Other Toy Lines / Re: Modern Masters of the Universe
« on: September 10, 2003, 11:01 PM »
Sorry to hear that you are giving up collecting as well HMI...but I did drop you an e-mail about your figs.  Although I don't have the funds right now, I'd like to talk to you in the future about hopefully taking a few off of your hands.  Anyways...I hope some people are sticking with this line....but it does seem to be fairly frustrating.  I did see over at the He-Man.org forums that Roboto has shown up (ebay only I think), and someone over there has received one and has some loose pics.  This is the figure I have been looking forward to the most, hopefully people will be able to find them in stores.  I see there are a few on ebay now as well going for anywhere from $40 to $80 I think.  I can't believe how high these figures go for initially...worse than Star Wars new releases, especially considering these are not "exclusives"...although with the case packs, it seems like some of them pretty much are ;).

Saga '02-'04 / Retail 2004: How Do You Think It Will Be?
« on: September 10, 2003, 05:52 PM »
With all of the problems many (or most) of us have had finding figures at retail in 2003, do you think things will change for next year?  Personally, there are a lot of figures being shown and/or rumored that I really don't want to miss out on...but its always nicer to find them in the store for retail price.  I have finally seen 2003 figures at retail in the past two weeks, spotting a DF Padme, Flying R2, Research Droids, and a repacked Jango Fett KE so far.  I also found the first two Screen Scene sets, but only had enough $ to pick up the Jedi Council one, and all were gone a week later when I came back.  Also, my brother was nice enough to pick up WA-7, Emperor, Wat Tambor, repacked Vader, Coleman Trebor, and Dannl Faytonni (he lives about an hour away from me)...so I was thinking maybe retail might be starting to improve...even here in Nebraska.  But, things still aren't great, and I know others have had problems still.  I'm still trying to catch up on everything from 2003 (waiting on preorders from Kebco).  I have noticed however that even if stores don't have the latest figures, the old ones have at least been cleared out (there's usually almost nothing there period, at least for basic figures).  Anyways, long story short, do you think things will clear up towards the end of this year and early next year?  I don't know about everyone else, but really the basic figures have been the biggest problems around here.  I have seen the Luke/Sidious/Obi Wan Unleashed wave a few times, the Council Scenes once, the 12" Han/Lando/Officer wave once, and all of the Clone Wars ships (just saw the multipacks this week too).  Do you think retail will shape up in time for us to find great upcoming figures like Hoth Luke, Wampa, C-3PO, Rieekan, etc.?  Good luck to all of you on your searches.

Saga '02-'04 / Re: Best AOTC Anakin EVER!
« on: September 5, 2003, 03:57 PM »
I agree, once I got my SC Anakin from Kebco, and had it opened up, I think this is the best overall Anakin figure we have.  I'm not crazy about the cloak, and it got tossed in a tupperware with other extra accessories.  I liked the Hangar Duel Anakin as well, but the magnet on mine is really weak, so his arm falls off if the lightest breeze touches it, and that knocks it down some.  Well that, and the wheel on his back :).

The Bullpen / Marvel Legends

I thought the same thing OCB, quite a few X-Menish figures with that new line coming out....although I am glad to see them too.  We'll have to see I guess.  This, combined with the XMC series 2 rumors of Nightcrawler, Iceman, Pyro, as well as ML Colossus, XMC 1 Cyclops and Archangel, it could be a great year for X-fans.

Take this with multiple grains of salt of course, but I noticed over at the ADC forums (or Toy News International now I guess), they had a "rumored" lineup for ML6.  It might be totally off base, but I thought I would post it here to discuss either way:

1.juggernaut
2.hawkeye
3.cable
4.wolverine(weapon x)
5.pheonix
6.deadpool

If true, I'd be pretty psyched to get a Juggernaut, as well as Phoenix.  Anyways, sorry if this turns out to be untrue, but I thought it might be fun to discuss.

Sorry to hear that OCB...but I can see where you are coming from.  It seems a lot of lines are getting difficult to collect, and unfortunately, I don't see MOTU lasting a whole lot longer either.  I am barely into this line (just He-man and Sy-Klone so far), but I am hoping to stay with it for a little while.  I am only collecting them slowly, and the figures I want have a limit to them.  Its not like Star Wars, where I end up wanting most if not all of the basic figures released....with MOTU, I basically want to work at going back and getting the characters that have been released so far, then add in a few of the upcoming figures (especially Roboto..as well as Zodac and Fisto), and wait and see if they release figures like new-style Mossman, Clawful and Stinkor.  Much further than that, I think I'd be pretty much done with what I wanted anyways.  Hopefully the line can last another year, but it does seem like it is limited.  Thanks for your past insights on the line though OCB...it was many of your comments on this line from forums that got me interested in the first place :).  Best of luck to you in whatever you decide to collect/not to collect.

Other Collectibles / Re: Unleashed Discussion Thread
« on: September 3, 2003, 04:09 PM »
Thanks for the pics OCB...I have had all of these on preorder with Kebco since they were put up on their site.  I really enjoy the Unleashed line and these are three of my favorite characters...plus, I think they all look great.  Looks like they did a great job on Harrison Ford's likeness as well on this figure.  Can't wait until these start showing up, and I hope this line continues for awhile too.

