The set, the lighting are AMAZING!

The torture table is friggin' SWEET!  Wow, amazing!!!!

My ONLY minor gripe with the droid is his base...again, he just doesn't look very "mobile".  I can't see any visible means of locomotion, which makes it seem like Rykrof could just hide in the corner and be safe.

but, seriously, this is a GREAT preview!  Can't wait to see the next chapter (oops - that reminds me, still have to finish my comments for #18!)

WOW!  AWESOME!  LOVED IT!

More later, must run!

Chewie, I LOVE the custom astromech!  What a GREAT look!  Terrific job.

The ITK droid is also imaginative and original.  I love that, too.

However, that droid doesnt' exactly scream "Interrogate, Torture, Kill."

Here's why (IMHO) - He's very big and doesn't look, well, especially mobile.  It looks like the kind of droid you'd be perfectly safe from unless you're literally standing right next to him.

Granted, if you're a prisoner, you probably don't have a lot of mobility.  Still, he looks too easy to dodge and get away from.

Give this guy more arms.  LOTS of arms.  Spindly and long and sinister looking.

At present, he looks a little industrial to me.

Still, excellent work!

GREAT bunker!  The weathering is fantastic!  This will look terrific in one of your stories, I'm sure.

An excellent addition to the custom of the month...

Star Wars Action Figures / Re: New Customs by the Findswoman

Hey, I never commented on the Gand, which looks FANTASTIC!  What a very imaginative design from the undisputed mistress of the Gands!

And I also like the blue snaggletooth.  I agree with others that the paint job is great.  Minor criticism - the head seems a tad too big for his thin frame.  And I always though that Zutmore head was one ugly s.o.b.

Despite my earlier criticism about the arms not fitting, my favorite is probably the nightgown padme.  She looked great in the film and you did a great job creating her.

A terrific batch of figures!

Excellent work, DD!

You always make amazing droids!  I LOVE the "assassin droid" - those Sith probes make sinister looking heads!  Excellent job.

Love the "service droid", too.  Great design, I can see this pathetic creaky bastard moaning and complaining through hours and hours of mindless work.

Great repaints with the Gonk and Durge.

And the clones look absolutely flawless.  Wonderful painting job and the "Galactic Marine" is a read stand-out, it looks damn professional (well, better, actually).

A truly first rate batch.  Wonderful to see you so busy!  Tremendous work all around.

Chewie,

I must admit, I liked Quinlan's old hair.  Sorry!  The new version seems just a little too "big".  He almost looks like Kit Fisto with a head full of tentacles.

I'm sorry, I know you worked your butt off on this and were frustrated - I hope these criticisms don't add to your frustrations.  I thought the first version was an excellent, excellent custom.  This one is just one "excellent".  :)

And I REALLY like the "Outer Rim Pilot".  Hee hee hee.... ;)

Just a few quick reactions:

Like the new Rykrof.  Another cool design with cool gear.

Don't really like new Fuuda.  It looks just like a Bib head on a clone body, which it is.  Usually your customs have more variety in their parts and aren't as "recognizable" as this one is.  And, alas, I just don't like the "open mouth" sculpt.  Not your fault, obviously, but this flaw kept me from buyin the new figure, though I was on the fence.

LOVE the Gonk!

Lethiss is cool, but not, in my opinion, your best Mandalorian custom.

Anyway, keep up the great work!!!

Unfortunately, gang, the days of the speedy updates have come a close...at least for now.

A couple weeks ago, I recreated the Sewers/laboratory set and took a bunch of extra pictures so I could crank out updates.  Since all that was happened were conversations, I shot many, many extra pics of the characters in various poses and formations.

But, due to computer issues, I lost the rest of the "raw footage", so I will have to go back to the drawing board for the next updates, which may take a little while.

Thanks so much for the wonderful level of participation!  and Happy New Year!

we'll be back....

Chewie,

Your Tonnika sisters are GREAT and I friggin' LOVE the modular urban diorama.

You did amazing things with this beauty in your photonovel.  The design is incredibly innovative, allowing for countless variations.  It looks terrific!  Well done!  I'd love to try to create some kind of multi-purpose units like this.  Amazing job.

Awesome preview pic, Fritz!  Very nice Imperial custom.

I plan to continue the interactive story.  I also have many, many ideas for new photonovels and one or two old stories I started long ago that I hope to revisit.

