Other Collectibles / Re: Gentle Giant Statues
« on: July 6, 2007, 09:36 AM »
I don't understand the rationale behind LFL allowing two licensees to pretty much do the same product.  Now what is the difference between this Han Solo statue and the one that Sideshow did a few years back?

Actually, including the Attakus statues, that makes at least three "statue" lines out there to collect.

The Sideshow Han was a premium "figure".  Even though the articulation isn't there, the Sideshow premium format "figures" have real cloth clothing parts and accessories, where the GG statues do not.  Not a big difference, but that is why LFL allows it.

2.  Did you say the boys got it for their birthday?  I can't believe they are a year old already!?!  Please post 1st b-day pics in the appropriate thread :)

Done.

I heard about this on NPR when it launched in the UK and loved the excerpts.  It wasn't launched in the US yet when they did the story, and the release date was months later.  I forgot about it until I saw your post - I definitely want to pick up a copy!

I had heard about it as well, but had forgotten about it too until my brother gave it to us.  It's a great read and filled full of many many cool things - war, animals, sports, and of course - danger.  :)

Well, this past weekend was the Dudes' First Birthday Spectacular.

On Saturday, we hosted the obligitory family birthday party for the extended family to celebrate.  Here are a few pics...

The boys got this one for their birthday and I haven't been able to put it down.   :D

250+ pages of all the stuff we used to do as kids before the world got "safe-crazy".  This book has got it all -
- how to build a go-cart
- how to build a trip-wire
- how to skin a rabbit
- how to play chess, poker, coin sports, etc

and much, much more.  I can't wait until the guys get a little older and we start trying some of these things out.   :D

I heard that the Sinestro Corps special released last week was pretty amazing (I thought of you Jeff), and it sounds like Green Lantern stuff might be getting pretty interesting.

Between the GL "Sinestro War" stuff, the JLA "Lightning Saga" (including the return of a certain someone to the DCU) , and the stuff going on in Flash, I have been in full DC mania mode.

My list looks like this:
- Countdown
- Batman
- Detective Comics
- Nightwing
- Robin
- Flash
- Green Lantern
- Green Lantern Corps
- JLA

upcoming:
- All New Booster Gold
- JLA GreenArrow/Black Canary Wedding Special Stuff

I'm loving Johns work on GL -

SPOILERS

The Sinestro book was fantastic.  I can't wait for this thing to kick into high gear - the worst five villians in GL/DC history uniting to do battle with the entire 7200 member GLC?  *drool*  It was crazy to see the Anti-Monitor again...

And Flash?  Don't even get me started on Flash #13, poor Bart Allen, and the return of the Wests!   ;D

I'm also digging Countdown, though it seems to be a bit slower paced than 52 was...

Interesting start to FA things today...

- The Wild kept Skoula and Koivu, which are decent deals I guess, and we dumped Manny's contract for a prospect and a draft pick.  Not really excited about that, but if they use the $$ they would have paid Manny to get us a decent FA, then I'll care.

- It must royally suck to be a Sabres fan tonight.  It sounds like they lost both Drury (NYR) and Briere (Phi).

- Man Philly is shaping up nicely - decent Goalie in Biron, then adding Briere, Jason Smith, Joffrey Lupul, all along with the Preds they scooped up earlier.

- Man, sounds like the NYR are re-loading as well.  Drury and Jagr should pair well together, and Gomez is a nice steal from a division rival.

Kubricks / Re: Series 9
« on: June 30, 2007, 09:53 PM »
Was there any info on release dates for 8-9?

I saw instinctoy was saying October on his blog for S8 and then next spring for S9. (Feb?)  No confirmation on that though...

And now that I think about it, where is Mace?

Chase figure perhaps?  Or maybe they are saving him for a possible Series 10 - RotS?  :D
