  Kind of annoying when I see a wave put out, see the package of a figure I want, only to find a POTF2 figure swapped into the bubble.

The last couple months it really heated up.  Every week, every other week, I'd find 2 more.  I started turning the figures into Customer Service everytime, explaining what to look for, gotta say, they could not give a ****.  I said to them, one of these times I'm gonna show you these figures, and you'll say, "Yeah, that guy just returned those 30 minutes ago, I know who that was!"  But no they didn't really care much about possibly stopping them.

So today I am in there and find 2 more swapped out.  This time, I show the manager.  It took him a minute to understand what was happening, only after I put 2 of the same figure side by side, showed him the swapped one, and the real one.  The take home message?  "Nah we can't really do anything about that."  Actually he seemed kind of impressed how the swap was so flawless and seamless.

So there it is.  Showed everyone from customer service to the store manager.  Nobody cares.

If I were the manager, I would say, okay, CSM reps, for the next month anyone who receives a star wars figure return, call me over.  They would have this guy in 1-2 weeks.

But I am telling you they just don't care to stop it, and quite frankly, actually seemed kind of impressed.

Whatever.

The Black Series 6" Figures / Re: 6 Inch Figures?
« on: January 29, 2013, 07:52 AM »
I won't buy into a new scale like that of basically the same figures we have, just larger.  I want what's left to be made in 3.75" and to see an improvement on what's out there already.

And I can't say I didn't see this coming if it pans out.  :-X

In Hasbro's 6" line for Marvel, they are on wave 3 or 4 now and already out of maybe 20-25 figures have made a good handful that have not been made in the 3 3/4" scale which has been around 4 years longer than the 6" scale.

Just off the top of my head they made 6" Fantomex, Hyperion, Red She Hulk, Protector, Dani Moonstar, Arnim Zola, Terrax.  I just wish they'd finish what they started in the 3 3/4" scale before they make those characters in a completely new line in a different scale.

What they did with Fantomex is equivalent to putting the Tonnika Sisters in Wave 1 of a new 6" scale of Star Wars figures.

Tell me we couldn't get at least 100 dorks together and go picket outside a Chinese factory.
