Saga Legends / Re: Saga Legends "Mission Series" Figure 2-Packs
« on: February 5, 2014, 05:52 PM »
Okay, so here's a question to Hasbro for Toy Fair.  If people have been finding product they want to buy, like Diddly and others, on the pegs, but they pass on them due to horrible quality control (paint apps), then isn't this is another reason that product doesn't move?  It's not that people don't want what they put out but they pass on it because the final product is bad.

Is it me, or is the quality control on the paint for all the product lines slipping?  Seems like I've passed on more than a handful of 6" and TBS figures due to crossed-eyes, etc.  I've historically not been all that anal about paint apps, so I'm not sure if I'm getting pickier or if the paint is actually worse across the board.

I do not mind the 5 POA figures from an articulation standpoint, but don't want to buy something that looks like a terrible bootleg (unless its actually a terrible bootleg) because the paint is so bad.

I had a nearly complete (just missing a few TPM items) boxed Hasbro 12" collection that I sold off individually.  I probably got $0.75 on the dollar for what I paid for it.

A handful of items are selling at a decent premium.  Half sold for about retail, and about 1/3 sold for steeper discounts of $9 for a $20 figure.

As I mentioned previously, probably 1/2 of my collection sold to international bidders with nearly all of the big ticket items going internationally.

I did sell my stuff in the November/December time frame so I might have gotten a little boost from Christmas shopping.

It was amazing how much room I created by clearing out my 12" collection.  All those boxed items took up a ton of space.  Probably eight very large moving boxes worth of stuff.

It was a lot of work though.  Finding all the items in my collection, taking photos, finding comparative pricing on eBay, listing them on eBay, re-listing them on eBay, shipping, and dealing with all the auctions was a lot of work, but I ended up getting $2000.

I was surprised to find that having true (high) shipping costs hasn't overly hindered my international auctions as much as I had thought.

Like I mentioned, I cleaned out my entire 12" collection including Taun Tauns and Speeder Bikes.  All of them ended up shipping international where shipping was $55 or higher per item.  I think it ended up driving bidders to buy lots of stuff and combine shipping.

I had a guy from Germany buy $500 worth of stuff as a result and pay $175 in shipping.

Not sure if shipping from Canada to international locations is similar or worse than US rates though.

I had a similar issue just last month.

In November I shipped a package to Chile via first class mail as advertised with no tracking.  It took two months to get there.  :o :o

I ship internationally frequently as I find I get better bids from international people and I've never had an issue before (just sold my entire 140 item 12" collection and 2/3 of it was purchased by international bidders).  Luckily this person was very patient and didn't get too cranky.  But because of this issue I've decided not to ship any other way than Priority mail.  I've made a few exceptions for shipping first class to Canada, but will not ship any other way internationally.

Hopefully that protects me when it comes to angry/unreasonable eBayers.  It seemed to help on a recent shipment that was stuck in customs in Germany for a month.  The tracking number showed the package made it to Germany and was sitting in a holding area, so the purchaser was able to direct his anger at the German postal service and not me.

If I could avoid eBay to clear out the extras in my collection I would.  I just don't know of any great other options.  I've only had tepid response from listing things on Craigslist.

I'm pretty sure you can get all the Lego exclusives through TRU.com as well.  They've got the Ewok Village and Death Star available.  Didn't check the LOTR sets.

You can even get a huge deal  ;) at TRU.com right now for the Ewok Village.  Marked down to $250 (normal MSRP) from $300.

I would just ignore him too.  I've left neutral feedback for crappy buyers only to receive a flurry of angry responses.

Its just one of the fun parts of eBay  ::)

I think all of the "Lego Store Exclusives" have been made available to other retailers, although most are only offered online.

Currently you can buy the Ewok Village from Target.com for the same price (5% cheaper if you use a Target card) you can get it from Lego.com.

I'm sure at some point you will be able to get the Ewok Village at MSRP on Amazon, you just may need to wait awhile.  In fact most (all?) of the fall 2013 Lego Star Wars releases are only available on Amazon through 3rd parties for inflated prices (Umbaran MHC, Starhopper, etc.).  Not sure if this is a contract thing with Amazon that new releases aren't sold there for a period of time or what.

Even if they don't do flashbacks, they could drop in a few OT characters in to a cantina scene and have them be safely made - e.g. Tonnika sisters.  Probably harder to do with core characters though without a flashback.

Justin -

I've had the same issue as well.  I think I've been a member three of the past five years (only pull the trigger when they've got a PGM bust I really want) and I've never been able to use the $30 coupon.

If I recall there is some fine print on the coupon too that you can't use it for convention exclusives, etc.  As I recall I picked up the Yoda with 3D glasses and popcorn a couple years ago and couldn't use my $30 coupon on that since it was a WonderCon exclusive.

Its frustrated me as well, but I've just resigned myself to the math that the $30 coupon shouldn't be factored in to the deal.

Anybody get the LEGO Star Wars 9500 Sith Fury-class Interceptor?  Thoughts?

They've got a 30% off sale right now and I'm just not sure how interesting the set looks to me.

I grabbed the Hoth set and put it together with my six year old.  I would agree with Mike, even at $30 it doesn't feel like I got much of a deal.  I think $30-35 should have been the retail price to begin with.

I passed on the Y-Wing, even though it was a great price.  I just don't think its all that different from the previous releases that I already have.

Picked up the Republic Gunship and Jabba's Sail Barge on Amazon this week at 35% off.  Amazon has been having some really good sales lately, although their pricing seems to ping pong all over the place.  One minute its 20% off and the next its 35% off.

I see all of Wave 1 warming the shelves at this point.  I'm worried that any carryovers will only make things worse.  If somebody hasn't been able to get their fill of this wave then they live under a rock.

I'm not sure there are a many 6" army builders, and I know I don't want two Han figures (sorry Jeff).

Maybe if they did case revisions to empty the warehouse of leftover wave 1 and 2 figures it might be okay, but I'm worried that two waves of Han is one too many.
