We've never had any arguing here, so let's not start now.

Ditto.

And, I stand by what I said earlier and also agree with some of what you guys said.

I just don't get some of these simple repaint Clone customs.  For example, the auction that kicked this thread off - $100 for 4 clones of that quality too much IMHO.   I'd rather spend the money on a dozen #41s and do it myself.

I do agree though that some of the customs (even some of the clones) out there are worth the money if you are willing to spend it.  I guess in the end it's a judgement call like a few of you said here.  Would I spend $25 on a repainted clone I could do myself?  No way.  Would I spend $25 on a well-crafted, ultra cool custom?  Quite possibly...

I went ahead and grabbed a case via pre-order to practice the fine art of "CYA" (we all know what a wasteland retail can be post-christmas  ::)).

Hopefully they get here sooner than that, like November maybe?   ;D

As far as the case assortment, it seems pretty good to me.  I'm thinking I'll grab 1 each to keep carded and then grab an extra of each of the "new" figures (Han, Leia, Bib) to open.  That just leaves me with 1x extra Han and 2x extra Fetts, not too bad I guess.  Would have been nice to have an extra Leia instead of all the Fetts, but oh well.

At first, I was thinking I might need to buy an opener for the other 3 in the wave, but they didn't impress me...

- A yellow-shirt Barada would have been a keeper, but this repack is too close to the other 2 we've had.
- The metal chain isn't enough to get me to buy yet another PotJ Mechanic Chewie
- Pit of Carkoon Fett?  Again?  No need for another opener of that one

I was going to ask if I could go in on the cases that you so kindly bought for everyone in the MN thread but I assumed that you guys get together and split the bounty vs. shipping them out to everyone.

Yeah, they will most likely be divvied up at a future MN Club meeting once they arrive in order to avoid re-shipping.  However, there were a few grubby Canadians that wiggled their way in there too.   :P

Just an FYI that Amazon is currently offering free shipping on a bunch of stuff if anyone has the cash and is looking to save gas hunting some of this stuff down:

Obi-Wan Jedi Starfighter - Blue/Utapau version

Hoth Battle Pack

Spud Trooper

Looks like the Spudtrooper is now IN-STOCK at Amazon.com.

Looks like a similar price to DarthTater - $8.99 plus tax/shipping.

Good luck to anyone trying to nab a Spud!

Just an FYI, but there is free shipping on Amazon right now so I pulled the trigger on Spud Trooper... he shipped today and should arrive next week and will most likely look great posed with Darth Tater!   :)

God, I hate to say this, but really the price isn't that bad.

Yeah, there is a bit of sticker shock for sure but it really isn't so bad if you can find buddies to go in on a case with you.

The gang in the MN thread went together on a few cases (3) of the droids from EE, and the final cost works out to about $336 per case or about $34 per box of droids.  That is $68 (including shipping) for 1x set #1 and 1x set #2, which is $6.80 per droid.

Really, that's about the same as a buying a RotS figure at TRU - $5.99 plus tax = $6.41 - and that doesn't even include the fact that there is no hunting involved, they are just delivered right to you.

Sure, maybe they should be cheaper since they are just repaints with no accessories, but EE knows you are getting exclusive droids in a fancy exclusive packaging.

Anyway, IMHO for about the same price as retail, it really isn't too outrageous.   :-X

Now, of course if you get stuck buying the set for $75 plus $10 shipping and paying $8.50 each per droid (after shipping), well yeah - that totally sucks.   :(

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Wal-Mart "Early Bird" Exclusive

I think the problem at this point is that the majority of WMs who got the EBs in the first place have either clearanced them out or they sent them back to Hasbro; either way, those stores don't have the EB sets anymore.

The extra EB Kits that were not sold in the stores were sent back to the distribution centers be sold via the on-line Wal-Mart.com store.  That is why in Hasbro's September Update about the EB Kits, they specifically mention buying them at Wal-Mart.com and not the stores.

As for how places like Action-HQ and other e-tailers are selling them, well I think they must be getting them from the classic "they fell off the truck" method.  The same way that those eBay sellers can offer loads and loads of loose/complete Army Builders so cheap.

Time to start one of these for bjardkerr I guess.

