The Hall call arrives for Gwynn, Ripken

- I know, I know.  It's a big "no duh" moment as it's not a surprise to anyone that they got in on the first try.  Nice to see that they both got about as close as you can get to a unanimous pick (97.5% or higher for both) for the Hall.

- Again, another non-surprise, Big Mac got less than 25%.   :o

- Goose Gossage got 71.2%, maybe next year will be his year.  :-\

Yeah, it's the same sculpt as the Windu Battle Pack clone, but he looks so much nicer in "Utapau Orange".   :)

Is the offer still valid?

Yes, the offer is good through February 28th, 2007.

"Certificates must be postmarked by February 28, 2007 and received by March 8, 2007. "

I'm in for 2007, anyone else?

I'll be keeping track agin in '07.  :)

As far as "large purchases" go, I have to say my largest in 2006 was my Series 7 Master Case Order from Robby.

Sure, I ended up the majority of the cases to the local guys, but there is nothing like getting a call from your Credit Card company asking to validate a $2k charge from Japan.  :P

I ordered a case of Wave 2 from New Force Comics - just $79.94 shipped (works out to $6.66 per figure).

Can't beat that price.  It's basically the same as Target, but shipped right to your door!  ;)

Hasbro said a few times that Artoo-Potatoo would see "limited release" due to diminished retailer support, but they never really said what that meant.  I never saw one at retail and ordered mine through HasbroToyShop to be safe.  I guess it's possible that K-Mart asked for it and more were made or something?

As for TRU/Superstore finds, they don't really count because Canada does strange stuff.  You can't get all the basic figure waves, but you can get limited release potato heads?   Crazy Canada... ::)

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: Cloned Out?
« on: January 8, 2007, 02:35 PM »
so far, I haven't seen the #41 mold...but I'm sure it will show up in some form later in the year.

Your selective memory must be trying to block it out...  for sure the #41 will be back in the Saga Legends line:

2007 Saga Legends Clone Trooper (original RotS #41 repack)
2007 Saga Legends Shocktrooper (from Battle Pack, uses the #41 sculpt)
2007 Saga Legends 501st Clone Trooper (new repaint that uses the #41 sculpt)

Kubricks / Re: Show me Your Kubes!

Is that display from the Cantina three pack that had the blue Snag/Kitik, etc. in it?  Or something else, my memory might be wrong since all I ever see is cardboard.

That case was one of those larger die-cast car cases.  I can't remember the name of it, but it cost like $6 at TRU.

Yep, made it myself and gave a few to the local MN Kubrick Crew.

As a lucky recipient, I can vouch for the coolness of the Kubrick banners.   8)

Looking good Jay!  Just a few more to track down!   ;)

I hope KC does as well as Colorado did with their second chance, but I won't be cheering for them.

Let's say that the Penguins do move to KC... how would that affect re-alignment?  You can't have a team that far West in the Eastern Conference, can you?   ???

Hmmm... I suppose you could:
- move the Capitals to the Atlantic
- move the Predators to the Southeast

That would put the new KC team in the Central Division with St. Louis, not too shabby.

Of course, I'm still rooting for the Pens to stay... too bad I don't have any say in that matter.   :P

Well, it's that time of year again...  Hall of Fame reveal next week!

  - Ripken and Gwynn should be about as easy a lock as there is for first-timers

  - It will be interesting to see what happens with McGuire... I see ESPN is convinved he won't get in.  I could go either way - he probably did steroids, but at the same times there are a lot of other guys out there that did too... although they aren't hall of famers.   :-\

  - and finally, best of luck to Bert Blyleven.  Yeah, it's a total homer pick, but it's too bad with all his numbers that he isn't in the hall.  If only he had hit the magic 300 wins, I'm sure he'd be in by now.   :(

In other news, I see that DR's Yanks dumped the Big Unit.  Good move as far as I can tell (he hasn't been the same since he left AZ), plus it frees up some money to woo the Rocket, no?

Oh, and mock kudos to the Twins on signing Ponson.  Unless someone can find the 2003 Ponson hiding inside him, I think our rotation is in a lot of trouble this year...  :'(
