Nice job man!  I haven't been brave enough to tackle Cody yet, so my hat is off to you sir.

Customizing Tips and Tricks / Re: Help! I need to remove stains!
« on: September 16, 2005, 01:17 PM »
I know when I've gotten ink or marker stains on clothes, hairspray helps dull the stain.

Maybe try soaking a crappy figure or two in hairspray or Windex.  The ammonia in Windex is very good at stain removal.

I like it.  Very nice work, except my dirty little mind looks at that big antenna on his right shoulder and sees phallus.  But that's probably just me.

Even though I've made my own, and plan on doing another (after I get the DVD), I'll buy a few of him just 'cuz I'm clone crazy.  I believe it stems from me never getting any stormtroopers as a kid, but always wanting/asking for one.

Yeah, I'll get a few of him and Bly, and as many 501st as I can get my grubs on.  I just can't get that blue looking right :-[

Please pardon my blasphemous ignorance and laziness (too lazy to look it up) --  But what the nuts is Blue Harvest?  It sounds like a brand name for cheese.   :P

I've started painting mine.  Hopefully by week's end he'll be done.  This will be my first custom where I've sculpted anything, and damn is it challenging!

Customizing Tips and Tricks / Re: How to match paint color?
« on: September 13, 2005, 01:24 PM »
What he said.  ^^^^^

You should also buy a bunch of "buddy  cups" to store your paint mixtures in.  I started out with the smaller ones, but now I buy the ones that are about 1.5 inches tall x 1 inch in diameter.  With the bigger ones, make large amounts of colors that you will use frequently, and use the smaller cups to store mixtures that you will only use on a few figures.

I found them at Michael's, and Ben Franklin Crafts, but they're at just about any craft store.

I like I like.  Did you use acrylic paint or enamels?

That's awesome, thanks for spending the time to do that.  Nice work, and welcome!

K, I agree DD, let's have red5sixx auction the figures, since he probably gets tons of page views.

I think the Sept. 30th deadline should be for having the figure in yours or your friend's hands.  That way he can list it and get it done by October 2nd. Then the proceeds could go to the beneficiaries as fast as possible.  I can ship my clone by the 18th to wherever, so send me a PM.  If we could expedite things by just donating figures already made, that might be better.  That way, the beneficiaries could get the help faster.

Jokabofe has a point:  If ebay has indeed terminated charity auctions for possible fraudulent causes, we need to cover our bases.  We would need to get all applicable info for the recipient(s) and call ebay to let them know a) we're auctioning stuff for charity, and b) whom exactly it goes to.  Maybe they have a standard process for handling such things.  Jokabofe, will you be the point-man on this?  I know Ennis is a beneficiary, but is there anybody else this is for?  We'd need their contact info, Paypal email, physical address (or PO if they can't get home), etc.

Of course Red5sixx would keep a portion of the money to cover expenses, etc., as previously mentioned.

Concur with all, none, or some of the proposal?  Let's get this figured out ASAP for obvious reasons.

Customizing Tips and Tricks / Re: Custom Clones - Clean or Dirty?
« on: September 11, 2005, 01:55 AM »
It can be overdone, but like everyone else says, it's near impossible to judge until the figure's complete.

I like how they look weathered, but sometimes I like to make a clean 1 or 2, just to see the straight lines I worked so hard to get.  But overall, weathered is better, IMO.

I'll donate my Aqua Clone, if you think it'll sell.

I think we should send the customs for donation to DD, since I'm sure he's got a lot of Ebayers that check to see what he sells.

DD, if that's cool with you, pm me your address and I'll ship it asap.

Holy Testicle Tuesday!  That's one mean-looking mofo.  Looks like he's been in a few heavy firefights.  I like, I like.

Great job on all.  I especially like the boots and clothes on your jedi.  His boots look scaley and cracked, like they're well-worn rancor skin.

Way to look Bail look more regal as well.

Now the mechanic looks like he's been "down and dirty" in the pit - as usual a first-rate paint job.  What kind of figure and head is that?
