The Vintage Collection / Re: 2019 TVC Poe Dameron's X-Wing Fighter
« on: September 27, 2019, 12:39 PM »
Of all the new TVC vehicles, this one has me excited the most.  Itís a completely new vehicle and has a flashy paint job.  Personally, I wish it was Poeís black X-Wing, but I could see that being a repaint down the road.

The Vintage Collection / Re: 2019 TVC Luke Skywalker's X-Wing Fighter
« on: September 27, 2019, 12:36 PM »

I have too many of these dang things (1995 POTF2 Luke, 2002 Saga Luke, 2004 Red Leader, 2006 Dagobah, 2009 TLC Wedge, 2013 TVC Biggs) but like a dummy I will probably buy this $100 version because I am a hopeless romantic for OT vehicles.  :D

Thatís my position exactly...  Iíve got the 2002 Saga Luke, 2006 Dagobah Luke, 2009 TLC Wedge, and 2013 TVC Biggs X-Wings as well, but Iíll probably pick up the Luke X-Wing if I see it just so I have the highly detailed version to go with the Biggs ship.

I like the paint scheme on that AT-ST Raider ;D Hopefully they will use a harder plastic than the last Vintage Collection AT-ST...  But this will be something to hunt down for sure!

Very cool 8)

Really nice to see a completely new ship from TVC, particularly one from the new films.  This will definitely be on my want list...  Is this supposed to come out on ďTriple Force FridayĒ?

Other Toy Lines / Re: JoyToy 1/18 Figures
« on: September 14, 2019, 01:33 PM »
I just picked up a couple sets of the Joy Toy USMC figures and they are awesome  8)  They came well packaged in individual plastic cases and each figure included a lot of accessories that were largely standardized - e.g. each figure came with a pistol, holster, ammo bag, utility belt, combat vest or backpack/vest combo, rifle, and a spare set of forearms for sleeve up or sleeves down options. The hats and helmets arenít removable, but look good. The 5-figure set came with a 6th box that had extra accessories including additional rifles, extra hand pieces with different finger positions, and spare joint pieces.  The figures are super-articulated and can actually hold their weapons in realistic positions. A lot of the joints are simple ball-and-socket types that can easily be separated to attach accessories (really a nice feature for figure construction!). These figures will have excellent custom potential.  Overall, Iím very happy with the new Joy Toy military figures and will likely get a lot more of them as they are released.

Other Toy Lines / Re: Aliens: Colonial Marines - by Hiya Toy
« on: September 13, 2019, 11:55 AM »
Bringing up an older topic, but I recently purchased the Hiya Colonial Marines APC model via Amazon Prime and itís really quite incredible 8)

The model really is a gem with accurate detailing throughout and a lot of working features.  Mine came with a ďBellaĒ action figure and that hasnít broken on me yet...  I guess my only gripe is that the top gun turret on my model is a tad loose, and while it could easily be fixed by tightening the screw that holds it to its baseplate, the screw is near-impossible to reach without removing the slide-rails that hold it in place.

I also wish there were more Colonial Marines figures that were easily available and affordable other than just Cruz, Bella, and Redding.  (I missed out on Hicks & Hudson and canít justify nearly $100 for an action figure!)

I placed my order for the Palpatine figure on April 24 via Amazon and the site currently says itís arriving by October 9.  I had actually forgotten Iíd ordered the item until this thread popped back up :P

Iíd dig it if JJ Abrams pulled a plot twist in this film with Rey getting seduced by the dark side and Kylo turning to the light...  It would certainly PO a bunch of fans  >:D

The Vintage Collection / Re: What Would Be "The End" For You?
« on: August 23, 2019, 01:43 PM »
Iíve technically been collecting the 3 3/4Ē scale Star Wars figures and vehicles since the tail end of the original vintage toy line in the mid-1980s, though the bulk of my collecting has dated from the Galoob Action Fleet and Kenner/Hasbro POTF days in the late 1990s and peaked in the 2010s with the Legacy and ďVintageĒ collections.  Since the mid 2010s and the Disney takeover of Lucasfilm, I havenít collected as much of the 3 3/4Ē scale as outside of the new Vintage collection, the quality just isn't where it was a decade and more ago. I still try to get some of the main figures and ships for the new movies, but Iím not sure where things will go after the upcoming ďRise of SkywalkerĒ film, at least as my 3 3/4Ē collection is concerned.  If the Vintage line continues and keeps offering the highly detailed vehicles (like the Imperial Assault Tank) then Iíll continue in that scale...

However, Iíve never been an exclusive collector, meaning I typically donít collect just one line or scale of figures in a genera like Star Wars. Case in point is my large collection of the 6Ē Black Series figures.  Iíve really enjoyed this line since it came out in 2013 and typically try to get figures of the main characters for each film, legacy characters, vehicles, or other items that catch my interest.  Iíd like to see the 6Ē Black Series Line continue for a while and add more star fighters and other vehicles.  The line seems to sell well for the most part and has a lot of potential...

Lastly, there is another part of me that wonders how long Star Wars can continue in popularity? Already there are signs that the general public is starting to tire of Star Wars... As a kid, I remember when the craze over the original movies died out and Iím quite frankly surprised things have kept going as long as they have.  We have basically had available a steady stream of action figure, ships, and tons of other Star Wars merchandise since the mid 1990s, which is really incredible! Iím just curious as to how long all this will go on - and if Iím going to need a larger house to hold it all :P

Galaxy of Adventures / Re: Triple Force Friday - October 4th
« on: August 21, 2019, 01:18 PM »
Keeping the thread alive, but has there been any news or previews of what to expect for the new movie toys and collectibles (apart from the 6Ē Sith Trooper)?  I would think weíd have heard a little more by this point, but it seems everything has been pretty tight-lipped about this film so far...

1:6 Scale Figures and Collectibles / Re: Barbie Star Wars dolls

I canít believe Iím saying this - and have not the slightest intention of getting one - but that ďDarth VaderĒ Barbie looks pretty cool  8)

I found the complete Wave 2 of the Black Series Archive figures at a local Walmart yesterday for the standard $20 price. I had already ordered and received this wave from Entertainment Earth a month ago, but picked up an extra Darth Maul and Anakin figure to open...  I remember passing up the original Darth Maul figure back in 2013 for some reason and never found the original Anakin figure, so it was nice to finally add those to my collection  :)

88
I had preordered the Chopper and Ezra figures from Entertainment Earth which were then backordered for a while.  On Wednesday, I got a message from EE saying that the order was cancelled as the manufacturer had unexpectedly run out of stock of those figures for some reason. Frustrated a little, I ordered an Ezra and Chopper figure off eBay, where there seemed to be plenty of the figures for under $25 (which I consider reasonable).  Then while on a work-related road trip on Thursday, I made a quick stop by a Target store and found two Chopper figures!

89
I didnít order this wave from Hasbro Pulse and instead went with Entertainment Earth.  I received my order a couple weeks ago.

Darn, Iím embarrassed  :-[
I thought something seemed a tad off with it...
