The Vintage Collection / Re: Wal-Mart ARC Commander Havoc

But I really do love that Yoda -- so glad he isn't wearing that sand colored robe. I don't want an update, but that is my go to Clone Wars Yoda for sure!

Or how about just new Clone Wars non-clone figures in general? There are so many more important CW figures we could use in realistic style. Four of my favorites have been in the last few posts.

non-clone Clone Wars figures? Next you're going to want non-Mandalorians from The Mandalorian!

Well of the Souls / Re: Hasbro 2023 Indiana Jones Line Announced
« on: October 2, 2022, 03:53 PM »
I am guardedly optimistic that the mention of "new figures" for the Retro line means we might get Temple of Doom and Last Crusade figures to go with the Raiders ones. I loved that line as a kid.

Not so happy about a 14.99 price tag for Retro figures, though. It's like the base price goes up a dollar every month...

The Vintage Collection / Re: 2023 TVC Endor Bunker Playset
« on: October 1, 2022, 07:42 PM »
I'm curious to see how they do this.  All judgement is reserved until I see something mocked up.

I think it is very telling that the image of the Bunker they used is a strange angled view showing mirroring sides...

...almost like they will build it in such a way that you would need two or more to have a set that feels complete. I know that sounds crazy and has no precedent, but I had to say it.

Kenner Retro Collection / Re: 3rd Party Kenner Retro-Style Toys

The Fans Strike Back posted new information on your long-delayed Bantha, Rob. This is getting even more convoluted:

Quote

-NEW! Bantha 2.0:  The factory commissioned to produce the first run of Banthas were not able to produce them in a satisfactory timeframe, and in the manner agreed upon by both companies.

**sidenote: one of the advantages of casting the Bantha the way we did (resin plastic vs. PLA plastic), in addition to giving the Bantha the long-term strength that Kevin wanted…was that we controlled the moulds. Had we gone the other route, the moulds would be non-transferrable, retained by the factory, and their property. This is industry standard for China, USA, everywhere…**

So, we have taken the moulds to a new company that will be filling the remaining orders. Also, we have maximized the transition time by working with Kevin on an updated Bantha that will be our ultimate and final version, that we are calling Bantha 2.0! Features include:

-dual-spring trapdoor
-redesigned saddle latch
-redesigned leg hinge system
-enhanced sculpt details
-more Bantha-accurate black color eye (pupil) detail
-pads on bottom of feet now textured instead of smooth
-misc inner and outer Bantha body/shell improvements

(see pics for some of the updates) Please keep in mind these are pre-production photos, and we will post additional images from the factory as production goes. The trapdoor will have 2 springs (instead of the original 1 on the Dewback) for added long term quality. The saddle latch will also now mimic the Dewback with an easy to use loop, and the metal pin is no longer needed. The legs will now be on a tighter “hinge” system, that was designed into the mould to eliminate even intentional wobbliness and instability. You will no longer be able to recreate these issues even if you tried to. For added Bantha realism, the eye pupil will now be colored black. All of these and more have been painstakingly added to ensure the Bantha is the best it’s ever been.

So how do you get the new one? Everyone who has yet to receive their Bantha will automatically be getting the new version, (loose or boxed) at no additional cost. Even if you purchased at the reduced price, or took the customer loyalty reward, you will still get the new Bantha. Also because the Bantha replacement program was so infrequently used (98% have opted against it—showing the true value of the Bantha), we are phasing out that option. Additionally, when extra Banthas become available for general sale, we will be going back to the original prices.

Also please note——-we have perfect record of where the shipping que stands, and NO ONE will lose their place in line.

In closing, Kevin (Bantha creator) is THRILLED to be able to offer this new Bantha to everyone, and we share his sentiments. We cant wait to get them out to everyone.

Well the boxed collectors don't get to see their figures anymore, but at least that art on the front of the box is incredible. Look at that little Grogu pose!

TV-9D9 / Re: Andor (Disney+)

Hot take: Andor is the Star Wars content I have been waiting for since I saw the Lord of the Rings films and realized we could lean into the more grown-up side of these franchises.

I am so happy after these first 3 episodes. More in depth later, once we are past the spoiler buffer.

They are glued on. But they look to my eye like they are sculpted in their holsters. I am happy to leave him as is.

Someone pointed out that it is also a lot to ask Marvel fans to shell out all the dough for this while they are still diddling around with Galactus. Getting a little irked there have not been more updates about this lately, or ever really.

And not just Galactus, as HasLab in general still has not shipped him, the proton pack, the Skystriker,  Victory Saber, or the HISS tank (obviously.)

If you are all in on HasLabs, you'd push over 2k in as-yet unrealized product by backing this new one. That is a chunk of change.

Other Toy Lines / Re: ReAction Lines
« on: September 10, 2022, 07:16 PM »
I was in a Books-A-Million store for the first time in a very long time this week, and saw a buunch of ReAction figures marked down to $10. The one that really caught my eye was Maria from Metropolis. I bought it and was surprised to see it rang up as $5 instead.

So that stuck in my head all week, and I decided to go back and grab a few more figures at that price. I got some Aliens figures, some Transformers, and some GI Joes all for $5 each. They also had some Robotech and Thundercats figures for those prices, and Pennywise the Clown, but those lines don't really move me.

I might have overdone it, but I know I'll never see those kind of prices at retail again. And now I realize I will have to fill some holes in my new collections with regular priced figures, but I can justify it as it evens out with the clearanced ones.

The Vintage Collection / Re: 2022 TVC Deluxe TBOBF Boba Fett (Tatooine)
« on: September 10, 2022, 07:06 PM »
I saw this figure at FYE in the mall today, they had one hanging on a peg in there little Star Wars section, not with the other main section of action figures.

They wanted $45.99 for it.  :-X

Down the street at a little collector store I had neve been to before, they had three of them on the shelf, for just $27.99.

I am still holding out for a better price, but I think if I run into the Morak Fett at Target I might bite just to have a Mando version of him, but even that price is making me leery, especially after Koska, Mayfeld, BS Galen, BS Saw and BS Merrick all just hit clearance prices.

I just watched it, so it is still there.

The bulk of it was the same thing they played with Rogue One in the IMAX release a few weeks ago, but the trailer bit at the end was different (at the theater it was the regular release trailer that played after the extended clip.) Also there seemed to be more to the interview with Tony and Diego in this version.

So excited for grown-up Star Wars!

The Vintage Collection / Re: Shipping Experiences?
« on: September 9, 2022, 04:38 PM »
I get a lot of shipping supplies from Amazon, and it is probably a couple shipments a week. So same boat as you.

That being said, I have had packages go missing and get marked undeliverable twice in the past 3 years. One was just envelopes, the other had an aerosol spray can in it. Both were replaced with no problem, too.

The Vintage Collection / Re: 2022 TVC Wave 4 (New TVC Wave 25)
« on: September 7, 2022, 01:25 PM »
I've had a couple of days to open and check out some of the figures from this wave.  WOW!  The sculpts, articulation and paint apps are really, really good on every figure in this wave.  Some quick notes?

FIGRIN D'AN -
I think some of the really good things that are happening with this figure are with the arm and leg joints.  The arms and wrists are so well articulated that you can get the instruments positioned in something like an actual playing position.  And the leg articulation is good too.  It takes some maneuvering, but you can get the figure in a decent sitting position that will be functional when the other band members are released.  Plus the mouthpieces for the instruments actually fit in the mouth!

It is worth noting that the legs are rehashed from the Rogue One Imperial Gunner figure. The telltale is the inaccurate pockets on the pants.
