The Legacy Collection / Re: Legacy Wave 8 - The Phantom Menace
« on: November 2, 2009, 02:29 PM »
Rum Slegg has to be one of the coolest background aliens from the PT - the mystery factor isnt as high as say Boba Fett, but the buzz for the figure is huge.  I've had a heck of a time trying to find him, each time I saw remnants of the wave, he was always gone - so I tried a store called Kohls and found one there - its worth checking out if anyone else cant find him as well...

I found this wave yesterday, and I'm loving Argyus and Luminara.  Eventhough Argyus is basically a retooled clone body - he turned out great, and I'd really like to see a generic Senate guard release follow this figure.  A BP would be cool, with a few Senate guards VS a few bounty hunters we havent received yet...

The figure looks great - I cant wait to order one.  I'm glad they gave him knees as well - and lets face it, this will be his only figure, so there wont be an upgraded resculpt down the road, like there has been with other Jedi that lacked knee articulation on their first run.

After watching the episode last night - I want to know where the rest of the Jedi Council is - are they always on missions while Yoda, Mace, and Obi-Wan stay at the temple?!  I'd really like to see the rest of the council in future episodes, especially Shaak Ti.  I know Ki-Adi Mundi is in an upcoming episode, and I'm really looking forward to that.

Star Wars Action Figures / Re: CUSTOM CONTEST IS HERE PLEASE READ

With only a couple weeks left, I'm really excited to see all the customs people came up with - hopefully our customs will inspire Hasbro to make the figures themselves!  ;)

I picked up the Mist Hunter at WM - I'm surprised, but happy that these are still filtering through to retail, the line is dying slowly at a lot of stores, the Target and WM that are closest to me dont even carry them anymore!

The Legacy Collection / Re: Toyfare 2009 Fan's Choice Voting
« on: October 17, 2009, 06:23 PM »
I'm a real fan of Jedi characters, especially females that havent been made (or need serious upgrades) - so I was hoping for Barriss Offee, but based on a Hasbro Q&A, she'll likely be released next year in a second wave of Geonosis packs. Jocasta Nu would likely not be made unless she won a vote like this, so I went with her.   ;)

Well, a very important part of my Sim Aloo custom arrived last week, so he's currently in progress! 8)

I'm looking forward to seeing how your Sim Aloo turns out - he's definately a figure I want Hasbro to get to.  Its too bad Ackmena didnt make the top 30 list!  :P

Obscure characters, especially aliens, are what keep the Legacy line fresh - even Hasbro admits this, and its what keeps collectors coming back.  But once we have definitive sculpts of all the major characters in all their various oufits, collector interest will really fall off a cliff, unless the upcoming tv show excites collectors into buying another line.  Either way, I think the Legacy line has years left in it, so long as Hasbro makes the necessary cut backs and focuses on giving us the figures we want, as well as updating all the vintage and POTF2 sculpts.

The Legacy Collection / Re: Exclusives, exclusives, exclusives...
« on: October 7, 2009, 08:46 PM »
As someone who doesnt collect vehicles, I tend to only pick up exclusive figures (most of them), the best exclusives are figures like the TRU Ponds, that are part of a promo, rather than an overpriced figure, say at Target, for $13.  I also love the mail-away figures, because we're charged retail for them.

The exclusives I dont like are things like the droid factory sets at WM, where they are overpriced and half the figures are repacks that no one even wants.  Same goes for their upcoming exclusive comic packs which are lackluster to say the least.  The Geonosis arena sets at Target are a good alternative, lower price, and most of the figures are ones we want!  ;)

I'd like to see some exclusives kicked, like the previously mentioned ones from WM and replaced with something better - or they shouldnt bother offering them at all.

I know the Legacy & Legends lines are offered separately to retailers.  Does anyone know if retailers have to pay a different amount per figure for each of the lines?

My guess for what happens is when the Droid Factory lines dies next year, they combine the Legacy/Legends and ship fewer new figures with older popular repacks, while keeping the CW line separate.

Its a good alternative to combine Legacy and Legends and give us less new figures each year.  Ideally, once the BAD program is over, and droid parts are no longer packed with Legacy figures, Hasbro could give us 4 new figures in each wave, just like the CW line is doing now, pack 2 of each new figure per case, and add 4 legends figures to each case, which would give us a good amount on the pegs without clogging them.  The days of 8 new Legacy figures in a wave has to end.

Thats a cool list, but about 25% of the characters listed are far too random to make it to figure form.  I'm really hoping we get Ziro though, Hasbro has mentioned it might be an exclusive, so hopefully it happens - if not, toss him in the CW deluxe line by himself.

Mine arrived today too - excellent mail-away, best yet in fact.

The shouting Jedi chick from the arena battle indeed has a name, so I thought I'd update:

I really like these sets, I think they are far better than the WM DF packs, both in price, and figure selection.  I'm really happy to have the upgraded Jedi and the previously unmade Jedi survivors as well.  If Hasbro does another round next year, it would be great to get all female Jedi upgrades and/or new characters.  I agree that we need Barriss Offee, Aayla Secura, and Shaak Ti - all upgraded - along with that screaming Jedi chick, whatever her name is, lol.  I also wouldnt mind a battle damaged Padme - but the Jedi retool that would work great and be a huge hit is Pablo Jill.  If they can give him the treatment they gave to Coleman Trebor, it will be another successful exclusive.
