Watto's Junk Yard / Re: "Office Space"
« on: September 19, 2003, 09:28 AM »
This is one of my all-time favorites as well.  One of my best friends and I have worked in an office/company quite similar to the one in this movie, so we get a kick out of it.  Its funny how true a lot of that stuff is.  "Looks like someone has a case of the Mondays..." :)

Saga '02-'04 / Re: Future Waves?
« on: September 18, 2003, 04:56 PM »
Thanks for the posts everyone, it is a lot of fun speculating/hearing what might be coming next year.  I really think that 2004 is going to be a tremendous year for Star Wars collectors, from what we have seen and heard so far.  I was curious, in case I missed it, but packaged images of the Concept Stormie/Bail Organa, Tatooine Padme, Dignitary, Club Obi, Elan Sleazebaggano, etc...and the rest of the 2003 figures have not shown up yet have they?  I guess I don't mind if they hold off a little bit longer, I still have some catching up to do, but I was just curious.  That is the next wave isn't it?

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: How many stores do you hit on your toy runs?
« on: September 18, 2003, 04:29 PM »
Unfortunately, the town we live in isn't large enough for these stores...but when we go on our "shopping" trips (about 40 minutes away), here's the rundown of what I check out usually.

1 Super Wal-Mart (Not much recently though, mostly old stock of all the lines...they do have a TON of Marvel Legends figures as of late though)
1 Greatland Target (this just opened recently, has been pretty well stocked with most lines)
1 TRU (giant wall of Pilot Jangos in the SW section, but got an Unleashed Luke there)
1 K-B (this store usually has nothing, and we don't always stop there)

Saga '02-'04 / Re: New Hoth 4-pack!
« on: September 18, 2003, 04:25 PM »
I also got my set from Amazon yesterday, and my Tauntaun had the broken horn as well.  This is the only one of these packs I've picked up so far, but I think it is worth the money.  I didn't have a Tauntaun in my collection, so that was enough for me, and the figures are pretty good too.  My Leia doesn't look too bad either, paint doesn't seem to be too bad at least.

That is kind of what I was thinking too OCB, thanks for the advice.  I would rather hold out and see if I could find it in the stores for $7.99 or $8.99, but I don't know if this figure would be easy to find.  I just thought between ebay and other online stores, this might be the best (reliable) deal for me...but I thought I'd ask the experts.  Thanks again!

Also, noticed over at OfftheCard.com, that they have reports of different two/three packs showing up in the Phillipines.  One with Sam, Frodo, and Gollum (repacks), and one with Sauron and Saruman I believe.  Some of the ones that were rumored awhile back I believe.  You guys were right, for the most part a person really could come into this line at any time due to all the repacks :).

I had another question for you LOTR experts.  If I can get my wife talked into it, I have considered picking up a few of these figures.  I want to start with a Legolas figure (since my wife is an Orlando Bloom fan, I might get away with it easier), and I am leaning towards the Rohan Armor one (it looks to be the best, and many have said it is?).  It is currently in stock at KBToys.com if I am correct, for $9.99.  I hate to pay shipping on just one figure like that, but I don't know if we can afford for me to order a few at once right now.  Anyways...I was wondering, will this be the best price I can probably find one for?  I know I have never had much luck seeing any Legolas figure in the stores, at least not for very long.  I was just curious if this was a decent deal for this figure or not, or if I should hold out.  Thanks!

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: What else do you collect?
« on: September 17, 2003, 04:56 PM »
Just thought I would bump this thread up again, since it seems like everyone's interests are always changing, and plus...I'm always interested to see what everyone is collecting.  For me, its pretty much only Star Wars right now (for the most part).  I collect most of the 3 3/4" line, and I have actually gotten a few new figures within the past month.  I also collect the Unleashed line, as well as the Playskool line...if it continues any further.  Although we don't really even have enough room for my Star Wars stuff, other collections continue to call my name.  My wife isn't crazy about me picking up either line right now, but I am currently torn between MOTU and LOTR.  I kind of change my mind every week it seems.  I don't necessarily want to be a completist with either line, but I wouldn't mind having a few figures from each.  I currently only have He-Man and Sy-Klone from the MOTU line, and would really like to eventually pick up some LOTR figures (Gollum, Legolas are at the top of my list, as well as Frodo, Aragorn, Gandalf, Sam, etc.)  Then there gets this issue of Armies of Middle Earth or the Toy Biz figs...aahh! :)  I make these decisions more difficult than they need to be.  Anyways, just curious what everyone was collecting at this point....if any lines have fallen out of favor with you, or if you have started collecting any new lines.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: RIP Johnny Cash and John Ritter...
« on: September 17, 2003, 12:47 PM »
I have to agree, thoughts and prayers to both of their families/friends.  I was especially shocked by the John Ritter news, he was always one of my favorites as well, and seemed like a terrific guy from what I have seen/heard.  I watched the tribute special they had for him last night on ABC, truly a loss of a great man.  God bless their families.

