Other Toy Lines / Re: Modern Masters of the Universe

So what does everyone think of the rest of the MOTU figures that were shown so far this week?  I think Fisto will definitely be a favorite, as well as other figures that we have seen before (Zodac, Roboto..not sure if he was shown this time).  What are your opinions of the new versions of other characters, and the "Snake-armor" versions?  I'm usually not big on variations like that, but some don't look too bad.  I actually kind of like the Stratos they have shown, and the one He-Man with the new armor (not the one with the arms sticking out everywhere).  The Snake Men themselves are pretty cool too, I always remember Kobra Khan being a favorite of many kids when I was younger.

Fisto was always one of my favorites when I was a kid, I really like how they have updated his look for this new line.  The Four Horsemen continue to do an amazing job with this line, I really want to start collecting it :).  I remember also having a figure named "Jitsu" from the vintage line that often fought against Fisto.  This is a great week for toy collectors, with all the new images coming in.  So many lines are done so well these days.

I noticed that their site has been having troubles too, thanks for the heads up though OCB.  The few pictures I have been able to get in there and see look great.  Can't wait to see more!

I really like the looks of the new figures we have been shown too.  I was also over at GH looking at their coverage so far, and things look pretty good.  However, it was kind of disappointing to only see a handful of new things from the "Saga" line.  Clone Wars doesn't look too bad, I'm looking forward to seeing what the cartoon is like too.  Overall these figures (Bail, Padme, Dignitary, Sketchtrooper), all look great, and I will add all to my collection (if I can find them).

Announcements / Re: Other Toy Lines and You...New Forum Section?

This is a great idea OCB.  I know I sometimes feel bad posting all these questions in Watto's about other toylines (Marvel Legends, MOTU, Simpsons, etc.).  Also, like you said, it seems like many of us are interested in other lines, especially with the Star Wars drought.  I know I would visit the new forum, as well as Watto's for other general discussion. :)  Plus, we might be having more posting going on with new pictures from different toy lines coming up at Comic Con this week/weekend. :)

Just saw news at ESPN.com that the Miami Heat have offered Elton Brand a 6 year, 82 million dollar deal.  Now we'll have to see if Sterling and the Clips will match....they're going to have a whole different team next year...losing all of their talent.  Oh well, they probably wouldn't have ever put it together anyways :).

Here's the link to the story:

One other question about this line (sorry).  Is this a difficult line to collect overall?  As far as finding figures, or maybe there being too many releases or too expensive to keep up?  I think I will only collect the ones I like if I decide to start buying them...plus, even if I were to be a "completist", it would only be with the regular release characters, not the exclusives or "smash blade, super armor, etc" He-Mans and Skeletors.  And most likely, no vehicles or playsets either.  Have there been certain figures that have been a problem to find?  I do realize it will probably be a little more difficult for me if I decide to do this, since I am coming into the game later on.  Thanks again for all the advice and info everyone.  I hope people continue to discuss the line here, when there is anything new popping up :).

Thanks OCB!  To ebay I go! :)  Thanks for the links to SCS as well, I've been there a few times...really a well done site, especially if you want to learn more about any of the figures that have been released.

I had a question for you Simpsons collectors.  I have never collected this line (although it looks great), but have always wanted to pick up a few here and there.  One that I want the most is a Ralph Wiggum...and I was curious what a decent price was for this figure.  Should I just look through the ebay auctions, or is now a bad time to go after this figure?  Also, what is the best (and hopefully not overpriced) version of Homer to get.  Those are my two favorite characters, and I thought about trying to pick them up to have them on my desk.  Thanks for any advice!

Saga '02-'04 / Re: Comic Con!
« on: July 14, 2003, 04:11 PM »
I really hope that we will be able to see some new stuff as well, maybe some figures that haven't even been announced.  I'm sure we will see things such as the other two screen scenes, and the concept stormtrooper, since images have already leaked relating to those pieces.  I know they "mentioned" a 2004 preview, so hopefully we will get some more confirmations or even some early protos/pics of some of the goodies for next year.  I just hope we don't only see more pictures  of the figures shown at the Hasbro show in March...some of those figures are great, but I think we're all ready to see something new too....plus, many collectors need something to bump up their spirits on the Star Wars line.  Hasbro may start losing customers otherwise.

I was just curious....a question for you experts out there.  I was looking over some of the pics from Toy Fair earlier this year, and I wasn't sure exactly what this figure was supposed to be?

It looks somewhat like a skeleton or something, you'll have to forgive me, I haven't seen all of the episodes of the new Masters show :).  Anyone have an idea?

***Edit:  Nevermind, after looking through the rest of the pictures, it looks like it is part of the playset that is pictured next to it.  You can view the rest of the pictures here

if you want to, there is also Roboto and Zodac preview pics here.  Although it is old news, I thought I'd post it here just in case there are other new collectors that haven't seen it.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Cartoon Watchers?
« on: July 14, 2003, 10:42 AM »
Oh yeah, seeing that post also reminded me that I occasionally watch the Looney Tunes when they happen to be on....that was always one of my favorites, and I watched it as a child, through high school and college, and some times now even.  I think many of those cartoons have stood the test of time well.  I also catch Spongebob Squarepants on occasion, but it has been awhile...its actually funnier than I thought :).

I agree, although I did see a few kids in the Star Wars aisle last year, and once in awhile this year, its been mostly collectors.  I'm really not a fan of the action features, and I am glad they are leaving...and I'm not usually a big fan of extreme poses either, although it sort of works for some figures.  This just hasn't been a great year for Star Wars, with people having troubles finding so many figures.  Some of the figures have still been great, but just a big pain to find and obtain.  I know I probably wouldn't have started collecting or looking at collecting other lines if I could find more new SW product on the shelves...but you get to the point where you want to collect something you can actually get :).  Of course, I'll always be a Star Wars fan first, I just hope they are able to get some of these problems fixed somewhat...and get everyone excited about the line again, more like they were during POTJ.  Maybe the rest of this year and 2004 will bring that about.
