I can see the direction this is going, and fear that if you have different questions to be asked than the staff had planned on, they won't be asked, and that's playing into Hasbro's hands by asking them about stuff they are already planning on making.

Come on now, CHEWIE.  I think you're getting a bit dramatic with this last comment.  I understand that you are passionate about playsets here, but implying that we're just going to ignore your request is kinda silly.

Why would we start a thread asking what kind of questions you want us to try to ask if we had no intention of asking anything other than what we were already planning to ask?  Kinda defeats the purpose of the thread...

And, I already said back here that we can certainly add the playset questions to the list and see what we can try to get answered for you.

and a ps.

As for Attakus, is it going to cost so much for that playset?  Because they are casting the damn thing in METAL.  It could be done for a hell of a lot cheaper with plastic and made affordable for those of us aren't CEO's of companies.

Also, just to let you know, the Attakus figures are made out of 100% metal.  The Falcon playset that they designed is about 30% metal and 70% resin according to the info that went out at the end of the year last year.  The falcon is metal and resin and the hangar/hallway/base is all resin.

8 ships in one wave?

No, 4 and then 4.  Like this:

Wave 4
1x Treasure Hunt Republic Gunship (Clone Wars deco)
2x Darth Vader's TIE Fighter
1x Imperial Shuttle Tyderium
1x AT-AT
2x Wookiee Helicopter
2x Anakin's Jedi Starfighter (Green)
2x Battle-Ravaged Millennium Falcon
1x Royal Starship

Wave 4, Rev 1
2x AT-AT
1x Treasure Hunt Republic Gunship (Clone Wars deco)
1x Darth Vader's TIE Fighter
1x Imperial Shuttle Tyderium
1x Death Star
1x Jango Fett's Slave I
2x Royal Starship
1x Wookiee Helicopter
1x Anakin's Jedi Starfighter (Green)
1x Battle-Ravaged Millennium Falcon

Wave 5
1x Treasure Hunt Republic Gunship (Clone Wars deco)
1x Battle-Ravaged Millennium Falcon
2x Royal Starship
2x Darth Maul's Sith Infiltrator
2x Obi-Wan Kenobi's Jedi Starfighter (Blue)
2x Trade Federation AAT
2x Titanium Limited Edition Slave I

They are sneaking that "lost" wave in during Wave 4.  Then the newer ships in Wave 5.

Also, be sure to note that the "Galactic Hunt" Silver Slave 1 is 2x per case, so it won't be that rare.  Also, the Treasure Hunt Clone Wars Gunship is not only shipping in Wave 3, but it continues to ship at 1x per case through wave 5 so it won't be all that rare in the long run either.   ;)

Here's the EE picture...

Didn't they get bitch slapped for doing this back a few years ago?  They were selling cases at a show before they had even started to ship preorders to customers like me

The infamous 2003 Wave 13 case... don't even get me started on that one.   >:(

I can see why they are doing it that way - a case has 5 sets for $300, but if they fill the "by the set" orders first, they get $75 per set or $375 for that same case.  It's a way for them to get the money back on them the fastest.

It sucks ass though that those of us who chose the more economical route get penalized and have to wait... :(

That's what's happening Jeff. I called EE to see if I can pick up my case, and they explained to me that they are filling the set orders first as they have not recieved their full order from Hasbro yet.

So, basically they are filling the orders where they make the most money first?  Lame.   >:(  >:(  >:(

Jeff, you missed almost a whole division:  :P

Oh, sorry.  I left out the other two because I didn't make any changes to them...

It doesn't fit really well with a lot of the divisions, though I can't see how you can really say that about Winnipeg and not say it about Minnesota as well, it's only one hour of extra flying time.

I feel for ya.  Here's how I'd handle it.  I'd move the Penguins to Winnipeg (sorry Jesse).

First thing I'd do is re-name them.  I wouldn't go back to Jets, but I'd pick something else... how about the Winnipeg Wendigos?  Maybe the Winnipeg "Suck it Bettman"s?

Anyway, I'd stick them in the Northwest Division with us.  Then, I'd move around some other teams to make it all work.  It'd look a little something like this:

ATLANTIC
Philadelphia
NY Rangers
New Jersey
NY Islanders
Columbus* (takes Pittsburgh's place out east)

CENTRAL
Detroit
Dallas* (takes Columbus' place)
Nashville
Chicago
St. Louis

PACIFIC
Los Angeles
Anaheim
Phoenix
San Jose
Vancouver* (takes Dallas' place)

NORTHWEST
Calgary
Colorado
Edmonton
Minnesota
Winnipeg*(take's Vancouver's place)

If they did move the Pens west to Vegas, they'd have to do some re-arranging too (probably very similar to what I have listed only minus the Vancouver move since Vegas would just take the place of the displaced Stars) so why not just go all the way and right a long gone wrong for Winnipeg?

