Gentle Giant / Re: Gentle Giant Bust Ups!
« on: February 24, 2006, 01:09 PM »
Bah, they're all inexpensive, save one or two.  Jump in...

Yeah... thanks, but I think Scott's newfound will-power is wearing off on me.  Either that or it's the fear of how much all those diapers are going to cost me this fall.   :-X

Yeah, I know what you mean.

I have stayed away from these bust-ups, but that box set is very tempting.  You get all 6 BHers and then Vader on top of it.  I think I will resist because I know that if I pick up this set, I'd be tracking down all the rest in no time...  ::)

Since this is the General Sideshow thread, though I'd post this here.

A few nuggets have come out of Sideshow post- Toy Fair...

They are planning TEN 12" figures for this year:
1.  Luke (Jedi)
2.  Anakin (Ep3)
3.  Obi-Wan (Ep3)
4.  Kit Fisto
5.  Han Solo (Bespin)
6.  Mace Windu
7.  ?
8.  ?
9.  ?
10.  ?

There are five main categories for the figures:
- Order of the Jedi
- Heroes of the Rebellion
- Lords of the Sith
- Military
- Scum and Villainy

Not much new, but it's nice to see a target number for the year to help folks out with their budgets and such.

Anyone want to speculate on who you think will be next?  My money is on the Sith...   ;)

1:6 Scale Figures and Collectibles / Re: Sideshow 12" SDCC Exclusive?
« on: February 24, 2006, 10:33 AM »
More info from Sideshow:

Quote
In the collectible action-figure arena, Sideshow Collectibles of Westlake Village, Calif., is continuing with an aggressive push to expand its Star Wars line for 2006. Brant Bridges, production manager at Sideshow, told SCI FI Wire: "We did the Premium Format line and more recently introduced the 12-inch line, and we have been rabidly focused on it. We've broken the line into five sub-collections called Order of the Jedi, Heroes of the Rebellion, Lords of the Sith, Military and Scum and Villains. Because the line has been so successful, we are looking to branch out in ways collectors should be very happy about. Star Wars is where we will venture into unique body-shape figures—some of the creatures, the droids and the stormtroopers—we are going to tackle them."

Revealing their announcement lineup, Bridges added: "We have Mace Windu and Empire Han Solo here at Toy Fair. Then we are shipping the first 10 figures this year. We are planning a San Diego [Comic-Con International] exclusive figure, which was going to be Kit Fisto, the alien Jedi from the last two prequels, but reaction was so strong to Luke and Anakin, we decided an entirely unique character would upset collectors. For the [Comic-] Con exclusive, it will be a legitimate variation on an existing character."

So, at least that is more confirmation that the SDCC figure will just be a variation and probably strengthens the "Sith Eyes" Anakin rumors a bit...

I was kind of hoping that we'd settled on Aliens.  Even though the new challenge hasn't technical begun, I started making some custom heads from sculpy last night.  I'm going to try casting them into plastic and make a few aliens.

I think we did settle on Aliens for Month 11 (March) and Imperial Troops for Month 12 (April).

I think Phruby and Ennis are talking about the next "Group Project" FFURG v. JD (like the Clone Wars that is going on now...

does anybody know the return policy for target?  i kept a bunch of receipts for TSC stuff that i bought at $6.99, if i bring them the receipts will they give me the difference or do i have to actually bring in the product?  if i have to bring the figs that sucks as i'm an opener.

Often times they will not price adjust unless the item is actually on sale in the weekly ad.  I have had a few Targets that will do it, but most say no.  Best you can do is try your local Target and see.

Or, if you really need to save the cash and don't care about bad karma, just go into the Target store and buy a bunch of figures at the new price and then return them with the old reciepts.  You don't even have to leave the store, just head from the check-out right to the customer service desk.  I know folks have done that as the "loop-hole" to sale adjustments...

Conventions / Re: 2006 San Diego Comic-Con
« on: February 23, 2006, 08:00 PM »
Jeff- Do you think that Hasbro replaced the figure this year with the Gold Titanium Vader Tie or do you think there will still be a Hasbro 3 3/4" figure as well?

Don't know for sure yet.  Early rumor reports said that Hasbro would have a convention exclusive figure this year, so there could still be both a figure and the Gold TIE too.

I see the 3-packs every now and again at the local Targets.  I bought the Green Lantern pack (obviously) but I am always tempted by that "villian" 3-pack for Mirror Master.

I can grab the Justice Lords pack for you if you want as I recall seeing a few at the closest Target...

Yeah, we joked that it would have been interesting to see how Team USA would have fared against, say the Golden Gophers or Wisconsin Badgers.

Watching the Gophers play lately, they sure would have played with more speed and energy than Team USA mustered in a few of thsoe games.  Also would have played a lot closer without the stupid penalties the USA kept taking...

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Gas Prices
« on: February 23, 2006, 02:48 PM »
Thank goodness for a warmer than average winter...  seems like without the "heating/fuel oil" excuse, gas has stayed "low" for a while.

Over the last month or so, the highest it's gone is around $2.20 averaging closer to $2.07 per gallon.

Not great, but not nearly as bad as some were predicting back in October/November.

Lotsa RAH updates at Medicom today...

New Movie Gamera!

Cap'n Jack Sparrow!

Man, I'm actually tempted by that Gamera figure for some reason...  :-\

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Battle of Naboo Wave
« on: February 23, 2006, 12:49 PM »
Poor neglected Naboo wave...  :'(

No respect, no love at Toy Fair or any of the follow-up reports.

I'm still itching to know which 2 Pod Racer pilots were picked - they most likely have to be smaller to fit on the new thinner bubbles (a la the gonk/treadwell 2-pack).  Still holding out hope for Ben Quad to be one of them...

I'm also still patiently waiting to see if the Ep1 Obi-Wan turns out to be a total re-hash or if they can use some of the newer jedi bodies to give us a much improved Ep1 version.   :-\

30th Anniversary Collection / Re: Battle of Death Star (Yavin) Wave
« on: February 23, 2006, 12:44 PM »
I merged the two threads (Battle of Death Star / Battle of Yavin) together since one of the reports from Toy Fair indicated a pseudo-confirmation that they are two different names for the same thing.

Still no confirmation on the actual figures in this wave though, so for now all we have is the rumor reports...

Rebel Sentry
Luke Skywalker (Ceremony)
Han Solo (Ceremony)
Rebel Pilot
Death Star Trooper
