I've at last seen the VTSC, out of town at a Target. Oddly there were four Demise of Grievous figures, none of which I picked up, but two VTSC figures.

One was Han Solo! I'm a "happy camper" as they say, because needless to say that Target has only one figure still hanging there. Poor Greedo, I just couldn't afford him.

But I have yet to see one Biker Scout... still on the lookout for them. Sounds like a job for internet buying and $15 or something, though...

VTSC HAN SOLO!!

Bwahahahahaha!

"I have you now!"

Sorry, just kinda happy about it ;) He's one great figure. The only things I've found to dislike are that I'm afraid in messing with his waist joint that I'll eventually screw it up and it'll get all floppy and loose, and that his belt hangs kinda weird. I don't think they glued it in the right place...

But he's soooooooooooo awesome! Mwahahah!

Sorry >.<

POTF2 Trenchcoat Han is so very, very retired.

I was pretty young at the time, but I really liked the Star Wars movies (all three of them). I'd probably heard about my older brother's figures he once had, but sadly all those vintage figures were sold in a box long ago, for most likely far too little money.

I had no idea new Star Wars figures existed until I got two for christmas :) Ahh, Buff Luke and R2-D2. I really loved those figures and was totally amazed with them, and saved up all my allowance to buy more afterwards. My first two purchases were Han Solo and Darth Vader, and I was in love with them <3 And so I kept buying and asking for them and wound up with quite a few...

And then I kinda lost interest around 2000, missing the commtech figures and only getting a handful of episode I figures. When episode II came out I looked for some episode II figures, but only wound up with 4- none of them even an Anakin because the only Anakins I saw sucked, of course ;) I guess Episode III kind of got me re-interested, urging me to improve my mostly-POTF2 collection.

My favorite food ;)

But my favorite kinds are, well, weird. I like Pizza Hut and Fazoli's; various kinds of frozen can be good but obviously differ in quality. My favorites are Red Baron, Tony's, and Digornio- though those little Totino's pizzas have a certain appeal somehow as well.

As for toppings, pepperoni, pepperoni and italian sausage, cheese, or four-cheese are all good. One day I want to try anchovies if I can make sure they're headless/finless first.

I tend to like spicy/salty sauce rather than sweet sauce. Domino's is okay, but kinda blah for this reason. I'm also not very wild about crust, although I'm pretty fond of Pizza Hut stuffed crust.

Bespin Luke looks pretty good, but I never got one and I'm pretty fond of my Saga Bespin Luke. I want to make a custom combining the two though... or maybe a commtech Luke head on Saga Bespin body. Maybe do a little repainting to make his outfit look less wind-weathered, as well, and you've got a heck of a general-purpose Bespin Luke.

Really, Bespin Luke is very much akin Dark Jedi Luke, with similar headsculpts and the same style of hand. Some of the better stuff in the POTF2 line, methinks.

Also, you might wish to edit your post and move the "
Quote
" tag from the end to right before you "Its the only!" line- it looks like your entire post is a quote :)

Ackbar is cool, but I think they should redo him eventually. The sculpting was good but I'd like to see one with hinged knees or something, and maybe more useable hands. I find his arm cannon a little amusing ;)

Wow, looks like the second group has some pretty good figures in it- glad to see them rereleasing 3PO, Padme, Kit Fisto, and Dooku. If only they'd had the sense to put Evolutions ROTS Anakin in the Coruscant wave instead of Anakin #2 (which I find a very appropriate name if you know the lingo which I'm conferring to "#2").

I'm in for these (if I find them of couse), unless I get them elsewhere first:

Chewbacca
Count Dooku
R4-G9 (maybe)
Wookie Warrior (maybe)

I'd be looking for Padme but I already bought one- it's a pretty decent figure but suffers from very Carkoon Wave-ish painting on the head, and her legs are sort of weird- it's like her legs aren't the same length or something almost.

C-3PO I'd look for even though I have because dupilicates, but I'd rather try to get a/some Endor C-3POs...

EDIT: by the way, when this thread is the most recently replied, why the heck does it say "Episode 3 Heroes &am" on the forum listing?? Anyone else notice this?

I'd like to find one of these sets- Chewie looks way cool, and R2 looks nice- I think he's VOTC with only the door, and it might be glued on like with TSC R2. But in any case I never frown at another almost-VOTC R2 to display!

According to rebelscum this offer has been renewed to last through the end of the year? Is this true? If so... where the heck do I get a form for one of these, and how much does it cost?

Sorry for my n00b questions- I'm sure this stuff has already been said somewhere, I just haven't found it. Probably in a really obvious place :(

Well, back in the day Jedi Knight Luke, Trenchcoat Han, and General Lando were my big favorites :) Guess I was a bit of a ROTJ nut then, too...

Trenchcoat Han looks pretty bad these days though, but I have to say that there's still something endearing about that Luke. He makes the head sculpt look a lot better than the first Luke or Degobah Luke did, and his outfit is pretty cool. But maybe it's the high heels ;)

These days, though... well, I need to get some Commtech Stormtroopers, a Commtech Greedo, and a Commtech Luke, but of what I have/had and have taken apart for customizing...