Then, in a few years, after Pittsburg has learned from it's mistake and put in gambling and a new arena, they can have the Oilers because they'll be ready to go and all the changes/moves can be reversed...   :P

My sets have shipped as well ;D

What bugs me is that when you look at the EE pre-order pages, all of the SINGLE boxes and the set of 2 show a January date and people are getting shipping notices.  Yet, the "buy the case" pre-order still says FEBRUARY?   :-\

I hope I don't have to wait for them to fill a bunch of single orders before I get my cases of those droids...  ::)

I wonder though, if it's in SAGA 2006 packaging, wouldn't it be considered a SAGA item? I guess we won't know until we see the packaging.

Yeah.  All we know about it at the moment is that it is from the Clone Wars Cartoon, so it went over there (just like the EE 4-Pack Clones did when they first popped up).

If pictures show up and it's in Saga style packaging, then it will most likely find it's way back over here...

I'm thinking that this might come with a figure or two considering the price tag on it.

That's kinda what I was hoping too.  $45 for this thing is a rip off unless it's got a couple NEW pack-in figures.

The original didn't sell well at $40 until they went on clearance and the CW and RotS versions sold like hotcakes at $30.  Charging $45 for these is stupid unless they have at least one new pack-in figure.   :-\

Folks are talkign about this guy over in the Clone Wars Section.

Yes, it is supposed to have the Cartoon "Shark" paint aps...

Wait, what figures are coming in this pack again?

No one really knows for sure at this point.

I've seen/heard at least two different rumors so far -
1) Ep2 Palpy, Orn Free Ta, Ep2 Bail, Ep2 Red Guard x2
or
2) Ep3 Red Guard x2, Anakin, Palpy, Mace

And, Jayson's guess is another good possibility I suppose.

Again, those are just rumors though and no one knows for sure yet...  :-\

Is this the Yoda/Sidious/Shocktroopers set? If so, I'll be ordering these like a ************!!!

No, that is the Target Exclusive Skirmish at the Senate Battle Pack.  This one is completely different despite the very similar name.

Those are simple questions for them to answer, and at least in my opinion, pointless questions like Speedermike said.

Well, I guess it's a difference of opinion then about what is or isn't a pointless question.   ;)

In my mind, questions that Hasbro can and will answer to clear things up about upcoming products aren't pointless because people are interested in the answers as soon as they can get them (as proven by the interest demonstrated in this thread).

When it comes to questions like "Why can't you sell the playset rights to GG or MR?"  (which scares me because then they'd be even MORE pricey than the Hasbro ones), well questions like that are more suited to SDCC or other functions where actual Hasbro product development people are in attendance.

Often, at Toy Fair all there is on hand is sales people who know a lot about the product they are showing and that's it.  To ask those people questions like you are wanting is, in my opinion, pointless because they either won't know or can't answer them appropriately.

With that aside though, we can certainly add the questions to the list and see what we can try to get answered...

Saga Collection '06 / 2006 TRU Clone Wars Gunship
« on: January 20, 2006, 12:28 PM »
I guess this thing can be "officially" confirmed because it is now up for pre-order at Amazon.com for $45with an expected ship date of May 1st (but we all know how those ship dates go  ::)).

Should be the same old Gunship, but this time with the killer paint deco from the cartoon.  $45 though seems like a HUGE rip-off considering the first release went for $40 and was clearanced and the RotS version sold like hotcakes for $30.   >:(

Unless it's got a bunch of pack-in figures, I'm going to have to pass...

Here's a question for all the JD members - do you not care about playsets/larger vehicles?

While I'd most likely buy new playsets (damn OCD), I honestly don't really care if they make more playsets.

#1 - I don't have the room to set them up and keep them that way.  I have limited display space and having big playsets set up eats away at that space way more than 25-30 figures on a shelf does.

#2 - The playsets they do make are often:
a) not to scale
b) overpriced for what you get
c) not movie/screen accurate
(re: Geonosis Arena and Mustafar Playset for examples)

#3 - My number one passion in this hobby is the figures themselves.  The playset and vehicles are great, but again they are display space hogs.  While I'd love an giant DS playset, I don't have anywhere to put it other than the closet.   :(

For Toy Fair, I'm way more interested in things like the "Bounty Hunt" chases and vOTC-06 because I know they are coming.  I'm much more interested in learning about the who/what/when/why/wheres of those products than an etherial Hasbro non-answer about the future of playsets (because you know deep down that any playset/AT-TE question will just get the same "it's on our list if we can find a place for it" type of non-answer).
