The Black Series 6" Figures / Re: 6" Black Series Solo Wave 1
« on: February 15, 2018, 05:35 PM »
These all look pretty amazing I think. They really continue to improve on the faces of these figures, kinda makes me wish they would go back and re-do some of the human characters with that face printing technology they have now. All of these figures look great though. I wonder if we will get a new (or new bandoliered) Chewie here too. I'm all in for these.

Solo / Re: Solo 3.75" Force Link 2.0 with Han Solo

I actually haven't gotten one of these yet, and I really like that Han figure, so it is a good chance to pick one up.

Solo / Re: Solo 3.75" Kessel Run Millennium Falcon
« on: February 15, 2018, 05:31 PM »
Agreed. Many are only going to be happy if it is BMF sized, and I'm afraid that just isn't going to happen anymore. I feel lucky to have been collecting in that time of large, detailed vehicles as the BMF is one of the favorite things I own, if not top of the list. Maybe the return of the Vintage Collection will bring more of that back.

That said, I kind of like this one too. I can appreciate a fun toy, and a new Falcon is always welcome. I'm planning on picking this up, and getting excited for this movie.

Solo / Re: Solo 3.75" Basic Figures

I really like the looks of these too, I'm definitely in for the Solo figures. I do hope we get a little more off the bat than three figures, but I think we will. I know there was a 2 pack shown in Germany including Lando, so that's great too. I wonder if we will get a big launch for these? I know it has been rumored, but I know for Rogue One stores kind of put them out whenever around here, unlike the Saga movies.

Other Toy Lines / Re: Transformers
« on: February 8, 2018, 08:09 PM »
I didnít end up getting any dinobots yet, but I still look at the vintage ones. Iíd love to get those MP versions, but that line is out of my price range. I have picked up Skug (Slag) from the recent Power if the Prines line, and really like it, so I might try to get the rest of the original Dino crew there.

Speaking of that line, I saw the new Optimus Prime today at Target. I didnít necessarily want to get back into collecting other lines, but I was very tempted by that Prime. It looked to be very well done, it looked cool, and it was pretty good size. Has anyone picked it up yet?

Star Wars Anthology / Re: Solo (SPOILERS)
« on: February 5, 2018, 11:56 AM »
So happy to finally get a look at this movie. Like others, my biggest hurdle is getting used to seeing someone other than Harrison Ford play the role, but I'm open minded. That being said, I'm really excited for this. Since I was a kid, my favorite parts of Star Wars have been Han, Chewie, and the Falcon (with Lando close behind), so a chance to see them on an adventure is really exciting to me (always thought it would have made a nice animated series as well).

I'm not saying necessarily this will warrant one, but I wonder if any of these "story" movies will get sequels? I know it depends on box office and all that, but I just wonder internally if they consider all if these one and dones? Looks good so far.

Are these still hitting anywhere at this point? They never really showed up at our local store, although a friend was able to snag 3 of the 4 for me at a store across town. Since then (October I think), I haven't seen any. Still want to get at least one Praetorian Guard (and hopefully some extras down the road), but wasn't sure if I wanted to bite the eBay bullet quite yet. It would seem to be good fodder for a Vintage Collection re-release, but who knows how that is going to go.

The Last Jedi / Re: TLJ 3.75" Class A Creature/Droid Assortment
« on: January 16, 2018, 01:11 PM »
I had to order another at that price as well, probably should have gotten two to have the set of three. Hard to pass up that good of a deal. Tacked on a couple basic figures like Hux for $4 (hadn't picked him up yet), and another Rose for $2 and change because why not. Actually a very well done figure, I think the sculpt might be better than the BS one actually.

The Last Jedi / Re: TLJ 3.75" Basic Figure Line
« on: January 16, 2018, 01:07 PM »
Glad to see these and the Finn/Phasma pack saved by EE, but does this mark the end of the Last Jedi line at retail basically? I guess we saw a few other pictures of Maz, Emperor, and Hoth Leia, but maybe those are coming later. I really hope we see a healthy line in the 18 month gap between Solo and Episode 9. It just seems like there are so many holes to fill in from the sequel trilogy alone. I guess this has been the new norm in this era, it just seems strange that it is basically two waves of figures, a handful of vehicles, and we're out.

Other Toy Lines / Re: Transformers

Has anyone seen/bought any of the Power of the Primes stuff? Iíve started to see some pics and videos showing up online and it doesnít look too bad from what I can tell. I was really hoping to avoid anything outside of Star Wars and Marvel, but Iíve always sort of wanted to get a collection of the dinobots (particularly the original ones from the show).

Star Wars Anthology / Re: Solo (SPOILER FREE)
« on: January 8, 2018, 05:02 PM »
I just read today that the latest rumor is that the trailer will debut this Friday on Good Morning America. Personally I'm looking forward to seeing a look at this. Still not sure how it will be seeing someone other than Harrison Ford in the role, but I've always wanted to see "further adventures" of Han and Chewie.

Star Wars Universe / Re: Is Star Wars special anymore?
« on: January 2, 2018, 05:13 PM »
Like others, still special for me and the family too. I do wonder about the general public after 5 or more years of this, we'll see. A lot depends on what the schedule looks like post Episode 9. I'm generally of the mindset of more Star Wars each year is good with me. I've made my peace that no matter how much I like the new movies (and I've loved them all so far), it will never change my feelings for "my" trilogy - the OT. I'm just enjoying the ride watching my daughter soak in this new trilogy the way I did as a kid. Fun stuff. The toys are another story, I do wish we could get a little more in depth there.

This brings to mind something else I wanted to ask here that we had been talking about in our house. Is Star Wars a bigger deal than Marvel to modern, general audiences? I know Star Wars is still the box office champ, but it sure seems like in my daily life there is more familiarity and "buzz" around Marvel stuff from the more casual fans. I know we have seen the Infinity War trailer each time we have seen Last Jedi, and everyone seems to be talking about it each time. I mean, I love both, but I was just curious if Star Wars was still the biggest deal to the general audience these days.

The Sequel Trilogy / Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi (SPOILERS)
« on: December 31, 2017, 04:07 PM »
We've seen it three times so far and heading again this week, still really liking it. I keep thinking now during the Rey/Kylo vs. Praetorians fight, I sort of wish that when the one guard snaps his staff in two and starts swinging them moving towards Rey, that she would pull out her blaster and shoot him, Indiana Jones style. Great fight though. I still get chills when the Falcon shows up and draws off the TIEs, and the soundtrack brings back the A New Hope cues from the Escape from the Death Star/dog fight with TIEs track, so great.

Other Toy Lines / Re: 2018: What Are You Collecting?
« on: December 31, 2017, 03:55 PM »
Wow, can't believe it has been 14 years since we first started this thread, and looking at how many of us are still here and how things have changed. With 2018 looming, just thought I would bump this up to see if anyone is changing their collecting habits in the upcoming year. I know personally I bought less and sold off a lot of stuff in 2017, and will probably continue that trend this year. I've just started to run out of room and it seems silly to continue filling rubbermaids to sit in the garage. I basically stick to the same two areas: Star Wars and Marvel Legends. I'm into both the scales of Star Wars, but I really have started to think how much cheaper it would be to stick strictly to 3 3/4" Star Wars these days. Only 30 or figures for each movie line it seems.

Star Wars
Always the 3 3/4" line, basic and vintage. Black Series I've been buying too, and will likely continue but be even more selective. Vehicles are selective, although there aren't all that many these days.

Marvel Legends
I've pretty much been all in on these for the past few years, and the quality has been pretty amazing. One of the best all around lines out there at the retail level I think, but it is a big money suck. I could save a lot if I dropped it, but I'll likely continue. I'm hoping to be highly selective and stop getting entire waves.

The Sequel Trilogy / Re: Star Wars: The Last Jedi (SPOILERS)
« on: December 18, 2017, 01:52 PM »
Saw it twice this weekend, and loved it. As some others have said, I liked it even more the second time. I think maybe because there was just so much to take in. So glad I avoided spoilers, the payoff was much better I think. It just seemed so different than the other Star Wars movies, but not in a bad way. I can see the point about Canto Bight basically being pointless, but I also didn't mind it (and I want toys of the falthier beast). I thought Mark Hamill was amazing in this movie. Bummed to see Luke "become one with the force", but thought it was done very well. I was sort of hoping to see him leave the island (for real), and get in on the action, but this was very cool as well. I can see why reaction is a little mixed on the Leia "force fly" moment, but it worked for me, and seeing my daughters reaction to it makes it even better. Really interested to see where they go in 9 now. Also, lots more action figures I hope we get.