Other Toy Lines / Has This Ever Happened to You?
« on: September 3, 2003, 04:06 PM »
Do you ever find that you end up taking certain figure lines further than you originally intended?  For example, when I first got back into Star Wars collecting, it was around the time of Episode I...at the time I thought I'd just pick up a few figures (Obi Wan, Maul, 3PO, R2, Yoda, Qui-Gon), but I ended up diving in and getting not all...but well over 30 from that line.  Around that same time I also picked up the Commtech Han and Luke, thinking they were pretty cool, and I just thought I'd pick up the main characters...now a few years later my collection is littered with Amanaman, Duro, BoShek, etc., and anyone else I can find :).  With my vintage Star Wars collecting it was just going to be the ones I had as a kid (around 20 or so probably), but now I find myself trying to get a complete loose collection.  Also, with other toy lines (why I originally posted this here), I find myself wanting at first to just pick up a figure or two...but then changing my mind and thinking I need more.  First it was Marvel Legends...just Wolverine I thought...then I saw Beast, and also got Gambit and Magneto...and now want all the X-men releases in the future.  Next it was MOTU, first it was just He-Man (and maybe Skeletor), then it was all the ones I had as a kid only, now I'm thinking I'd like to get all of the regular figures (without exclusives, variants).  I've also been on the fence with LOTR for some time.  First I thought, just a Smeagol and maybe a Legolas...now I'm thinking about picking up the 9-pack, a Smeagol, and a few of the ROTK figures if I see them.  Sometimes I'm scared to start a line because I know I'll end up wanting lots of it :).  Has anyone else had experiences like this?

Middle Earth / Re: Lord of the Rings Figures
« on: September 2, 2003, 02:18 PM »
I have asked several questions of you guys regarding these figures, and I have seen the Fellowship 9-pack recommended by many of you (for me being a just-starting collector).  Anyways, from what I have read, it looks like it is a great deal...9 figures (pretty much all characters that I would like), for anywhere from $30ish to $40ish.  I was curious which versions of the characters are included in this pack, and if they are good versions of the characters?  I have been looking over some of the pictures at TheGd.com, as well as OfftheCard.com, to take a look at the figures that have been released, so I was curious which were included, and how they compared.  It would save me money in the long run to get this 9-pack, pick up a Smeagol, etc., and be pretty much done with it (I don't plan to be a completist, just a few)...but after seeing a few of the ROTK figures (the new Aragorn pictures look great, and with a new Legolas on the way as well)...maybe I should wait.  Anyways, my main question is, which versions of the characters are included in this pack?  Are the Merry and Pippen offered here and in other two packs, etc., the same?  Sorry for another lengthy question, if you have any advice for me, please let me know.  Thanks again!

The Bullpen / Marvel Legends
« on: August 29, 2003, 03:36 PM »
If this is true, this is pretty good news...thanks for posting it.  Although I don't collect Spidey figs, that sure seems like a heck of a lot of Spiderman versions for the next movie...but if people like them, sounds good to me!  I'm most excited about the X-men Classics news...Iceman and Nightcrawler are two that I was really hoping we would see soon.  It would be pretty nice to have a Legends/Classics X-Men lineup of Cyclops, Beast, Wolvie, Gambit, Iceman, Nightcrawler, Colossus, Rogue, and Archangel if this news all holds up.  Thanks again for posting this :).

I know many people haven't found the ROTK version yet, but I was thinking about picking up a Gollum figures, and I was curious which one you collectors thought was better...the bendy version or the new articulated "wall-crawling" version?  I have seen the bendy version several times, but just haven't picked it up yet...I was just curious what your opinions are...thanks!

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Last Time You Threw Up
« on: August 28, 2003, 04:02 PM »
I'm not entirely sure either, but I think the last time was when I was a sophomore in high school, and I got the flu hard core on the day of one of our basketball games.  I kept trying to go back to school (we had to be in school a half day the day of a game to be eligible to play), and I kept throwing up each time I tried to stay up and around for very long.  Ended up being the only game I missed all through high school, but I wasn't too happy about it :)  So I guess I would say its been about 10 years or so.

Other Toy Lines / Re: Why Do You Collect?
« on: August 28, 2003, 10:25 AM »
Thanks for the replies everyone, I'm glad to see that I'm not the only one who has that "nostalgia" factor with many toy lines.  Star Wars is really big with me, I can watch the movies (specifically the OT) over and over, and really never tire of them.  I imagine I will probably collect the figures in some capacity until they quit making them, just because I really like Star Wars.  Also, with MOTU, and to some extent Marvel Legends, it is a nostalgia factor as well...especially with MOTU.  Plus, as many said above, the 4HM have done an amazing job updating the looks of the characters.  Every once in awhile I get a nostalgic flavor from the new G.I. Joe stuff, although I haven't bought any of it apart from the black Snake-Eyes.  It just seems like the 80s were a good time to be a kid with these great movies, shows, and toys...I'm happy to see much of it brought back.  Again, thanks for the replies everyone.

Saga '02-'04 / Re: Amazon has screen scenes 2
« on: August 25, 2003, 03:27 PM »
I was curious, has anyone received the Jedi Council Set number 2 from Amazon?  I was fortunate enough to find the first one at Target this weekend, and I thought about just waiting it out...but if the second set is actually shipping now, that would be tempting.  I was just curious if anyone had received theirs yet, or if there was going to be a little bit of a wait.

Joe Defender / Valor vs Venom
« on: August 25, 2003, 01:23 PM »
Although I don't currently collect this line, I do look what they have out from time to time (since it was one of my favorites lines as a kid other than SW and MOTU)...and I did pick up the black Snake-Eyes/Cobra Commander 2 pack last year.  I know there are some collectors on this board who are interested in Joes, past or present, so I thought we could start a thread here to discuss them if anyone wanted to.  Plus, I just watched the "music video" for the new G.I. Joe - Spy Troops movie that is coming to Cartoon Network, and I'd have to say it looks kind of cool...keeping some of the general looks of the old characters, similar to MOTU, but with a few more changes I guess.  Anyways, here's the link, if anyone would like to see it:
