Other Toy Lines / Acid Rain - by Ori Toy
« on: February 20, 2014, 01:29 PM »
I was looking through the latest BBTS newsletter and I saw these - Acid Rain by someone called Ori Toy.

It's like a 3.75" scale figure line where they pilot/drive Mech/Transformers type vehicles.  The vehicles are expensive ($100+), but they look awesome.  Neat line, but may be too expensive for me to test out sight unseen.  :-\

Anyone have more info or have seen any of these close-up?

Originally I couldn't tell on Luke, but yeah his face is Wampa'd.  Looks good though.  Pics coming soon on Luke and the Droid.  Han and Vader will wait for SDCC (or sooner if they leak before then :P)!

BILLUND, Denmark, Jan. 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- The LEGO Group today announced that its latest quarterly review of LEGO® CUUSOO consumer inspiration platform has designated that a LEGO Ghostbusters ECTO-1 will be produced for sale under a licensing agreement from Sony Pictures Consumer Products. The item is the sixth user-designed and submitted product to be manufactured from the LEGO CUUSOO platform after receiving the requisite 10,000 fan votes to be considered for production.

Made famous by the 1984 Ghostbusters film, the ECTO-1 was selected for production due to its broad worldwide appeal and the fact that the iconic model lends itself to challenging and creative building for both children and adult fans. The LEGO replica of ECTO-1 will include minifigures. The model is still in the final design stages and availability and pricing will be announced at a later date.

Brent Waller, a 3-D Environment Artist in the video game industry from Brisbane, Australia designed the original model, which he called Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary Concept. Consumers whose LEGO CUUSOO ideas are selected for production earn one percent of the total net sales of the product.

LEGO CUUSOO is the global crowdsourcing platform that allows consumers to submit their ideas for new LEGO products. Submissions that receive 10,000 fan votes on LEGO.cuusoo.com are then reviewed quarterly by the company and considered for production. Other LEGO CUUSOO projects that have been produced for sale include: NASA Mars Science Laboratory Curiosity Rover, the DeLorean time machine from Back to the Future, LEGO Minecraft Microworld, Hayabusa asteroid explorer and the Shinkai 6500 submarine.

(ps. can't forget to include the usual MN-homerism HOF voting rant here for Jack Morris  - '91 game seven is still the greatest game of baseball I have ever had the chance to watch.  8))

Last chance for Black Jack... and it doesn't look good. :(

Having Maddux on the ballot next year (355 Ws, 3371 Ks, 3.16 ERA) will really drive the PED point home for Clemens (354 Ws, 4672 Ks, 3.12 ERA) since Maddux is basically Clemens without the steroid revival (those extra three Cy Youngs).  I'm sure Clemens will be pissed next January when Maddux is a first ballot HOFer and he's still sitting on the couch waiting for the call.  :P

I'll guess Maddux, Glavine, Thomas, and Biggio get in today.  Maddux will lead the votes and Biggio will sneak in with a 76-77ish number.

LEGO Beats Hasbro as World’s No. 2 Toymaker

First half of the year results for the big three:
Mattel: $2.16b
LEGO: $1.84b
Hasbro: $1.43b

LEGO has been knocking on Hasbro's door for a while, looks like they finally passed them. It will be interesting to hear Hasbro's spin on this when they have their big Investor Day presentations next week...

Other Toy Lines / Tamashii Nations Robot Spirits / Robot Damashii
« on: August 29, 2013, 11:14 PM »
Is anyone else out there a Robot Spirits figure collector?

For over a year now I've been trying to resist the Tamashii Nations Robot Spirits [Side MS] Gundam Wing figures.   Well, with the lull in Hasbro 3.75" collector product, I found myself with some spare collector cash and decided to break down and get a single Robot Spirits [Side MS] figure - Gundam Wing Zero from Gundam Wing tv show.

Big, big mistake. I instantly fell in love with it.  Now I've got seven other [Side MS] figures from Gundam Wing (Epyon, Tallgeese, Altron, Sandrock, Space Leo, Ground Leo, Aries) on my desk at home and eight more pre-ordered (Heavy Arms, 2x Ground Leo w/ 1x Leo Option Kit, Noin Custom Aries, Shenlong, Mercurius/Vayeate, and the Deathscythe Hell).  Pretty much played catch-up from Jun-2012 releases to Jan-2014 pre-orders in the span of five weeks.  :-[

My extra collector cash (and then some) is officially gone, but I’m loving my new 'Japanese Robots' (as my wife calls them). Really hope they make a Taurus and/or Virgo from Gundam Wing, I’d also love a Maganac too.   I'm hoping to stay within the Gundam Wing realm on these, but I'm already tempted by the original RX-78-2 Gundam and the GM Sniper II (0080 War in the Pocket). Could find myself easily falling into the MSG/0080/0083 Stardust Memory stuff real easy...  and maybe even Zeta too.   :-\

The Black Series 3.75" / Looking Back at the Past Fan Choice Polls
« on: August 23, 2013, 04:11 PM »
Because I love checking back on Hasbro to see how much they really listen to us.  Here are the results of the past three Fan Choice Polls and the current figure tallies from each (unless I forgot about a figure  :-\).

- 2006 Toy Fare Fan Choice Poll = 23 out of 25 made into figures; 92%
- 2009 Toy Fare Fan Choice Poll = 11 out of 30 made into figures; 37%
- 2011 Hasbro Fan Choice Poll = 5 out of 20 made into figures; 25%

Hall of Justice / 2014 DC Multiverse 4" Figure Line
« on: August 15, 2013, 04:53 PM »
Thanks to Brian for reminding me to start this thread...

Anyone excited for this new line next Spring?

Just like my complaints about the DCC stuff - why the heck are they wasting time/effort on video game 4" figures before giving us nice, classic comic costumes?!? Ugh.  ::)

I have zero interest in the DCC God Among Us/Injustice 4" stuff and I have no interest in the Arkham City/Asylum Batfigures in Multiverse Wave 1.  :-\

Wave 2 looks promising though... not sure if it will be all Keaton-Batman wave or if it will be more of a classic DC movie wave with Reeves Superman too.  Guess we wait for NYCC or NYTF to see that wave...

The Black Series 3.75" / Celebration Europe II Hasbro Panel
« on: July 23, 2013, 12:08 AM »
Here we go again...  let's hope that CEII will be better for 3.75" Black Series reveals than SDCC was.

Anyway, here's the Hasbro panel details...  oh good, they'll be talking about Angry Birds again.   ::)
