Gentle Giant / Re: Gentle Giant Jumbo Power Droid

I wonder how its click-click-click noise will sound at this scale?  R2 and R5 also clicked anyone know how similar that was in Jumbo scale?

Oh yeah, this is really awesome and I'd be all over any expansion on this little snippet.  It surfaced on the X-Wing miniatures boards a little while ago as it naturally fit in there.

A shot of Commando Luke on Speeder for this line showed up on Scum's front page today.
Here's hoping Playskool/Hasbro milks the bike for all it's worth with Scout Trooper (C'mon), Leia and Ewok versions.

Exploited Universe

Tee-hee.  I'm going have to remember that one.

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Super Hero/Comic Book Movies
« on: August 7, 2012, 02:41 AM »

Considering the direction that the Avengers took with the Chitauri and their "Ally", I think it would be interesting to see the Silver Surfer and Galactus make their way into that comic universe.  After all, the Avengers are about taking on monumental threats.  Silver Surfer and Galactus represent the kind of threat that the Avengers are about.

I hope they can do better than Galactus than having him be a purple cloud like in the FF movie.

There are programs that will bid at the last second.  It's called sniping and it works very well.

Other Collectibles / Re: Knight Models Star Wars Miniatures

Updates on their site today would indicate that Knight Models seem to have dropped the license.  Good run while it lasted, wish it could have got more out of though.

The Prequel Trilogy / Re: Why would Lars take in baby Luke?
« on: June 30, 2012, 10:46 AM »
Those are good points jedijman. It also makes me wonder why they didn't change Luke's name to something completely different. I know they probably couldn't legally adopt Luke without Imperial social workers asking questions. But here is a Skywalker on Tatooine. Maybe Skywalker is a common name like Smith?

I was thinking the other day about this.  Tatooine is very backwater, with not much going on.  Anakin Skywalker the only human to win a podrace would be pretty famous.  Famous enough that a speed freak kid like Luke with the same name would at least have passing knowledge of.  It would have been one thing if Anakin was a great race pilot but not a lot of people knew about it, but no there were thousands of spectators at the Boonta Eve Classic which he won.

Why didn't Obiwan just raise the baby by himself or at least setup an agreement to train Luke as he grew up?

Good point.  It would have made a lot more sense for Obi to raise Luke as his padawan seeing as how young the Jedi take children away to train.

Collect All 92! / Re: Biker Scout

This was my first army builder as a kid.  I had three of these dudes, but only ever had one Snowie and one Stormie.  I even had 3 bikes too.

Well FFG finally are talking like they will actually get the X-Wing game out this summer, which is good because for the longest time they weren't saying anything when the 1st quarter came and went.  They are also planning four single ship expansions (Y-Wing, X-Wing, Tie and Tie Advanced) for this fall at $15 a pop.  This is going to be a unnecessarily pricey game.  I hope it is decent.

Pretty cool set up.  I love Shipwreck up on top doing some maintenance.  I guess he's used to working on humungous toys, having been stationed on the USS Flagg for the last 25 years.  :P

TV-9D9 / Re: Star Wars on Spike TV
« on: April 2, 2012, 12:07 PM »
I've said this a million times before so probably have posted it here too, but I was watching some ANH, Empire and Return this weekend on Spike and I ask again "When will they make the drug/machine/whatever that allows you to temporarily lose a certain memory for a short period of time?"

I want to hear "I'm your father" or see Vader grab the Emperor, etc. for the "first" time again.

Hell, I'd like love to erase the entire prequel trilogy from my memory permanently.

Kubricks / Re: Deluxe Series 4 - Death Star
« on: March 24, 2012, 03:06 PM »
Cool, nice detail on the TIE pilot...didn't notice those differences. What is that Death Star display from? Is that vintage?

Yep.  That is the Death Star Space Station with the trash compactor pulled out.  I'd know it anywhere, I have three (at one time I was trying to make a complete pie of them :P).  It's great for displays.

Love the variant shots!

1:6 Scale Figures and Collectibles / Re: 12" IG-88? Oh my.
« on: February 26, 2012, 04:18 PM »
Got mine a couple of weeks ago.  Definitely everything I hoped it would be.  Previous headsculpt issue was only on the prototype.  My PotJ IG is off to spend retirement in the Barbie house.

The mystique of this piece delivers where the vintage one promised 30 years ago but never could meet the expectations  of the modern collector.