#1 EU Dark Jedi Luke
A great headsculpt and a pretty gnarly- if a little weird- outfit, plus a removeable/turning hand- when I first got this figure it tempted me to avoid my custom figure plans for the head, and just leave the figure as-is.

#2 EU Grand Admiral Thrawn
Again with the great headsculpt, and except for his wimpy shoulders and short stature, his imperial uniform looks a bit better than Tarkin's or Piett's in the way the "skirt' piece meets at the hip joints.

#3 Commtech Han Solo
Decent sculpting and great articulation for back then, plus a normal-sized gun with good detailing- and a removeable vest. This figure really helped start some good trends, I think, and he's the king of custom fodder (and Corellia?).

#4 Ceremonial Gear Luke Skywalker
Great young Mark Hammil headsculpts began here, and he's not over-buff and his outfit is pretty cool, plus he'd make wonderful custom fodder... good all-around.

#5 Flashback Luke Skywalker
Commtech Luke looks better, but this Luke packed some pretty cool accessories...

#6 "All New Likeness" Leia Organa
Why is this still one of the best Leia headsculpts? Am I missing something they've made since?

#7 Hoth Gear Luke Skywalker
Still the best neutral version of this figure, and he manages to evade buffness as well- plus he's just pretty cool overall :)

#8 Obi Wan "Ben" Kenobi
Of the original line, only he and C3PO really looked anywhere close to right, and Obi Wan stands the test of time a little better I think.

#9 Yoda
Like Ben, Yoda looked pretty good and actually doesn't look bad amongst newer figures now.

#10 Admiral Ackbar
The best Ackbar we've gotten...

I was at Wal Mart checking for VTSCs or maybe a freakishly early restock of normal TSC figures, and instead I discovered, laying around the Star Wars stuff, a SA Clone Trooper! I know he wasn't there, so either the employees found him in some weird part of the store, or someone had it MOC a few months and then returned it.

His card had a small torn place and I think one of the pieces of tape might've been missing from the back, but who cares, because I'm an opener and this figure's great! He's probably the best army-builder I have now, outdoing my evolutions sets. I'm pretty pleased with him :)

He was $5.88 though. Our Wal Mart had a $3 clearance sale back in December on all ROTS figures, but all they had were what I considered bunk stuff (Grievous Bodyguards, a Nemoidian Senator dude, and some other things I forget). Surely figures someone wanted, but nothing I wanted... and this clone sure wasn't in any of that.

I'm pretty happy with him though :)

116
I know :( I wish one of those Han's would magically materialize in our Wal Mart.

Then again, a ROTS SA Clone did magically materialize in Wal Mart today, so I shouldn't complain ;)

I love this thread, it's quite entertaining. It's a great idea, and I love that source that inspired Purple Pimp Daddy's creation :)

Looking forward to seeing his further adventures...

Toy Reviews / Re: THE BEST VADER FIGURE EVER...
« on: April 30, 2006, 12:56 AM »
Well, I don't have a lot- my best vader is TSC Vader after all- but I'd say the best-looking and the one I've heard the most good about is the Evolutions Vader. He looks darn good, and big- appropriately big. The sculpting is great and you can pose him however you'd like.

VOTC Vader looks like a good enough figure, but the sculpting seems wrong in a number of ways. Most glaring is his slightly mis-sized/mis-shaped helmet- not sure exactly what's wrong with it, but a comparison shot between him and the 500th/TSC and Evolutions Vaders shows what I mean.

If he's never going to get moved much though... have you considered a 500th or TSC Vader? The TSC ones seem to be all over the place, and the sculptwork is all very good, and the cape's flow can be controlled if you know how to handle it and discreetly try to tuck it under the arms and such, unlike a certain ROTS Vader and his "I'm Batman!" cape (and pose).

If you'll forgive me liking again to Rebelscum's photo archive (look at it this way: you're stealing their bandwidth!), I think this comparison shot shows your probable best choices.

JD doesn't happen to have a comparison shot of these four Vaders up, but they do have some rather nice archives of each for your further comparison:

VOTC Vader - supposedly the "ultimate" Vader, but, angle cuts and such... and a little wacky sculpting...
2006 TSC Hoth Vader - rerelease of the 500th Vader and soon to be rerereleased in the Tatooine Wave, probably cheapest and easiest to find (check your local Wal Mart and Target :))
Evolutions Vader - Arguably the Ultimate Vader, though he has right-hand grip issues according to some and lacks VOTC Vader's ball-jointed head and belt saber hilt; he makes up for it with lots of ball-joints elsewhere, great sculpting, and cool soft-goods

500th Vader doesn't seem to be in the JD archives; basically he's TSC Vader with a different paintjob on the chest/shoulder armor, a second removeable right hand that resembles the left, and a meditation chamber which can remove/replace his helmet via lever.

Hope that helps :)

To be crude, I think I'm going to be SOL on getting one of these guys. No sign of VTSC in our store yet.

I just want to get my hands on Han at least...

My goal though, is to have one of these, and then two POTJ scout troopers and one of the POTF2 bikes w/removeable figure. That way I have 4 scout troopers and one is also "ultimate."

I prefer to have $36 more to spend on other things instead of having 4 of these guys, anyway :/

You could easily repaint his badge and make Admiral Piett if you prefer, though ;) But that would be a custom, not hte original figure technically.
