Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Nintendo Switch
« on: February 21, 2018, 10:13 AM »
We've always been more of a Nintendo house, and got a Switch opening day last year. I'm definitely not a "gamer" per se, but I have to say we love our Switch. I know it is an obvious one, but I highly recommend picking up Zelda: Breath of the Wild. I don't think I've ever loved (or played) a game so much.

It is really upsetting that something like this, nearly universally praised and an exciting time for our hobby in general, is getting turned into a negative by certain people/sites. Can't we just enjoy this? If you want it and can afford it? Great. If it's not your bag or too pricey? That's fine too. Personally, mine depends if I can 1) sell enough by April to offset the cost 2) sell the Mrs. On it, and 3) figure out where it will live. I definitely want it, but I won't go into debt over it. I have a small office where my collection lives, and managing space means rotating things out to make room for something like this.

I never had (or knew someone that had) the USS FLAGG as a kid, and this seems like that sort of holy grail.

The Vintage Collection / Re: Big Items of the Future!
« on: February 21, 2018, 10:04 AM »
This is what excites me so much about the Haslab concept. The sail barge is amazing, and I really hope I'm able to figure a way to work it out (like others, I won't go into debt over it), but the potential for future ideas is so fun to think about.

Obviously, the Death Star is an obvious choice. I always wanted one as a kid and I'd be interested to see what they would do today. I also think it would maybe be a little tougher to please everyone with that though, as everyone wants something different. Other than that I'd really be down for modern versions of other vintage playsets, particularly Dagobah and the Ewok village. The Echo base set is a neat idea too.

As far as vehicles, I'm not sure. I usually lean more towards OT stuff, but for me they have covered some of the big ones pretty well. The BMF, AT-AT, Snowspeeder, large wing TIE, Slave 1, Landspeeder, AT-ST, and X-Wing have been done pretty well. I'd like to get a Sandcrawler, and the Y-Wing can be improved. I guess you could upscale things like the Imperial Shuttle. As for newer stuff, I'd be in for the Ghost, Poe's X-Wing, and the Gorilla Walker.

Of course, the more of this type of stuff we get, the more challenging it is going to get these things displayed. Again, we may be entering the age of even more specialized collecting. Not many (any?) of us have unlimited space for all this.

Other Toy Lines / Re: 2018: What Are You Collecting?
« on: February 19, 2018, 12:45 PM »
Did Toy Fair change anyone's collecting aspirations for the year? I know the Sail Barge, along with the opportunities it may open up, has definitely got me thinking about things. I've slowly been cutting back (and in some cases selling off), the non SW stuff, really only focusing on Marvel Legends outside of that. This is making me take an even harder look at that. If I want to continue and go all-in with this type of Vintage Collection stuff, it may mean focusing almost exclusively on that. That means getting much more selective with "other" lines, or just deciding that it is a good place to be done.

The Bullpen / Re: Marvel Legends
« on: February 18, 2018, 10:36 AM »
More great reveals for this line this weekend, as usual for this line. Particularly happy to see Cloak and Dagger, a long time want for me, and the new Thing - one of my favorite characters.  A few of the figures did seem kind of like "didn't we just get this?", and I'm not sure how much I care about all the symbiotes outside of Venom and Carnage. Of course, I could just be talking myself out of stuff so I can afford that Sail Barge  ;) The Legends line is tough to keep up with anymore, churning out so much goodness.

The Black Series 6" Figures / Re: 6" Black Series Rumors
« on: February 18, 2018, 10:30 AM »
Lots of good stuff, it is amazing how much that scanning technology improves the look of the human characters. I'm really happy to see the Leia, and definitely the Gamorrean. That character, along with Endor Han and Jedi Luke, were the first figures I bought with my own money in the vintage days, so they always have a special place.

Been thinking about this a lot this morning (and trying to figure out how to afford it), and just how cool this concept could be. Not just for the Barge, which is great, but potential future releases that some have mentioned. You could see a Death Star, Ewok Village, Dagobah, Poe's X-Wing, or even smaller items. It also makes me realize that this program might "force" people to become more and more specialized in their collections. I already don't know where I would put the barge for sure, let alone if we start getting things like this every 18 months or so. It may force things to "OT only", OT Vintage Collection only, etc. the majority of us only have so much room. All that being said, I'm so happy that this excitement is back in the Star Wars line. It seemed like that had been waning a little bit.

Solo / Re: Toy Fair 2018
« on: February 17, 2018, 11:08 PM »
Gone today and just looking through things tonight and WOW, this has to be one of Hasbro's best showings in years. So much goodness, and just the shot in the arm the line needed.

Beautiful piece, Hasbro has really brought their a game again. I'd like to get one but will have to see. I'm on the fence about trying to save up for that sail barge instead.

Really like the new Han, and the troopers look great too. Surprised we were shown as much as we were this weekend, seems like Hasbro made a good showing.

It's too bad this first wave is so repack (and common repack) heavy, hope it isn't a problem. I could pick up more Hoth rebels and Stormiest, and maybe a Rey/Kylo to keep carded. Otherwise, in for Snoke.

The Vintage Collection / Re: 2018 TVC Walmart Exclusive Figures

WalMart exclusives? Ugh indeed. Still haven't seen the last Black Series wave at our local store. At least it is only a couple to track down though.

I definitely did not expect this news, very cool. I REALLY want to get into this too. I have nowhere to put it, but I don't really care. An all new Original Trilogy era ship done in the BMF style? Right up my alley. I don't know if I can afford it, and I definitely would have to sell something else of significance to offset the cost if I did. So cool though.

The Black Series 6" Figures / Re: 6" Black Series Solo Wave 1
« on: February 15, 2018, 05:35 PM »
These all look pretty amazing I think. They really continue to improve on the faces of these figures, kinda makes me wish they would go back and re-do some of the human characters with that face printing technology they have now. All of these figures look great though. I wonder if we will get a new (or new bandoliered) Chewie here too. I'm all in for these.
