Other Toy Lines / Scooby Doo Figures
« on: November 20, 2019, 02:32 PM »
Ok, I know this probably isn’t everyone’s cup of tea, but I’ve always been a Scooby Doo fan since I was a kid, and noticed some figure 2 packs on a recent trip to Wal-Mart. They are very similar to figures my daughter had when she was younger, and some may even be repacks from then. At any rate, they are two packs containing one Mystery Gang member and one of the classic cartoon baddies. Even better, they are priced at less than $6 a pack ($5.82 I think?). Our store only had the Scooby and Shaggy sets, but I understand the whole gang is available. I think it is for the 50th anniversary. They aren’t necessarily “highly detailed”, but kind of neat for the price if you want a Scooby Doo to hang out in the display. Roughly 5” scale I think.

The Bullpen / Re: Marvel Legends

Not sure if anyone is looking, but while at WM looking for Luke/Yoda, I noticed that our local store had (finally) gotten in some of the “worthy” Captain America figures from Endgame. I had never seen one in the wild (and bought one on eBay), and they even rang up for $16.82. Might be worth taking another look if you are interested, an outstanding figure.

Swung by Wal-Mart (seems like I only go when there is an exclusive), and although their regular toy aisle was a bit of a mess (several Skiffs and Jabba Palace sets though), I decided to walk past electronics since I heard some things were being found there. Lo and behold, a whole shipper display full of Star Wars. There were several Black Series Jedi Lukes, Spirit Yodas, TVC Yavin Lukes, and other stuff. They had some neat Cereal Box/T-Shirt sets from Funko, the gold figures, some lunch box style boxes, and more. I grabbed a Luke and Yoda, so relieved to find them. Still kind of crazy to me that Jedi Luke has to be an exclusive in this line, and not a wide release. Looks great though.

I got mine over the weekend, smashed up in a bubble mailer. I was just opening it, so no big deal I guess. The figure itself is pretty cool, wouldn’t mind seeing more things like this.

I’m kind of torn on this set. On one hand, I rarely ever pass on an OT item in that beautiful vintage packaging. On the other hand I can’t say I’m overly excited for the set outside of the Yoda. That real scan has really made all the difference in both scales of figures, and has me (re)buying a lot of them.

TV-9D9 / Re: The Mandalorian (SPOILERS possible)
« on: November 14, 2019, 02:23 PM »
I loved the first episode as well, can’t wait for the new one tomorrow. When we were watching the premiere, I turned to my wife and said “I can’t believe there is a live action Star Wars TV show”. It seems like it has been talked about forever. If you would have told me as a kid “hey, there is going to be a Star Wars TV show with new episodes every week, and it stars this Boba Fett type guy” I would have lost my mind. Hoping to get a rewatch or two in before the next one, definitely did not see that ending coming.

Found the CW Obi-Wan today, although the Walgreens I was at had it behind 3 Veers, a Poe, and a Krennic. Glad I took the time to dig. Always loved this look for Obi.

The Vintage Collection / Re: 2019 Walmart VC151 Yavin Luke Skywalker
« on: November 7, 2019, 09:28 PM »
I got my two in the mail this week...and WM just tossed them in a plastic mailer with no padding or anything, so both cards were destroyed and bubbles cracked open. Generally I wouldn’t care too much, because I’m an opener, but I like to keep a carded set of the OT figures (which is why I ordered two). The figure itself looks great, just bummed the cards were so jacked.

If these do indeed come with photo real faces, I’m definitely in for Han and Luke... and maybe multiples of them. Those are my favorite versions of those characters, and to me the new face painting stuff is a game changer. Overall, I don’t mind the repacks to some extent. I recognize it is just necessary for our 3 3/4” figures to keep coming. Not sure if these will be a “shared” (online) exclusive like the Leia/Vader/Han wave...if so it shouldn’t be a problem. If it is a retail thing it is tough to know. Might be better to spread the repacks out throughout waves, but I guess if it isn’t over shipped it should sell through.

Joe Defender / Re: The Future of G.I. Joe?
« on: November 5, 2019, 02:42 PM »
Thanks so much for posting updates; man I hope this movie is good. It would be great to see Joe make a triumphant return to toy aisles as well. Although I know, like Star Wars, Joe will always be a 3 3/4” line to me....to be honest I’m kinda hoping for a Black Series/Legends/Ultimates style line of Joes too. With all the great 6” stuff we have seen in the past few years - from Hasbro alone - it has really made me want a Legends style Snake Eyes on the shelf (among others).

The Vintage Collection / Re: 2020 TVC Wave 2 (aka New TVC Wave 12)
« on: November 5, 2019, 02:16 PM »
I really like the Han, Luke, and Lando figures in this wave, and have multiples of each, but to be honest if these DO come with photo real faces I’d be a sucker and buy them again. In both scales, that has really been a game changer, and has made me want a number of re-releases with new faces.

The Black Series 6" Figures / Re: 6" Black Series TROS Wave 4

Glad to see all these figures, and kind of neat to see a themed wave basically here too, been awhile.

Saw these come in today, street dated 11/10. Didn’t know this was a Target exclusive until this week. Looking forward to it.

The Black Series 6" Figures / Re: 2019 European Convention Reveals

Just read over at JediInsider that today’s Euro reveals are a Black Series Plo Koon and Kit Fisto, as well as a TVC Clonetrooper (AOTC).

I'd love for this to re-open the idea of doing a second Solo film with Han and Chewie working for Jabba, running into Boba Fett for the first time, etc.  So much potential there for OT Imperial run-ins and what not.

This. Agree 100%. I really, really liked Solo and would love to see it continue either as a Disney+ show or movie. It really seems like it might be a fresh start after Rise of Skywalker, at least movie wise, with this latest cancelled movie originally scheduled for 2022. So, we may have a wait for big screen Star Wars, which is maybe for the best? But yes, more Solo please.
