The Black Series 3.75" / Re: Toy Fair 2015
« on: January 6, 2015, 11:12 AM »
I wonder with JJ Abrams leading this film if we'll even see much previewed or pre-released merchandise like we've seen in the past from a Lucas led company.

Is there any hint of a Wave 8 in this line?

Saw it yesterday.  I thought it was just meh.  Not bad, but okay.

Too much battle and not enough plot, which I think was the danger of making this book in to three movies.

I agree with the previous comments that LOTR was far superior.  I've watch all of the LOTR movies several times afterwards.

This was entertaining, but I'm not sure I'll ever seek out The Five Armies to watch again.

Clearing out the rest of my unopened Galactic Heroes.  All are near mint carded/boxed.  Let me know if anyone here is interested, otherwise I'll be dumping a lot of these with Toys for Tots at noon on Friday.  We can work out a volume deal if you're interested.

Gone to Toys for Tots.

New Mad Max: Fury Road - Official Theatrical Teaser Trailer

I really, really liked the first three Mad Max movies.  I'm pumped that there is a fourth.  I know they've been trying for 25 years or so to make this.

I like the new Max, and I think Charlize Theron could be awesome in this movie too.

Has anyone seen the Lego Advent calendars in stock and go on sale lately?

It seems starting last year there was far less stock of all of the advent calendars.  I didn't find a single one marked down last year, and haven't seen one in stores in weeks.

I've always tried to pick up this year's version on sale to give to the kids the following year, but it doesn't look like that is going to happen again this year.

I think you mean Monica Belluci, she's topping 50 but she is hot as all hell.
I never get tired of watching her in a movie.

You're right on both points.  My bad.

She is hot as hell, but you don't see too many "old" Bond women.

Looks like the young Bond woman is Lea Seydoux

You left of Morena Baccarin as well.  I wonder what her role is going to be.  Seems a little old to be the main Bond girl, although I guess they had Halle Berry as a Bond girl when she was in her late thirties...

Anybody know if Amazon or others are going to have some sweet Lego deals this holiday season?  I think last year at this time i was able to get most of the logo sets for 30% off.

The Legacy Collection / Re: TLC Millenium Falcon

Finally cracked my BMF open yesterday.  The kids are getting big enough, and with Star Wars Rebels are interested enough to warrant opening this puppy.

Its awesome!

I did have to get out the glue stick to apply the stickers as the sticker sheet had completely dried up.

My one complaint is that the landing gear are *always* falling off.  It would be fine if I played with it, but its not solid enough for 5-7 year olds moving it around on the carpet.  Has anyone figured out a way to keep those landing gear in place better?

Star Wars Rebels / Re: Star Wars: Rebels - Class II Vehicles
« on: November 20, 2014, 10:39 AM »
I opened all of the vehicles last night with the kids.  My quick thoughts (caveat that I haven't opened that many toys so my frame of reference might be off).

Phantom - The kids and I really like this.  I think this is the best of the bunch.  Flexible play options and it seems well built.  It looks like it has been designed to attach to a future Ghost ship.

TIE - I think this is really good as well.  My only complaint is that the hatch is too hard to open.  I'm going to have to file down the plastic to make it easier to open.  My kids can't open it on their own, and I struggle to get it open.  Not sure if they are all like this or not.

AT-DP - It stands great and looks great.  However trying to move the legs is a complete disaster.  Within ten minutes of opening and constructing this the legs popped off about five times and I had to instruct the kids not to move the legs more than a few degrees at a time.  How this got through the design process is beyond me.  The cockpit with double opening hatch is pretty cool though.

Overall I would have to say they're okay, but not great, although I think the Phantom is really solid.

I don't think the plastic is so thin and hollow that its going to break or cause quality issues, so that's not an issue for me.

I was really annoyed with the stickers included with these though.  While the Phantom's were reasonably easy to apply, the others were terrible.  They were so small you couldn't even grab them.  I don't know how anyone without model building skills could apply these (had to get out my Exacto knife to put them on like decals), and really seem unnecessary.  Does Hasbro feel they *must* include stickers with every ship?  They were so small and meaningless, and frustrating.

While I've got my gripes, I'm very glad they created new ships and its not just repainted Jedi Starships and the usual crap we've received over the past few years.  The $25 price point isn't great for the ships alone, but its also not terrible.  I actually think its a decent deal if you get the Target versions with the pack-in figures.

One thing that kind of bugs about this game is the attack ranges of the different troops and defenses.  I love getting attacked by AT-ATs and my defenses never fire a shot because the AT-AT can shoot further.  Seriously, who thought up this stuff?  Couldn't they have more or less copied Clash of Clans and used Star Wars themes?

Star Wars Rebels / Re: Recents Finds and/or Purchases
« on: November 14, 2014, 10:55 AM »
The thing that bugs me is that most Targets I go to have two pegs devoted to Legends figures, but have maybe six total figures on the pegs.  They've put those black rubber stoppers on the pegs so you can't fit more than a few figures per peg.  They could easily fit a whole case and a half if they filled up their pegs.   I shove the black rubber stoppers back at all the Targets I go to.   >:D

Also noticed these are finally up at TRU.com but for $6.99 a piece and Chopper, Stormtrooper, and the inquisitor are all sold out. :(

My local Target is charging $6.49.  ::)

$6.99 might not be too bad if you can find them without driving around town.
