The Vintage Collection / Re: Realistic Clone Wars 3D Figures
« on: June 18, 2011, 03:05 PM »
They won't make Ziro for clone wars, so they sure ain't gonna make him for realistic.

Is anyone REALLY clamoring for a realistic Pre Vizsla?

Mandalorians are easy money for Hasbro. I've never seen the CW Mandalorian warrior in person, the battle pack just once. Boba Fett is reissued because he sells, even the cruddy ones.

Those Marvel comic packs that intially sat at some outlets, the mandos from them sell on ebay for decent money.

Tartakovsky's stuff isn't "canon" and TCW is, or that's the perception. I fully expect the series to end (?) with a redo of the Battle of Coruscant that won't be the exact same take as Tartakovsky's.

I noticed Padme at the Mon Calamari battle. Ummm...yeah, whatever. Ms. Aggressive Negotiations sure likes the action. Also, another Padme outfit that'll never be made into a toy.  ;)

I liked the line "Great, it's gonna be another one of those planets." Self-mockery of the frequent, irritatingly cutesy aspects of Star Wars, or maybe it was edited to seem that way.

In that vein, seeing Grievous get beat by Gungans will be amusing, if only because Grievous is an overrated menace who was haphazardly thrown into ROTS for what had to be at least 50% marketing/lincensing reasons (basically Old Man Dooku wasn't a sellable fun character).

Future Question Answered for 2012:
"We think battle packs are still a good value. 2 figures, 2 accessories, 2 stands, 2 cards and a brightly colored box!"

Saw this over the 'Scum. The AWESOME NEW Y-WING MOLD folks really wanted...er...not.

Mini-rig in the kiddie ride version of a big vehicle style.  :P Like the rear turret (is if for astro droids?). They had a servicable concept but had to make it too Y-wingy (those engine pods look playskoolish) rather than just an "off screen" air speeder/mini-fighter.

Sooo...we have the following confirmations in the last few Q&A's

Leia Bespin
Weequay
Grand Moff Tarkin
Ben Quadrinaros

ALso, either Kitster and Wald are coming this year or never. I'd say never.  :-\

According to one site's answers, Data-Viper has been cancelled. Bummer.

I don't have time to go into every detail...but why does the male Jedi stay and fight?  What's the point.  He and the girl could have made it to the ship.

Jedi get off on becoming martyrs.  ;)

Double bladed lightsabers aren't so special anymore. Also, the throwing objects telekinetically never seems to work against other force users. I think it's just showing off.

The Vintage Collection / Re: Background character resculpts
« on: June 7, 2011, 05:26 PM »
I think part of what makes it so hard to come up with Prequal resculpts, at least from ROTS, is the figures weren't too bad to begin with (generally).  Some of them did need an update though, like Tarrful for sure, but it's tough for me to look at some of those ROTS figures and feel like I'd be that interested in a new one.

Utapau Warrior/Security could be better (if anyone cared). Or maybe it was those little force unleashed guys that drove home how under articulated he is.

Or maybe the Prequals just truly are that devoid of interesting background people?

Or that there's gobs of background people...and most of them aren't interesting. Outlander Nightclub is no Creature Cantina! Senate hall is no Jabba's Palace!

At current price points, I'm also more inclined to buy Original Trilogy bit players, too.

Owen isn't a background character. He's a supporting/minor speaking role, and has more lines that Boba Fett.

I'm nitpicking.  :D

- Chief Bast with hat on.

- Motti, yes, and if he could somehow sit and still look good standing.

- Classic original Weequay

- That remaining vintage Ewok whose name may have been changed.

- Orrimaarko, an easy-as-a-new-headsculpt for them to make.

- The Special Ed (ha-ha) Jabba's Palace Dancers...yeah, I say that as some who hated Jedi Rocks.

- Yarael Poof, he's a jedi...it's almost given he will be updated...almost. Robot Chicken made this guy a must have update. Funny story, I picked up a 2002 Jedi Unleashed Game: Battle of Geonosis free at a yard sale, there's 18 Jedi icons and they include Poof, who wasn't there (on screen anyway). Eth Koth instead of Agen Kolar, too.

-The Kamino training Clone...there was no reason for the original release to be as weak as it was.

- A rebel commando that doesn't suck on some level. Vintage was close to not sucking, but Hasbro pulled defeat out of sure victory with the words "bald" and "goatee"

As we all know via Hasbro, listing a certain pair of sisters is waste of a wish slot (no offense to anyone). So, skipping them...

1. Mosep
2. Solomahal
3. Tzivvzt
4. General Bob Hudsol
5. Baniss Keeg
6. General Vanden Willard
7. Sai'torr Kal Fas (the other Saurian)
8. Boelo (one of Jabba's human goons, an untapped area)
9.Del Goren (Yavin communications operator)
10. Arleil Schous

Imperial officer and rebel pilot free! Though, I''ve certainly no objections to any of those, even remakes. Chief Bast with hat needs to be made! Update Motti, too.

Cad Solo or Han Bane...

You know, Lucas should consider abandoning the live action series idea (that will never happen anyway because of costs), and making a show like these trailers. Probably as expensive as making a live-action series, though!

Yard sale find, a completely stripped AAT droid tank (the blue one) for 50 cents. I've got quite a scrap vehicle collection going.  Also that black R5 unit from ROTJ for 10 cents, minus antenna (not clone wars, of course).

Garage sale gold this weekend, an AT-TE, Crumb Bomber Gunship and Magna Guard fighter, along with ROTS Obi Wan Fighter, V-Wing and yellow Y-Wing for $10 total. All of them are incomplete though, especially the v-wing and y-wing.

Here's characters I hope to see return:

Cobra Commander (more of an 80s look)
Destro
Storm Shadow
Zartan
Baroness
Duke
Breaker
Snake Eyes
General Hawk

Word is only Duke, Snake-Eyes and Storm Shadow are returning. But that may mean those same actors.

Joseph Gordon Levitt and Sienna Miller have said outright they won't be back. Rachel Nichols (Scarlett) is saying she's not in it, either.