Realistically, if I manage to get even one or two of these done, I'll consider it a huge accomplishment.

thanks Lance. i stick with my suggestion before where i had Fang piecing it together that the bounty hunter was Boba Fett. we didn't suggest to him it was Fett, we just gave the description to the best of our ability and he comes up with Fett as the mystery bounty hunters identity.

And it was a good suggestion, jedistyle, but remember - Fang's assumptions are his to make.  All you can do is tell him what you saw.  How he reacts to it is entirely out of your control!  So whether he thinks it's Boba Fett or someone else - you'll just have to wait and see.  ;)

Okay, team, Findswoman brings up an important issue regarding characters, action figures and who is really supposed to be who.

Way back when the game began, I wrote something explaining that, due to my very limited customizing abilities and budget, I might occasionally use a recognizable SW character meant to be a different character.

The only real instance where I did this was in the opening sequence, showing Deak's mother, "played" by Mon Mothma.

I believe I also said that, with a few exceptions, that you would probably NOT run into a lot of established characters.

So I can see where the confusion is coming from.

Here's the deal - I really don't have a large customizing budget and my skills are extremely limited, basically just head swapping and extremely rudimentary painting.

HOWEVER, look again at Mon Mothma.  She is not wearing her trademark outer garment and instead is wearing a crappy Leia "skirt".  As lame as it is, this is my cheap-o attempt to at least partially customize the figure in order to establish that it is NOT the same character.

Look at the Bith in the bar.  He is wearing a cloak different than the one the figure comes with.  Hardly a very elaborate custom, certainly, but it at least hopefully establishes him as being "different" from the Cantina band members.

Here's where it gets tricky, though.  In the case of extremely minor or "extra" characters - characters who had no real significance in the films other than as background, I may not bother with ANY customizing at all.

It is safe to assume that Doc's wookiee friend is NOT, for example, Senator Yarua, but is, in fact, Doc's wookiee friend named Fardle.  Also, the twilek damsel in distress at the bar is probably not the same Aya Vida barfly from AOTC, but just another twi'lek female.

To avoid confusion, you will never see me using an unmodified Han Solo or Ben Kenobi action figure meant to represent anyone else.  I will never use unmodified, major character figures to represent different characters.

So, if, for example, you see a human smuggler with a black vest and white shirt accompanied by a large Wookiee with an ammo belt - it's safe to say you're looking at Han and Chewie, even though "Deak" won't recognize them.

In the case of the mysterious "bounty hunter", I made an effort to make the scene and the character feel, well, rather familiar.  Note his use of the phrase "As you wish," which, admittedly, is not something I came up with on my own.  :)

Additionally, though I am not really up on EU, it was my understanding that there really weren't many other Mandalorians around the time of the OT.

However, at the end of the day, that isn't really relevant to how you play out the scene.  Your confusion over the identity of the bounty hunter echoes Deak's.  It won't affect what you say to Fang, since all you can do is describe the guy and let Fang come up with his own conclusions.

Hope this helps!  Though I'm lazy when it comes to customizing, I'm not out to deliberately confuse you guys.

Thanks for your fantastic participation!!!

Photonovels and Movies / INTERACTIVE update 12/29!!
« on: December 30, 2005, 01:28 AM »
Hey, gang, time for a new update!

I know these dialogue scenes are probably getting tedious for you guys, but we're getting near to the end!

Most everyone was on the same page here with the "angry" approach, originally suggested by In Rem and echoed by Clone Commander 1, Flacksguy, Longhorn, Chewie and Findswoman.

I tried to use at least a little dialogue from all those who posted some - In Rem, Chewie, Findswoman

Alas, only jedi style with his suicida- uh, "aggressive" suggestion was voted down by the rest.  However, his coinage of the phrase "gutter-punk section of the station" was too cool to pass up.

I would like to remind you all that, since it was well over six months ago that the scene with Deak and the Imperials at his uncle's quarters was played out, that the entire story can be viewed by visiting the earlier pages in this thread.  It couldn't hurt to take a quick peek to refresh your memory.

Alternatively, most of the story (excepting the most recent chapters in the Sewers) is archived on my website HERE

And a special thanks to our newest player, Clone Hunter.  His suggestion about contacting Callie is a good one, but wouldn't be quite appropriate just yet, since the trio has not yet agreed to go with you.  If you want to re-suggest that idea next time around, please feel free.

Anyway, on with the show!
