The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Jedi = Star Trek red shirts?
« on: July 31, 2005, 07:44 AM »
heh, I've been calling the NJO "newbie" jedi Red Shirts for years!

They show up at the beginning of the book to be 'offed' at the end. At least the film ones, most stuck around for a couple of movies. Even in the books the jedi a pretty whimpy.

I was sorely disappointed by the simplicity of killing the Jedi in Revenge as well. And the Jedi they showed tended to be Council ones too. The cream of the crop and they just bought it like nothing. Kind of makes you wonder about the intelligence of Sidious. :P

I had been hoping that Sidious would have cloned more silent avengers (i.e. Mauls) for that fight. Imagine the spectacle of that!

They could have at least shown the jedi really taking down the clones with them, or perhaps having the Star Destroyers just bombarding them into nothing. I could see that working.

Lucas was totally lazy for the Sidious battle. You barely see a flash and all three council Jedi are toast. Then you get a little manuvering around with Mace and that's it. Sure you can pawn it off to saying Sidious was clouding their minds or no one knew Sith Lords were tough little buggers, but they all knew about Maul. That's a pretty tough yardstick there.

Guys, the whole point of the Prequels is that the Jedi were arrogant and when their attackers came after them they were caught off guard. Good point speeder! I could see them stopping and thinking "What's the from my clones? A threat?! huh? Ouch that hurts....gasp croak"

They look a lot like the Ridell helmets. Are they deformed? The Stormtrooper and TIE fighter Pilot look deformed to me. And C-3PO looks like a cartoon.

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Cool Kid Collectors
« on: July 31, 2005, 02:15 AM »
Unfortunately, I feel that the attention spans of kids today are even shorter than when I was a youngling as it's all about the video games and other consumer electronics.

I completely agree, kids are growing up without imaginations. All their toys do things, make noise, light up or are video games. I have always hated action features, even launching missiles and the like. I hope I am wrong, imaginations are important.

I do note the insane kid lust for the toy lightsabers. My nephew has four of them already! I think my sister got extras so I can defend myself, but I never get Mace's saber. :'(

Looking at Cartoons these days is sad. Sure the 80's ones were just long commercials, but I loved them.

I watched cartoons with my nephew yesterday, TMNT is still around, but generally they are all dark and accultish cartoons now. Everyone is a wizard or warlock and they do all these dark things. I don't know, it just felt wrong.

Besides that, I think my nephew doesn't have an imagination and thus doesn't care a lick about action figures. I've noticed this about everyone of his friends too; scary.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: ROTS Deleted Scenes
« on: July 31, 2005, 12:48 AM »
Lucas did a good deal of extra work to complete the Episode I deleted scenes. I'd not rule out anything.

Then again, the Episode I deleted scenes didn't really make me wonder why they weren't left in, heh.

yeah, opening weekend is all the studios seem to aim for. I think there is nothing like the theatre experience though.

I do hope there is a super Star Wars Saturday at a theatre near me. I'd digg up the cash for that!

Vader's had a lot of time hunting and killing Jedi to satiate his rage. bwahaha (sinister laughter)

I found putting in 20 something Anakin in the ROTJ spirit scene odd. Yoda looked like he did when he died, so does Kenobi, what's up with Anakin? You can't say "that's how he looked when last he was good," as he was good when he died.

Yeah I'm slow ;D

I'm 25 and live in the southern 'burbs of the Twin Cities, Minnesota. We moved here in Feb '04.

I collected Star Wars 4 inch figures, Action Fleet, Micro Machines, LEGOs, and Die Cast vehicles from about 1993-1999. I also have most of the trading cards from 1993-1996 (Galaxy, widevision, Finest)

I had to stop due to a lack of funds. I am pondering selling off much, if not all, of my collection. I'm looking over your Classifieds forum now any suggestions on a reputable means to price items for that forum?

Surprisingly, my desire to buy the toys has pretty much gone away, but I still like to look and shoot the breeze about it.

I enjoy Star Wars books and comics, history, politics and long walks on the beach. :P

Star Wars Universe / Re: New Jedi Order!

Matt_Fury:

I'm very iffy on the series as a whole. Just with the premise they set and didn't follow, that's a real big pet peeve with me.

The spent a lot of time in the resulting emotions and toil from a death. I'm mainly talking about Chewie's death. It was just in-your-face will show you a main character can buy it. Anakin you are right about.

I also didn't like the 'new' jedi that would show up in the start of a book; just so there'd be someone to kill at the end. lol

They are jedi and a lot of them get killed off so easily by the Vong. They can't directly use the force on the Vong, but they are still in a world of the force, use that.

My ultimate favorite story was "Rebel Lines." My least favorite was "Vector Prime."

I can't really see a Star Wars game where you have peon/minions that go and collect resources. It just doesn't fit in my mind.

It could be like FC with the points system or like Rebellion where you build mines and refineries and then the resources trickle in.

I'm more used to the Rebellion set up, I started playing it again. In case you were wondering, it is still fun. (I blew up two whole star systems, and yet more didn't slip through my fingers *manical cackling*)

Star Wars Action Figures / Re: RollaJedi's Customs

Great choice on the figure. Are you going to attempt his tiny partner? That little guy killed me so many times. heh

What about splitting the front and back torso sections? Then hollowing them out a little for the rubber band? I don't know if there is enough room for that though.

Or, imbed another hook in the bottom of the torso and use a dental (braces) rubberband. I used to replace my broken GI Joe bands with those little braces bands, I think they worked pretty well.

That looks great, I hope they keep the Rebellion style resource set up too.
