Kubricks / Re: Recent Acquisitions
« on: May 29, 2012, 08:00 AM »
Picked up the R2-Q5 from Yahoo! Japan.  Although the auction ended for less than I was hoping to spend on the figure, the shipping and fees from Celga will probably end up costing me more than I wanted to spend...

I was also able to work out an arrangement with a Japanese co-worker to get the 400% Teebo, 400% TC-14 and R2-D2/C-3PO B@earbrick 2-pack from the Project 1/6 Store.  I won't get these for a while, but she saved me over $100 on fees and shipping by picking these up for me.

Isn't it these?

Looks like we'll be getting carded versions of the Vinyl Vader and Tie Fighter pilot from DX4 for the Medicom Toy Exhibition. The Kubrick line is still dead in my eyes so I can't be bothered to make a new thread about them.

No, what I'm talking about is the following.  They announced last year that they were releasing the Stormtrooper and a re-carded Boba Fett at the show and would then have some available on the Project 1/6 site.  So we thought those were the only two figures we were getting.  Then, Medicom had a private event where they gave away carded vinyl Obi-Wan figures to the attendees.  What I'm saying is that I hope that they do the same thing this year and release another vintage nod carded figure.  I'm personally hoping for the Leia since we don't have a non-holo carded figure of her yet.

I'm more interested in the give-away carded figure that they are handing out this year.  Last year was the vinyl Obi-Wan.  Anyone taking bets?  Vinyl Tusken, vinyl Leia, vinyl Jawa?!

Watto's Junk Yard / Re: Gotta have ACL surgery for my dog
« on: May 17, 2012, 09:41 PM »
Haven't had to have surgery for our dog, but my wife's cat tore his ACL.  The surgery was successful, but he wasn't a high jumper afterward.  He used to be able to get up on the bathroom counter with ease before the surgery, but after he was pretty much only jumping onto the couch.  As far as his gait was concerned, he didn't have a limp and could still get around rather quickly when he needed to.

Sorry I couldn't give you much to go on for your dog, but like you, there was never a question for us about not getting the surgery done when it happened.

As we explore all manner of unseemly web content, I submit http://eyebleach.com/ for all those unexpected atrocities.

I had to stop watching, otherwise I would never get to work today...

Although my only real beef is that Hull went from uncontrollable raging monster to Superhero with no real explanation.

This was the same question my wife had leaving the theater.  Not sure how to explain that one either...

Just got back from the matinee with my wife.  Awesome movie.  There was just the right mix of action, dialogue and humor.  Will definitely see it again on the big screen before it goes away.

'My name's MCA, I gotta license to kill. I think you know what time it is, it's time to get ill'

Thank you for being a huge part of my musical soundtrack throughout the years.  Check Your Head is still one of my top 5 releases of all time.

What was almost as scary to me was reading that Seau was the 8th member of the Chargers 1994 Super Bowl team to die.

Eddie O has been saying that exact same thing all series against Phoenix and it seems from memory that the main goals they scored were all up high.  They also didn't have nearly enough traffic in front of the net.  Smith had way too many open looks at shots.

One other thing that Eddie O said during the Hossa/Torres incident that I would love to get people's opinion on was with respect to how the league can get bad hits under control.  He stated that if a player is suspended for an illegal hit, then the team should have to play short handed for each game that player is suspended.  He thought players and coaches would have more incentive for policing themselves if that were the case.

I realize that it would never happen, but it could possibly keep things under more control.  Now, I'm not in favor of neutering players like the NFL tried to do this past season, but I did think he brought up an interesting concept...

The play-off experience was amazing last night until the third period when the Coyotes went up by 2.  After that the enegy just left the building.  The Blackhawks are in desperate need of a first tier goaltender as I think this season showed a distinct disadvantage for the Hawks in goal.

The linesman nearest that Hossa hit actually flinches in the video when the hit is made, presumably because he thought Hossa would fly into him rather than drop like a sack of rocks.  And no call?  GMAFB.  Cannot in any way say he missed the play because he's RIGHT THERE.

My wife and I were both yelling about that exact same point during the replays.  I seriously thought that Q was going to burst a blood vessel in his face when he was screaming at the officials after the play.  I was glad to hear that Hossa left the hospital under his own control and even happier to hear that Torres was indefinitely suspended until his meeting on Friday.

I'm really hoping that the Hawks can at least win one of the next two games (if not both) because I have tickets for Game 6 on Monday.  It would be awesome to see them win the series at home when I'm there.
