Anyone else hear the theme from Jeff Wayne's "War of the Worlds" here?

Ratatouille - one of the better movies this year that no one is going to see...

It was a rather good picture. I enjoyed it, at least (though, I suppose, I am somewhat taken with Pixar. They've really yet to disappoint me, Finding Nemo aside.)

Oh! The other films ...

Evan Almighty: An Environmental-Trotskyist front! Amusing at times, but the not-so-subtle political undertones and assertions really killed it for me.  :-X

That David Pearl Movie Which I've Forgotten The Name Of: I enjoyed the secondary and tertiary characters much more so than Jolie and whomsoever portrayed Mr Pearl. I thought that it lacked shot continuity, but am guessing that was purposeful. Not so bad, but a little too long. If'n you're into journalism, current events, or an indictment of General Mushareff's increasingly pre-'79-Iran-looking Pakistan, then you mayhaps should consider viewing it.

Beyond the Valley of the Dolls: Amazing and uproarious.

To beat a seemingly dead horse here...

Soviets! Soviets! Soviets! We need some frakking Soviets! And Poles, Frenchmen, Chinese partisans (Nationalist *and* Communist), Australiasians, and Britts too! We really need some other forces involved in all of this.

(God, I hope that was succinct.  :P)

Honestly, though, that is probably the best thing I've ever read on the internet. Illbegotten, inane anti-Corporatist notions combined with truly disturbing glances into a precarious emotional state. Brilliant! This is why I love Freedom of Expression.

Its pretty good, but not nearly as good as this.

Ah-ha-ha, wow! Yeah, I had forgotten about that.

Jedijaybird, do you happen to have a link?

You know... this will be my last strenuous post for tonight. What the [censored] can we do, you know? We are just oppressed, little people who can't do [censored] about anything. We have basically given hasbro our lives. We have poured our hearts into their company. Their families and their joy come at the expense of our suffering. Yet, the world is [censored] greedy. That's just how it is. Collectors getting sucked dry is just a grain of sand in what is known as reality. The world is a [censored] up place. No one gives a [censored] about each other. What is all of this complaining going to do? You know what? I would [censored] throw chairs during a hasbro presentation if I knew that my fellow collector base would back me up and say what hasbro has been doing is absolute [censored]. I hate it. I really hate it. This hobby really isn't for me. I don't want to be a sucker anymore. I want to give up my addiction. Not because of Star Wars though, it's because of the pieces of filth known as hasbro. They have never made me feel welcome. They have never shown one inkling of care or respect for me. They haven't cried or gave a damn about how I felt. How can I continue supporting something I knew was going to take advantage of me from the beginning? I am ashamed of myself now actually. And I have decided that I am going to quit collecting after the 30th Anniversary Collection. I hate hasbro with all of my heart because they have wounded me personally so much. But hasbro isn't the only selfish and greedy company out there. This world is filled with horrible [censored]. [censored] we can't even begin to imagine. I'm hoping one day the people will finally stop allowing themselves be stepped on, be brave and unite to overthrow the scum of the world.

You see? This is the kind of **** which makes me contemplate whether or not a Eugenics Programme might well be worth swallowing the moral pill attendant to it!  :P

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: 2008 Rumors!
« on: June 27, 2007, 01:19 AM »
Why not just re-adopt the OTC-style cardbacks for the 2008 line? That way, we can forget about the silly VOTC line (I've never taken to calling it VTSC, VTAC, etc). The clamshell is a waste of resources, and the $10-12 pricepoint is hard to conscience for figures which really aren't any different than those available in basic.

So, yeah. VOTC really isn't as viable or attractive as it once was, for me at least. Did we need Bossk? Do we need an Ugnaught? Do we need Jango Fett? Yes- but they should've/should be in the basic line.

(Quietly acknowledges the fact that, sure enough, we may well be facing a $10-12 pricepoint in the not-so-distant future for basic figures... quality downgrades notwithstanding)

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: EE Mandalorian 14 Pack
« on: June 25, 2007, 09:59 PM »

::)

There had better be something other than yet more Phase II Clones included for me to consider ordering this pack.

After the Death Star Briefing, I had rather high hopes for this set. However, now, I am dubious. What do the clones have to do with any of it anyway? The Mandos and the Republican Military weren't exactely buddy-buddy.

Well, they're the only "phase II"/ROTS clones in these sets.   I think the next reveal will probably blow you away.   ("Probably" being key as well, different figures appeal to different fans.  I think this is an appealing one.)

Regarding Mandalorians/Llats Ward and the clones, please read this entry at Wookieepedia for the backstory of why a Mandalorian might be training Clones.  (Assuming you haven't seen it yet.)   Also, this page at Entertainment Earth has a big picture and a smidge more back story.   Some people take jobs they don't necessarily want to do, and it seems on some level, Mandalorian Llats Ward training Clones could be one of those jobs, from a certain point of view.

Fair enough. I've not really been keeping up with the contemporary Expanded Universe, so there you have it.

Thanks to DSM for the reply, also.  :)

I've yet to see a single Concept Figure at retail. I am want for the Power of the Jedi days, when there wasn't as much competition for the stuff on the pegs. Woe!  :'(

I for one am a great fan of both Episode I and the figure line, therefore this is an incredibly exciting revealation to me.

Yeah I've heard maneuvering around all the other days wasn't bad, so maybe these #'s are a tad skewed if it was only Saturday.  EVERY day was packed at C3.

Either way I would settle for a move to Vegas if that's what it took.  Cheap flights, cheap hotels, easy to get around, actual stuff to do around the con centers there, and it's much more "open" to everyone in the country, not just West Coasters.

That or move it to Chicago.  They can accomodate that, they're centrally located, and they actually have things going on downtown there.

That would be incredibly awesome, as I am in Chicago at least 5 time per year. Grand city, that.