Toy Reviews / Re: Coleman Trebor

Nice review and pics!  I have to agree with you, I was also able to get this figure about a week and a half ago, and it is one of their best figures this year I think.  You can really get a lot of different poses, and the sculpting is great too.

dustrho...just curious if/when you do open up this figure, I was wondering how your luck was with standing it up.  I got this figure last week, and although it is currently standing, it isn't overly secure for me at least.  There is a little tab that kind of sticks in behind her wheel to help her stand, but mine doesn't stay very well.  I was just curious if it was just me or what :).  Otherwise, a pretty cool figure though!

The Prequel Trilogy / A Few Episode III Pics (From TF.N forums)
« on: September 16, 2003, 05:16 PM »
Just happened to be strolling through theforce.net's forums, and someone had posted this link, which has a few Episode III pics in it (including one of Anakin).  Sorry if you've already seen this, just thought I would post it just in case.  I'm getting psyched for this movie already, and we have such a long wait!

The Original Trilogy / Re: Original Star Wars available again on DVD
« on: September 16, 2003, 03:56 PM »
I've always been curious about these DVDs as well, since reading about them originally over at the RS forums awhile back.  At the price ($10 per movie), not a bad substitute until Lucas gets around to releasing them actual versions.  Might have to go ahead and order this time, plus, if you get the Original versions, it will most likely be the only way we can get those particular versions of the movies anyways.  Anyone know where this company is based (U.S., overseas, etc.?)  Just curious.  By the way, thanks for posting this rebeltrader.

Other Collectibles / Re: Unleashed Discussion Thread
« on: September 16, 2003, 09:44 AM »
I didn't know if anyone noticed for sure, but Kebco now has Yoda/Han/Boba in stock fro $19.99 a piece I believe.  Also, supposedly anyone who preordered these through them (like me), they will start shipping out today (9/16).  If you didn't preorder, might be a good chance to pick these up.  I have a feeling these would sell fast if they made it to stores.  Anyways, just thought I'd post in case anyone hadn't seen it yet.

Saga '02-'04 / Anyone Use Entertainment Earth for Preorders?
« on: September 15, 2003, 05:06 PM »
I was just curious if any of you have or will use Entertainment Earth for any Star Wars preorders.  I personally have never ordered from them, but after seeing a post in another thread about preordering upcoming figures (such as Hoth Luke, etc.), I went to their site to check them out.  The only preordering I have ever done is this year through Kebco, and they didn't end up getting their cases (which is not their fault from what I have read).  But, although I am not usually impatient, I did preorder the figures in March, and still don't have them...but then again I haven't seen them in stores either.  I guess I just was wondering if any one service is better than the other, or if any of you have switched.  I know if you visit GH.com, they seem to get theirs from EE pretty quickly to review, etc., but maybe that is because of sponsorship or something too.  Anyways, I have heard in the past that their prices are high, but I see now in some instances they offer figure sets instead of whole cases, which would be pretty nice if the price isn't too bad.  Anyways, I was just curious if anyone has used them, and how you would rate their service (pricey? speedy? etc.)?  Thanks for any advice.

Saga '02-'04 / How Goes the Hunt?
« on: September 15, 2003, 04:08 PM »
Just curious how everyone's Star Wars hunts have been going lately.  It seems like there have been a few more reports here and there of people finding newer (or at least 2003) stuff in stores lately, as well as some things being offered online (specifically Amazon.com).  What have you been able to find lately (if anything)?  Personally, this is what has been showing up around here as of late:

I saw my first 2003 figures near me the other day, seeing the research droids, DF Padme, and a repackaged KE Jango.  I didn't get any of them, already had the Padme from Kebco.  Also, found the Clone Wars 3-packs at a Target, picked up the blue clone one.  My brother (who lives about an hour away) found WA-7, repacked Vader, Emperor, Dannl Faytonni, Coleman Trebor, and Wat Tambor for me, which I was pretty happy about.  I also got notification that my Battle of Hoth has shipped from Amazon.com.  Otherwise, I personally haven't seen a whole lot of new product, but a few things are trickling here and there...or at least within a couple of hours I guess.  I have also seen many of the Clone Wars ships (Gunship, Jedi Starfighter, AAT).  Still waiting on preorders through Kebco for Hoth Han (the figure I probably want the most from this year), Mynock Chewie, Yoda/Chian, Ashla/Jempa, TR Luke and Vader, and the Snowtrooper.  Hopefully they will get their shipment in soon.  I've also considered preordering Aayla and Barriss, since they have them up again, although I'm currently holding out hope that I can get them for retail (yeah right).  Anyways...how are things going for you?  I hope you are all finding what you are looking for.