Had my first deal with him and it went smoothly.  I got paid quickly for the loot I'm sending him and that is always a good thing!   :)

Thanks again and your loot is on it's way!

REBEL SOLDIERS:  (all SA of Course, and I define SA as ball joint Shoulders, ball joint elbows, ball joint knees, wrist and hip and ankle (lower leg) articulation).

Rebel Fleet Trooper
Hoth Rebel
Endor Rebel

But here is my take on it....make all 3 different head sculpts, but make the "pegs" that the heads fit on ALL THE SAME SIZE.  Removable headgear for each soldier, and include a "4th" head.  That way if you bought 4 packs, you'd have 4 different heads on all 3 body types.  Then for the variation, make the Hoth Rebel an  Echo Base Trooper, the RFT an Honor Guard and the Endor Rebel one of the different uniforms.

Yeah, Jesse and I were talking about something similar in the other Evolutions thread a while back...

I'd also like a Rebel Trooper set...

-Tantive IV, Hoth, and Endor...  The army builder sets would have me shelling out the cash like there's no tomorrow.  *sigh*

As long as they have alternate heads...  one thing I can't stand is having my army builders all have the same heads!  I mean it's fine for Imp Troopers with Helmets, but for guys like the hoth dude or endor dude it would suck to have a bunch of the same guy - they aren't clones after all!

Now, the way to really do it up right would be to pack in 3 alternate head sculpts and then make ALL six of the heads (3 on the troopers and the 3 extras) interchangable!

Then, you could buy 6 of Jesse's proposed Rebel Trooper sets and have six "unique" troopers for each movie (tantive, hoth, endor) without having to chase down a bunch of corps figures for customs/head-swaps!

Jeff

Ever since they did that dagobah Luke, I've been wanting them to try an army builder with alternate heads like that.  If they could find a way to pull that off, I'd be right there with you buying as many of those packs as I could!   ;)

especially if things stay at the $4.77-$5 pricepoint.

I have a funny feeling that after Christmas brings a close to this movie year, the $5 price-point might disappear for a while...  :-\

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Anyone know the Walmart DCPI #'s
« on: October 7, 2005, 10:43 AM »
I don't think Wal-Mart has special numbers like Target does, they usually track things by UPC.  So, in order to have them look something up (which they hate doing, even at Guest Services) you need to give them the full UPC number.

I don't think anyone has the UPC numbers for those Figure w/Baby exclusives yet because no packaged samples have shown up.   :-\

I heard a rumor that Hasbro only shipped out 1000 of the 50000 to the distributor house so far.

Something along the lines of using those 1000 as early teaser sets to try to get people off their butts and order the remaining sets from Wal-Mart.com if they haven't already.  Hasn't been confirmed anywhere, just the rumor that is going around.

On the other hand, I did hear of a few more on-line associates who got theirs this week, so they could be trickling out still...

Hmmm... I haven't pulled the trigger on any of these RAH figures yet, but this Cyclops has me seriously reconsidering it.

He always was my favorite X-Man.  Might have to hit eBay and see if I can find a good deal...  ;)

Looks like the MouseDroid gang have found some great new pictures of these guys.

The carded shots are kinda blurry, but the loose ones are great!

Hmmm... looks like the loose shots are gone now?

I just don't get all these high-priced auctions for clone repaints.

Why do people pay big $$$ for a single repainted clone?   ???

I understand the ones we did for charity, but I don't understand the average guy who will drop $100 for 4 clones.  Sure, it's only $25 each, but I've got a better way to spend the cash.  Go to Target/TRU/Wal-Mart and buy a bunch of #41 Clones.  At about $5-6 each, you should be able to get around 15 Clones with some change.  Then, go grab a few brushes and a few bottles of cheap Folk Art/Apple Barrel paint ($1 each at most places).

There, now you just spent $100 and you can have 15 repainted clones!  Painting really isn't that tricky, and after trying it a few times (say 15 times with all those clones you bought), you'll get pretty good pretty quick!

Maybe people are just afraid to try?  I know I was afraid at first, but most of those acrylic paints are so water soluable that if you mess up on the first shot, it's easy to strip the paint and try again!
