Hall of Justice / Re: DC Comics' "Super Powers"
« on: August 26, 2004, 02:55 PM »
I had:
Batman
Robin
Superman
Green Lantern
The Flash

I lost all three of the capes along the way, eventually even poor Batman's head went missing.  I still have Green Lantern and The Flash though, they are sitting on my GL Shrine shelf.

Super Powers was great.  I had the figures, the comics, and loved the SuperFriends TV show.  Probably why I was never turned into a Marvel Zombie and can resist the siren song of the Marvel Legends figures... unfortunately, I can't resist the DC Direct figures, DC Pocket Heroes, DC Kubricks (thanks Kubrick Krazies for starting me on this one)...

I'm also slightly annoyed (and sorry if this offends anyone at all, that's not what I mean), but here in town we have a lot of high school aged kids who enjoy to buy these small cars (think Neon, Honda, Toyota type cars) and put huge exhaust systems on them, and hammer down non stop creating lots of noise (similar to what was mentioned earlier about motorcycles).  These cars are usually "pimped out", complete with flames, wings, and neons.  Again, nothing against people who have these cars...to each their own.

I agree, those cars also make me !

There is a dumbass kid down the street who pimped out his Chevy Cav!  Now he drives down the street like he's in the Indy 500.  The neighbors keep calling the Oakdale 5-0 to bust his ass, but they never catch him.  Any dillhole who drives 50+ MPH down a residential street where kids live/play should be taken out and run over with their "2 Fast 2 Furious" car.

Nathan just blew his second save in a week after going like 34 straight before that...damn...Tribe lost though again :)

If it wasn't for that, we'd have swept Texas and be on a nice little run.

As it stands, we've won 8 of the last 10 (stupid Nathan blown saves! >:(), and opened up a nice 8 and 9 game lead over the Tribe and ChiSox, respectively.

Now we just gotta keep the run going to get that second seed in the AL so we can host Oakland/Anaheim at the Dome in the first round ot the playoffs ;)

A few more...

1.  When the drive thru doesn't get your order right and you have to go into the crowded restaurant to get what you ordered, despite the fact that THAT is what you wanted to avoid which is is why you went to the drive thru in the first place!

2.  When some "in a hurry" jerk runs/jogs to the door so that they can get in front of you in line to get through the security checkpoint, only to explain to the guard that they KNOW they don't have their badge, so the guards gotta do a remote lookup for the Employee ID.  If you KNOW you don't have your badge and are gonna take 10 minutes, then let me go first dammit!   >:(

3.  Women who are Brett Favre fans.   >:(

4.  Having stuff up for auction on eBay that no one bids on!  Come on people!  I went to all the trouble to take a picture and write up a nice description and now no one wants my cheap-ass old junk?  Damn!   $0.35 right down the crapper.

5.  Building a deck that takes all summer because your plans are so friggin' elaborate/elegant.   >:(

That's it for now...

Original Trilogy Collection / Re: Are you having fun collecting?
« on: August 25, 2004, 11:36 PM »
Yes.  I am having fun.

Of course, I'm not a completist, so I can pass on things like the TRU Darth Vader TIE or the OTC TIE and OTC X-Wing and not feel bad about it.

To tell you the truth, I am loving these vOTC figures.  The giddy feeling I get when I crack open one of these bad boys completely washes away the worried thoughts about how much gas $$ I just shelled out to track them down.

I think I hit "the wall" back during Episode 1 when crap was flying at us a mile a minute.  It was then that I decided to ditch the "buy two of everything" mentality.  I sold off a LOT of my extra carded deluxe figures, Cinema Scenes, boxed vehicles, etc.

I pared down my collection to one of every NEW toy (figures, vehicles, etc) and one of every basic figure MOMC as well.  If it's not NEW, I don't buy it.  This allows me to pass on things like the Wal-Mart DVD sets or the Carry Cases, or the TRU Vader TIE.

So, yeah.  I am still having fun collecting, but I think every collector goes through the ups and downs.  The best part about collecting is that that next big score might just swing the pendulum back the other way, and you'll be doubting as to why you even though of giving it up!  :)

Well,

I see that Wayne is no longer on-line so...
By the power granted to me by the wise Wayne/reconsgt, he selects:

(Round 2) pick #28 - Trent Green, QB

(Round 3) pick #29 - Aaron Brooks, QB

Back to Dustrho...

At least you're willing to admit that it's blind homerism that led you to that conclusion...

Exactly.  He may be a good/successful football player, sure, BUT as long as he wears the loathesome Cheesehead Green and Gold, he is and forever shall be a "wuss".

AHEM...

Favre is a wuss.

I am sorry if my views offend you or cause you two to think less of me, but as a fan of the beloved Purple and Gold, it is my legal obligation to think this way.

SKOAL VIKINGS, HONOR YOUR NAME,
GO GET THAT FIRST DOWN,
THEN GET A TOUCHDOWN.
ROCK’EM... SOCK’EM...
FIGHT!!! FIGHT!!! FIGHT!!! FIGHT!!!

GO VIKINGS, RUN UP THE SCORE,
YOU’LL HEAR US YELL FOR MORE.
V - I - K - I - N - G - S
SKOAL, VIKINGS, LET’S GO!!!
SKOAL!!!

Jeff

ps.

Just seems strange, and inconsistent to me.

What?  Hasbro did something that's strange and inconsistent?
That's not at all like them...

FYI -

Due to the size of this thread, I spun off two new threads for the ESB and RoTJ waves...

The vOTC ESB wave Thread

The vOTC RotJ wave Thread

Feel free to continue discussing the ANH vOTC figures or other random vOTC topics here, as JD.com is a place where there is no "Official Thread" for anything...  ;)
