Ok, I have to credit fellow member Talon Karde for inspiration on this one, my version of a Clone Wars Obi Wan Kenobi.

Wow, I might just have to try this out myself.  Looks great!

Forgive my asking, but what/where is the Dr. Doom cape from?  I'm not really into the Marvel stuff, so I don't know what the deal is with the "superhero showdown" stuff.  They don't seem to have them at the local Target.

Is it an older/discontinued line or is it a new line that is pegwarming somewhere I don't know about?   :-\

Pigma Micron pens by Sakura are graphic art / drafting pens you can buy at any craft store.

I use these all the time for modeling, especially doing panel lines on my Gundam model kits, they work great!

Wow, I really like this.  I agree that you should leave it white - I like how he looks like the box and isn't all weathered yet!  After all, that armor has to be new at least once, right?  ;)

Wow, these latest auctions are doing great!

The bidding is out of my price range already and there is still a few days left.  Good luck to everyone that is bidding!

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Gree and Bly - a nice surprise
« on: October 12, 2005, 10:12 AM »
I guess it's the sculpt that I like so much from the SA Clone that they used for Gree.  I do realize that it's not film accurate, but my only real gripe is the shoulder straps.  I'm willing to overlook that for some reason.  Maybe because green is my favorite color.

I agree with you Chewie.  I really like Gree, my only complaint is also the painted on straps.  Well, and the helmet colors seem off.  But, I'll buy him because I don't really think they will re-visit the Clone Commanders again this is probably it for Gree.

I also really like Bly.  Sure, he is just a re-paint of the #33, but the paint job really makes him "click".  I love the shade of yellow and I love that his paint aps are new and different from the red/green #33.  Makes him really look like a different guy.  My only gripe here is much like others the shades of yellow don't match with the Evo Clones.  But really, it doesn't bother me as it helps Bly stand out amongst his troopers.

Revenge of the Sith / Re: NEW TIE Fighter
« on: October 12, 2005, 10:08 AM »
There are a few of these sitting around here now too (and that's after sending a few away to Canada  ;)).

I really like this TIE and to me, I think it's worth the cash to get the biggger wing TIE, but I totally understand that $40 is a bit more than the "average" comsumer (moms and grandmas) would spend, especially when they can grab an ARC-170 or Mustafar playset for the kiddies for $10 less.

I'm sure a price drop closer to Christmas will be in order, and when the price drops even just by $5-10 I'm sure tehy will start to fly off the shelves...

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Wal-Mart Separation of the Twins Figures
« on: October 12, 2005, 10:05 AM »
So, according to all the rumors that I've seen so far, these will be somewhere in the neighborhood of $6.88 each.

I am still on the fence.  I agree witht eh movie-accurate folks - this is probably our one chance at these figures and they kinda suck.  I wasn't expecting too much for the babies (how can you really do a nice 3.75" scale newborn), but the fact that they are straight re-packs blows.  Like others have said, why not throw in a sg cloak for Ben or a better Bail?   :(

As it stands, I'll still most likely pick up a set for the carded collection, but I think I will pass on grabbing an opener set for now.  I sure would be grabbing an opener set if they had done up the Queen or Beru as part of these sets... it makes me want that rumored Lars family screen scene more than ever.

A nice little surprise waiting for me when I got home.

:o  Wow Dale, nice score.  He'll look great with the rest of the carded figures!

New pics of the Carkoon wave at GH.com

Wow, that Boushh is fantastic.  What a HUGE improvement over the PotF2 version - I love the pony tail!

Han - Yeah, would be nice if he had better articulation (since it looks like Boushh has ball jointed knees and shoulders).  As for the block, it looks like it's cast in red plastic then silver painted over it... it's kind of growing on me.

Bib - I like him, but I kinda don't like the face, a nice blank "I will take you to jabba now" expression would have been better than the scowling one IMHO.

Barada/Fett - look the same with a few small paint ap changes

Chewy - Eh, I'll probbaly buy him carded, but don't need an opener if the chain is the only difference - and he doesn't even come with a gun?   ::)

« on: October 10, 2005, 03:47 PM »
So, for those who have found it, what is the deal with the head?

I keep hearing mixed reports - the helmet is glued on, the helmet is removable, the helmet is a standard ROTS head?   ???

Anyone have one open yet?  All I keep seeing are carded photos...  :-\

Saga Collection '06 / Re: 2 repacks from each film...
« on: October 10, 2005, 02:56 PM »
If you could pick out two figures from each of the 6 films to appear in the new SAGA line, what woudl they be?

Are they supposed to be repacks we want to see again or repacks that "define" those movies aka Main Characters?   ???

I'll do both I guess:

What Hasbro would do (aka trying to build a Dream Main Character HoF assortment):

TPM - Qui-Gon (Jedi Master) and Darth Maul (MotDS)
AOTC - Mace Windu (Ep1 version) and Padme (Arena Battle)
ROTS - Anakin (Evolution) and Obi-Wan (Pilot)
ANH - Princess Leia (vOTC)) and Cantina Han Solo (vOTC)
ESB - Dagobah Luke (OTC) and Yoda (OTC)
ROTJ - Stormtroper (vOTC) and Chewbacca (vOTC)

Looking at that though, I might try to squeeze the Droids in there instead - for example, probably instead of Mace I'd do 3PO and instead of Qui-Gon I might do R2-D2.

As for what I'd like to see get re-released out of my own wants, it'd be:

TPM - Ep1 Pit Droid 2-pack and Ep1 Gungan Warrior
AOTC - SA Clone Trooper (white) and Evolution Clone Pilot (yellow)
ROTS - RotS#6 Shocktrooper and Evolution Clone Trooper (either color)
ANH - Evolution Sandtrooper and vOTC Stormtrooper
ESB - Saga Snowtrooper and FF AT-AT Driver
ROTJ - PotJ Scout Trooper and Saga TIE Pilot

Now that'd be a nice repack case o' Army Builders.   ;)

« on: October 8, 2005, 01:03 PM »
;D I just got my set in the mail!!!!!

Me too!  My comments mirror those who have gone before -

Chewy = Excellent
Luke = OK
Leia = OK
R2-D2 = OK

Nothing stunning or spectacular, but I must admit I am excited to finally have my "box of empty promises" fufilled.  ;)

My first deal with Mike and everything has gone smoothly.

Super-fast payment for loot I'm sending him means it's a good deal in my book!

Thanks again and your loot is on it's way!   ;)
