Other Collectibles / Re: Star Wars "Force Battlers" Figures
« on: January 24, 2006, 05:58 PM »
Thanks for the info guys.  For those of you that have seen the last series, do you know if the Chewie and Grievous are just repacks?  I'm pretty sure Hasbro had an update about them, but I can't seem to track it down on their website.

Force Battlers Wave 5 at Hasbro

On Grievous and Chewie, I think the figures were the same but they came with new doo-dads/accessories.  That was my understanding anyway...  :-\

Kubricks / Re: Attack of the Kubricks!
« on: January 24, 2006, 05:45 PM »
Ok, someone please help me here.  It looks like Toys Chameleon charges about $73 US per case and shipping to the U.S. is around $30.  My question is, do they charge more for shipping multiples cases?  I was trying to add 4 to my cart (making a master case) but it wouldn't register on the checkout page, so I wasn't able to see if shipping would increase.

Sorry, never used them before.  :-\

Also, if anyone has websites that they suggest preordering this series from, could you please let me know since the only cases I bought were from BBTS here in the U.S.

Around these parts, I think most folks who pre-order their Kubricks use one of these sites:

www.eBay.com - pretty obvious and where I started
www.HLJ.com - Japan e-tailer, good prices if you get in early
www.robby.jp - Japan wholesaler, but you need to preregister a "retail wholesaler" account to order
www.spanky.co.jp - never used them myself, but others have
www.toys-chameleon.com - never used them myself, but others have

I think toys-chameleon is the only one taking pre-orders so far...

How much do the cases typically cost and how much is shipping for a mastercase?  Can you use credit cards to preorder or do they require prepayment for international orders?

By pre-ordering early, individual boxes of 12 usually run anywhere from $65-80.  The earlier you order, the better the price.   Master cases would obviously then be anywhere from $260 to $320.

Shipping really varies depending on where you live and how much you buy.  Probably run anywhere from $30-60 for shipping a Master Caser, depending on if you choose SAL (surface) or EMS (express).

Most of the places will take a credit card hold to secure a pre-order and then charge you once the stuff ships.  Be VERY wary of those who make you pay full price on pre-order.  Lotsa people lose money that way because they pay up front and the pre-order is never filled (especially the case on eBay  >:().

And is there any way to translate these Japanese websites?  Your collective help is appreciated.

I like to use www.babelfish.altavista.com to do my translations...

Kubricks / Re: 400% Kubricks
« on: January 23, 2006, 04:31 PM »
I like this one.  I want it

Agreed.

I'd love to have the regular version in my collection, but as a 1:192 chase figure from a long past series, they don't pop up on eBay all that often and when they do they are damn expensive.    :-\

Now, I can try to nab the 400% version for less than the regular version is selling for...  :P

These are off topic and may be a no no on this board but I felt the need to share them anyway.

As I've said before, as long as this place doesn't become ALL non-Star Wars, sneaking in a few things from time to time is OK.   ;)

As a Green Lantern nut (see my many GL items here), I love this custom version!  Much better than dropping the big bucks on the uber-rare Mattel version.

I've been planning to do a similar custom once I found the right head and that Nightwing head (with mullet removed) looks like just the trick.  Hope you don't mind my stealing that idea.  :)

and ps.
I don't think Ted will be back soon, they have already replaced him with a new Blue Beetle!   :'(

Kubricks / Re: Attack of the Kubricks!
« on: January 23, 2006, 03:08 PM »
I love Medicom website update day... especially when there is so much SW news.

On the topic of Series 6, it does sounds like June will be the month, but we all know how that goes so July is more likely for release and I'm sure August will be the month most of us get them in our hands.   :)

As for the choices, I think they are pretty good overall.  Two Imp troops and a droid, Two rebel troops and a droid.  I'd have to guess that the cases will be heavy with Luke and TIE Pilot, maybe one of the troopers too?

Here was my wish/guess list for Series 6:

Series 6:
1.  Luke X-Wing Pilot (3:12) w/Wedge Antilles & Biggs Darklighter Chases (1:48 each)
2.  TIE Pilot (3:12) w/DS Trooper Chase (3:48)
3.  Walrusman   Wuher (1:12)
4.  Hammerhead (1:12)
5.  Grand Moff Tarkin (3:12)
6.  Garindan (1:12)

Looks like I get two off my wish list (Luke and TIE Pilot) and a bonus DS Trooper I thought would be a chase (didn't think they'd put two army builders in there at once let alone 3).  Not too shabby, if I do say so myself.   :P

As for the chases, well I hope they pull another "Ponda Baba"-esque random chase on us.  I'd love to find a Hammerhead in a TIE Pilot box this time around.  He's the last of the Vinty Cantina Aliens and my Ponda, Greedo, and Snags are lonely without him.   ;)

Revenge of the Sith / Re: Stands for ROTS figs?
« on: January 23, 2006, 02:30 PM »
OK, so I need to know if there are some type of Real Action Stands (or something similar) for the ROTS figs cause most of my ROTS figs have very shallow peg holes in the feet and they won't fit in regular RAS and they keep falling over.  Suggestions?  Help?

I took a wire cutter and just snipped down the pegs on a few of my Real stands to shorten the pegs.  Seems to work well for the Clones and other figures with shallow peg holes.

That looks like a 400% Wicket Bearbrick to me.

So do we get prizes for seeing this in that picture all those weeks ago?   ;)

I am not a Kubrick expert at all but what is up with that Wicket?  By the way the other figures look really nice IMO.  But Wicket looks like something from another line than Star Wars.  Is it?

Wicket is NOT a Kubrick, he is a Be@rbrick.

It is another line that Medicom makes.  When he was originally released in that line as a regular figure, he was an uber-chase figure (1:192).

Here is the orginal version with his box:

Somewhere in our many Kubrick threads he is discussed... let's see if I can find the linky.

Steelers/Seahawks...

So, the big winner is the NFL because they get an East Coast and a West Coast team.  Marketing gurus with Superbowl ad time are rejoicing!   :P

Seriously though, I'll have to stay out of choosing a winner.

If I endorse Pittsburgh, then Dave gets mad at me and forgets to share any sweet Toy Fair loot he gets next month.  If I endorse Seattle, then Jesse gets mad at me and have you seen him mad?  He gets all frothy and what-not.

Guess I'll just watch the game and enjoy it for the commercials...  :P

Saga Collection '06 / Re: Clone Wars Gunship
« on: January 22, 2006, 10:38 PM »
What if the price is higher due to scaled side turrets?

Scale sized turrets? I wish... but I doubt they are doing that.

I doubt they are doing it as well because in the cartoon the side turrets were not there:

So, technically, while the Hasbro toy doesn't match the movie version of the ship, it matches the cartoon version pretty closely.   ;)

New Force is calling the Hoth wave = WAVE 1 on the pre-orders too, so really, all their numbers are off by 1 wave.

What New Force is calling Wave 3.3 should really be "Wave 4.3" according to the way the other do it.

NewForce is just numbering them different is all...
