Yeah, the visor isn't even green, my boy tells me he's gonna paint it green though.Yeah, sculpt-wise they couldn't come to even the storm commandos like the ones from the WOTC miniatures have. It certainly is a different sculpt than a basic biker scout-but I'm sure they know this anyway, like you said it's cheaper to paint it black and call it something then mass produce it ::).

Totally agree Tom, site integrity IS something to lose and not worth the risk.

I don't know I guess I just don't understand why we would take the chance and risk a high possibility problem element and include it here....

Hmmm, it sounded to me like he wanted to set up his own store. I could be wrong though.

I meant that as in if a "feud" were to spill over into the Hasbro section of the site then the mods could clean it up quickly.

And by my second comment, we really don't have anything to lose, IMO. It's not like anyone's going to look down on this site for trying something different (different for SW sites at least).

-Oh, OK.

-You're right, I guess instead we would be retrying failed experiments from other sites because folks believe our site is good enough to handle it and that it could work here. In case you don't understand this I view tons of locked political threads at other sites as failed attempts to have them.

Jesse-

Hey what is up with Hasbro using this ****** plastic lately in their basic figure line??
My opener Boba and Chewie McQuarrie figures are so flimsy and easily fall apart.. what happened?
I'll bet it has to do with $ and I'd wager their profits are higher per fig with the cheaper plastic too.

Besides, if things DO get out of hand we have the mods who can quickly clean up any mess that's created.

I say go for it. We don't really have anything to lose.

Hmmm... but if it's unmoderated then just how will they do that?
We don't have anything to lose...? Interesting.

Case anyone's reading ...this year at the Con a 'promo' Battle droid was passed out at the SW miniature table in the Hasbro booth. I don't believe it's a 'true' promo though, as it has no identification as such on the underside of the base as they usually do.

Warning:

 This product is pretty crappy-

Hasbro used some pretty cheap plastic in the molds to make the bike and figure. The biker and the bike are overly flimsy. Talk about a loose fig, sheesh. I know it's a cheaper plastic because I own white scout and he's nowhere near this loose and flimsy. I also have this original paint bike as well and, well, lets just say that if I flexed the original molds bike the same way it would snap!

Consider leaving the rubberbands on the hands for the rider to stay on the bike- I HAD TO!

I couldn't believe how easy it was to get the Shadow Biker scout as opposed to the McQuarrie 2pack. I know Hasbrotoyshop had a lot of other items for sale, but they really made it difficult for people to physically get in line to buy the figures.

I'll tell you what really happened....

At first I thought Hasbro 'blew it' too. Until I asked them and realized it was the SDCC staff's fault. Once I found out it was their fault I went after them and I'll tell you what they said.

First, I asked Hasbro about the stupid 'ticket' situation. I asked them why only a little amount of tickets at a time. Why so few times a day to receive a ticket(at least wed. thru friday tickets only released 2 times day). Keep in mind a ticket was only to get in line at the hasbro booth. So anyway they tell me that the SDCC staff didn't like their overflowing line(preview night) , the middle isles were getting clogged-causing fire hazard, so they forced/enacted a ticket plan on Hasbro to 'slow' things down.  All this did was guarantee a 3-4 layer thick wall of humans around the Hasbro booth waiting for a ticket to be released. Humorously, the SDCC 'event staff' tried in vain to tell folks to leave the walkways-that ' they will not get a ticket if they are blocking the isles' and that ' tickets will be handed out in the Con randomly'- yeah right-and of course nobody budged.

Anyways since the SDCC staff's solution was futile I decided to call them out on it. I asked them why they sucked so much, why their idea was causing more of a problem than Hasbro's initial method AND I told them what they could do to improve it. I told them they could/should have set-up a separate booth or meeting room upstairs where there's plenty of room to hand out tickets to purchase items at the Hasbro booth...since the ticket numbers already corresponded to times for folks to use them at the booth that part was already solved. As folks walked up to the booth looking to get in line you could easily refer/detour them to the remote ticket location to pick up a ticket for the line.

The SDCC staff replied with ignorant comment like 'I'll bring it up with my supervisor'. Then, other Staff members were saying for folks to 'spread out and keep moving around the Convention, that tickets would be handed out randomly'. Which I knew was BS and thank goodness I didn't believe it because I would have gone home after 3 days exclusiveless. I told those jokers that as soon as one guy handed out a ticket he would be swarmed by a mob and there would be no 'randomness' to it. As it were, Hasbro employees seemed to be held captive in their booth. They had to pass tickets out to hands in the crowd surrounding the booth since they couldn't get past the wall- even the back door was covered.

I DO BLAME THE SDCC STAFF for not coming up with a better thought out solution.

Is Hasbro totally without blame? No. I think next year they should stategically have less exclusive types or rent out space non-adjacent to their booth somewhere else in the CC for a ticketing distro system. In prior years their booth was more near a wall where folks could line up against the wall instead of take up space unorganized in the main isle walkway. This year only their Hasbro store was this way and they seemed to have succeeded where the other store was in middle and failed.

I feel that, while a good natured attempt to expanding the JD 'experience', I think it will ultimately be a failure. I believe the 'experiment' will cause (or broaden ;)) further animosity between members, that there is no way of preventing spill-over. Regardless of 'spilleage control', mind control cannot be done. Once some folks have made up there minds about others based on their political/religious views it would be hard to change them. While I personally would not hold someones' beliefs against them based on politics, I cannot make guarantees others would not.

Since I care to a lesser extent of others personal negative views towards what I would say in a proposed thread, my concern would be more for between others members and the sites' health thereafter.

While I've seen it mentioned here that 'we're mostly adults in here' that we 'should be able to handle ourselves maturely' I feel that even adults can become opinionated and hateful and being 'mature' or 'adult' really has little to do with this. A quick view of CSPAN, FOXNEWS, CNN ect and several others channels on TV and within a couple hours 'adults' of all types can be viseably watched becoming unglued.

So my feeling is...

If we're willing to risk the integrity of our website lets go ahead and do this then :P.
