Other Toy Lines / Re: Transformers

Not much action on the QnA so I'll drop one.

The new generations line seems to be a continuation of Classics and Universe, which represented not only G1 remakes, but incorperated other generations as well such as Beast Wars and Armada. Would you ever consider releasing new characters from Animated under the Generations banner?

I think I also read in one of the QnAs that they were planning on doing a four pack at some point.

The Original Trilogy / Re: Are Stormtroopers Clones?
« on: June 23, 2010, 10:02 PM »
I always figured Leia's "little short for a stormtrooper" line was just her being defiant and snarky rather than it implying that she found it genuinely strange that the stormtrooper that just walked in her cell was too short to actually be one. It's just her personality. She also said she recognized Tarkins foul stench when she was brought on board, but that doesn't nessesarily mean that Tarkin actually had a problem with not bathing.

Went to see Toy Story 3 today. Excellent film and a very satisfying conclusion to the series, I'm planning on going at least once more.

The Bullpen / Re: Iron Man 2 Toys

The movie stuff is overflowing pretty much everywhere up here. They sold well initially, but they've restocked a few times since then and they're just rotting on the pegs now. The only ones that are in short/no supply are the Mark I, War Machine and Iron Monger. The Iron Men are just everywhere though. The 6 inchers sold pretty well though. On another note, the comic series seems to be doing quite well in my area, I don't see too many of those, and really, I do think it's the better sub line. At least those Iron Men variants are fairly different from one another, plus there's villains. Sadly, I'll probably never see another wave of these things, which is a shame since I was really looking forward to the supporting characters. Ah well, I guess that's what e-tailers are for.

I logged in today to order my Peter Venkman and briefly considered getting Keldor as I've been on the fence about him for a while, but ultimately I decided against it. It's getting harder and harder for me to drop 25-30$ a pop on what is essentially Skeletor with a new head and cape.

So, how many people actually enjoyed this line? I know it got a lot of flack, but for myself, I thought it was really well done. Good crisp sculpts, solid paint, and articulation and lots of accessories. I think I actually picked up the majority of them (nearly all of them at sales prices too, which probably helps my overall view of the line) I also thought they had a nice expanded collection beyond the on screen characters, like Shipwreck, Kamakura and Charbroil. I can't really comment on the quality of the film itself (having still not gotten around to seeing it), but as far as the toys are concerned I thought they did a pretty good job.

I was very meh when I heard about Carnivus likely being in the final four for this year, and pretty much expected him to be the reveal today. That said after actually seeing him I'm completely turned around, I love how it turned out and am looking forward to adding him. it'll be nice to have another non human in the ranks of the good side. So far the good guys are rather plain compared to Skeletors group of wierdos.

I don't think there's been a wave yet that hasn't had an Iron Man, Wolverine or Spider-Man involved somehow. I think the biggest kicker of this particular Iron Man is how terrible it looks IMO. I hate that tall skinny body on a character that's supposed to be in armor. Would have looked much better if they'd used the Iron Man from the movie line as a base.Knowing Hasbro he'll probably be the only 2 per case figure in this wave. The others look good though, digging Thanos, and I have no idea who Constrictor is, but he looks nice. Yellowjacket is ok, tired of that skinny body though, I wish they'd get a better, more natural looking body to reuse constantly, something in the middle. That and I wish they'd stop painting the belts on and mold them instead. It just looks cheap.

I got a Doc Ock from this line the other day, he's not bad, though I'm not sure which specific comic appearance he's based on if any though. He's got some weird articulation though. Below the waist is pretty much Star Wars level, but the arms are ball socket shoulders and swivel biceps of all things. No albows or wrists. Just an odd, fairly useless articulation point. I've also gotten Venom, Rhino and Gobby from this line. They lack articulation, but I think the sculpting is pretty solid, fortunately a lack of articulation doesn't bother me too much since I usually just stick these things in a static pose on the shelf anyway.

Whoever called that MU 6 pack being based on Giant Sized X-Men #1 was correct. Seems a sample showed up on ebay,

Not bad, kind of tempted to wait on Colossus now and get him from this set instead. BTW, is anyone else but me getting really tired of this Cyclops mold? We've gotten him in Secret Wars, getting another one in that Dark Phoenix Comic pack and now again? I didn't realize Cyclops' popularity was so high.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Who actually exercises, and how?
« on: June 2, 2010, 01:04 AM »
I exercise a lot. Mostly walking due to the fact that I don't have a car. If I need groceries or whatever I walk to get em. Same goes for my toy runs, which works well, since the nearest mall is a good 30-45 minute walk away.

So far all these Prequel waves are kind of a snooze fest to me. Zam sounds great, but the rest are pretty dull IMO. I dunno, it just sounds like it lacks pizazz, or anything even remotely new I guess. I don't mind resulpts at all, but at least 1 all new character wouldn't be bad I wouldn't think.
