I know some people aren't too crazy about these, but I'm happy to see these sets show up online again...and really hope they make it to retail here in the US.  The figures can be chucked as far as I care, but I do really like the glasses themselves.  Plus, the OTC packaging style just makes these look even spiffer (doesn't it seem to do that to everything?).  Anyways, thanks for posting Jeff, I really hope that these do see the light of day...plus, it is a pretty good character selection...even if not the best actual figure selection :).

SuperHeroHype.com has an article up today featuring a call sheet they have from the Batman Begins shooting.  They think that it is real, but it didn't sound like they were 100% sure.  The surprise on this sheet was a listing of "T. Welling" playing the part of "Kent".  Of course, the speculation is Smallville star Tom Welling making a cameo as Clark Kent, which I think might be kind of cool.  Anyways, we'll have to wait and see if it was true, but interesting news either way.  He's also been rumored for the lead in the Superman movie, but no confirmation on that role yet.

I guess maybe this belongs in the OTC section now, judging by the packaging, but Galactic Hunter has some packaged pics up of that next wave of glasses (Han, Boba, Yoda).  That black and silver packaging just makes everything look better, doesn't it?  I do hope these come to retail here, the figures I could care less about...but I do enjoy the glasses.  Plus, its 3 of my favorite characters.

That is something I was curious about Brent, whether many of us would even start back up again.  I know I don't have near the collections of many others, but I feel I have quite a bit of "stuff" too, and it would be kind of overwhelming trying to get it all back.  I think I'd still want something, and the VOTC line might be the route I would go (or even the OTC - since they wouldn't be "repacks" to me then - or vintage figures).  Of course, we all know how that goes, once you start...it seems to keep building and building, and branching out and branching out.

I was just thinking about this again lately, and had another question for you guys.  If you had lost, sold, got rid of....whatever....your collection, and you were starting from scratch, or re-starting again....what would be the first thing or area you would buy?  Where would you focus, or what would you want to have first?  For me, it would first off be in the Original Trilogy area.  From there, it would either be my loose vintage figure collection (nostalgia and these figures is why I collect Star Wars in the first place), or the 12 VOTC figures.  I think at first I might lean towards the VOTC figures, and then build the collection from there, picking up some of the other "best" figures from the modern era.  I think those would be the areas I would focus on, if I was starting from scratch, and maybe eventually branch into the other things again.

Definitely a QB...but to be fair, a backup one.  You of course can pick whoever you want, but just saying...if you want to pick a Giants qb, you might be better off picking Kurt Warner or Eli Manning, since they are more likely to play this year.  Or any other qb, or anyone else.  Like I said though, you are welcome to pick whoever you want.  I've got my pick ready, should I make it or give Famine a chance to change his (if he wants)?  Just trying to be fair :).

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: The "Space" Issue
« on: August 24, 2004, 11:19 AM »
Yeah, actually, that's another option I wanted to mention in my original post but forgot.....do you "rotate" stuff out, do you have things in storage, things of that nature.  Also, do you mind that you have to have things stored away...or would you rather have them displayed?  Does the fact that you have to use storage bother you, etc.?  I know I have a few things that are left in rubbermaid tubs for now (vintage stuff and misc. larger stuff, a couple of ships), I'd like to figure out a way to get it all displayed.

Watto's Junk Yard / The "Space" Issue
« on: August 24, 2004, 10:55 AM »
While reading a number of posts and threads from a number of different forum members (myself included), it seems that space is becoming more and more of an issue for those of us who collect the various Star Wars (and other franchise/toy) lines.  I know since we've moved, and I've packed/unpacked and tried to figure out how I'd like to display things, space is something that has got me thinking more and more about my collection.  I was wondering if any of you are having space issues, what you are doing about it, or what thoughts you have had about it.  I know personally, it has forced me to really take a hard look at my collecting, and decide what I really want/think I need.  The combination of space, money, and a few other issues has brought me to the conclusion that I will likely be scaling back any "other" collections, and focus primarily on Star Wars.  Although I do enjoy other lines as well, and would really like to collect them, I just don't know if it is possible...or even logical for me to do so.  Aside from a few LOTR figures I'd still like to pick up eventually, and possibly a Spider-Man figure here or there, I think its going to be Star Wars and only Star Wars from here on out.  We all know there is more than enough of that to collect by itself!  Anyways, back to the main issue, has space become a big problem for you (or is it heading that way)...do you have a plan of action for it, or has it helped/caused you to re-assess your collection and/or display?  I'd be curious to see what some of you are considering.  It is tough to give up some of the other lines I'd like to collect, but at the same time I know it is probably the right thing to do.  Keeping a "tally" this year of what I have spent on collectibles doesn't help the matter any either ;)

Yeah, it is definitely handy to have the bench players.  I think half of the years I've been in fantasy football leagues I've lost my qb to injury, and its nice to at least have someone to put in there.  Plus, like Jeff said, with bye weeks, injuries, etc., you can end up having a lot of open spots throughout the season.  Oh...and Famine is going to be changing his pick (since he picked an individual defensive player) right?  No hurry, I just wanted to make sure you guys weren't waiting on me.  I'm ready to pick whenever, at least I think I am :P.

Just got a chance to check out this feature this morning, and it is pretty neat.  Both of the pics so far have been pretty spiffy, hopefully we'll see them in the movie (especially that W-Wing, nice).

Original Trilogy Collection / Re: VOTC/OTC Purchases
« on: August 24, 2004, 09:02 AM »
I'm still searching as well, but it is the same around here as many of you have seen.  The OTC sells very quickly, and has dried up pretty well around here.  I can see the VOTC Han, Ben, and Leia pretty regularly, and that is about it.  I'm still on the look out for OTC Bespin Luke, Gam. Guard, Bib Fortuna (possibly), Slave Leia, and maybe some Jawas as well.  I'm really hoping to find a VOTC Vader (and the rest of the line).  Hopefully the last two waves will end up being as easy to locate as the ANH wave, but somehow I doubt that :).

This article at FoxSports.com says that Shaq reportedly wants the Heat to trade for Grizzlies point guard Jason Williams.  The trade could possibly involve Eddie Jones and either Damon Jones/Keyon Dooling in exchange for Williams and possibly James Posey.  Who knows if it will happen...but its NBA News I guess anyways :P

Ok, so we just post our picks in here, and we don't need to do anything in the yahoo set up then?  Just curious, I've only done the "auto pick" drafts before too.  Sounds good to me though.
